    Q
How long for Bifen to dry if sprayed at dusk (dark-no sun) while temps are in the 50's?
I sprayed just before dark on a mostly cloudy evening with the temp being 55 degrees. It got dark as I was spraying and now my dog has to go out to potty. How long will it take to dry in these conditions? I don't want it to get on her feet and legs and her end up licking it off.
    A

Generally, after an application of Bifen IT it should take a few hours to dry outside, typically 4-6 hours.

    Q
Does Bifen IT interfere with Termidor SC?
Is Bifen a repellent? I was thinking about spraying our whole yard with it, but we've had a termidor trench treatment around the house, will bifen interfere with that? Also is spraying the lawn a good way to kill ants? Or do I need to drench all the mounds as well? They're not fire ants, just little black ones
    A

Bifen IT will not affect your trenching treatment done with Termidor SC.  Bifen I/T is considered a repellent.  When treating for ants, you can spray the lawn, trees and shrubs, along with 3 foot up the side of your home, 3 feet out into the soil all the way around the perimeter foundation of your home, around doors and windows and around the eaves and soffits of your home monthly.

    Q
Is Bifen IT good indoors against Silverfish if it is a repellent?
I see in the description it says Bifen IT is a repellent insecticide. I thought it was best to use a non-repellent for silverfish indoors, since I want the silverfish to run through the residual poison left behind after product dries. Will the silverfish just run away from the areas I treated with Bifen to another part of my house?
    A

Although Bifen IT is considered a repellent insecticide, it is not a true repellent in that it “repels” insects away. Insects will still be able to contact the treated surfaces and eventually die from through contact of the active ingredient. Bifen IT is included in our Silverfish Kit that you can view HERE

If wanting a non repellent insecticide, Temprid FX is a dual mode of action inseciticide using 2 active ingredients, one providing a fast kill and then a non repellent residual to go undetected as insects cross the treated areas.

Please view our Silverfish Treatment Guide for more information and product recommendations for a complete treatment program.

    Q
Can livestock graze after Bifen IT is applied?
We have a tick and ant problem this year and I was wanting to apply this to our field but we have a horse and cow and didn't know if this would be safe for them to graze on afterwards. I've done some research and can't find the answer.
    A

Bifen IT cannot be used in animal grazing pastures.  Essentria All Purpose Insecticide Concentrate can be used in animal grazing pastures for ant and tick control.

    Q
Which is better for mosquitoes, Bifen IT or Bifen XTS?
I see that the XTS has a higher amount of 25.1% bifenthrin. I was just wondering if the XTS would be better for the mosquito control. Also I have about a 1 1/2 acre pond is there something better to handle bigger areas of water than those dunk tablets?
    A

Bifen I/T is one of our most popular products for mosquito control.  Bifen XTS is basically the same product, just in a higher concentration, and oil-based instead of water-based. Either sprayer or mister application would be effective with either product as long as the application is thorough.  Oil-based products such as Bifen XTS can stain some surfaces.  This is not usually a concern in most areas outside, but you should use caution when treating around the siding of a home.  Most oil-based products such as Bifen XTS do have a "chemical" odor but it is not especially strong.

Do not spray any bifenthrin product in a way that would contact the pond with direct spray, drift, or runoff.

Mosquitoes lay their eggs in standing water, so if there are any areas of standing water where you are treating, those should be treated as well with Altosid Pro-G Mosquito Larvicide if you prefer not to use BTI Mosquito Dunks.

    Q
    Rotating insecticide
I'm currently using Bifen to control insects. Was wondering what other insecticide I can rotate with so insects don't grow an immunity to it. I'm looking for something that will control most insects and have a long residual life so I don't have to keep on applying it.
    A
Cyzmic CS would be a great option to rotate with. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions. This product is microencapsulated and can have a 2-3 month residual when applied appropriately.

    Q
Can you spray Bifen IT directly on anthills?
There are some ant hills in our backyard and I was wondering if you should spray bifen on those? And if you should then exactly how and how much? I wouldn't want to just cause them to scatter or something. Thanks
    A

Yes, Bifen IT can be used to treat fire ant mounds directly as well as broadcast over the lawn. Please view our How to Get Rid of Fire Ants Guide for step by step instructions and a helpful video.

    Q
Does Bifen liquid gel in water?
I was trying to spray and small gel capsules were all over my filter. Yes I started spraying after I filled the tank with water. And yes I cleaned out the filter and tank before using it before I started with the pesticide.
    A

We have not heard any feedback on Bifen IT becoming gel-like when mixed as directed on the label.  Make sure you are shaking the concentrate well before tank mixing, and agitate thoroughly before and during applications to ensure that the mixture has gone into solution.  You can also contact the manufacturer Control Solutions for additional support by visiting their website's contact page here

    Q
If possible, I would like to also treat for spiders and ants. Is all of this possible with one solution?
I have a 3 story building with hard to reach places around the soffit. I have a problem with carpenter bees/wasps and the soffit around the building is wood. I would like to be able to treat the building using a solution that can be applied with a PRESSURE WASHER to reach the areas not easily accessible with a ladder. It would be great if I could spray down the building with one solution.
    A

We would recommend applying a product like Bifen IT in our Chapin Slide Pump Sprayer. This sprayer will reach well over 30ft. We do not carry any products that can be applied in a pressure washer for this type of insect control. You will mix the product at 1 oz per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft monthly on the exterior. Please let us know if you need anything else.

    Q
Tip reads: “Remember that Bifen IT is non selective and will kill the good guys…”
…so avoid spraying flowers. I was under the impression that these insecticides have a residual effect & that's why you only need to apply a few times a year to kill. If that's the case, how does it NOT kill the beneficials that happen to land on leaves, grass to rest? We have swampy wooded acreage w/ mosquitoes but we also have dragonflies, butterflies, & bees. When we broke down & used a company (cyfluthrin/ bifenthrin) after trying TONS of organic options, I noticed that I didn't have any more of my beneficials. We are organic but didn't know there was swampland when we looked at the house w/ snow on the ground last year. I didn't even plant any more flowers for fear I'd 'entice them to their doom'.
    A
Bifen IT is not labeled for beneficial insects, but it has the potential to kill them if they come in contact with the treated area.
