    Q
1.Spraying my grass in the evening will not burn my grass even if the temperature reaches 98 degrees tomorrow?
    2. I do NOT want to water or cut the grass for 24 hours after spraying for webworms? After 24 hours water as normal or the 1/4 inch? 3. Is it ok to cut the grass and water prior to spraying? Should I cut it shorter? BTW I sprayed around my house this morning and within 30 minutes I had a couple of dead spiders and have not seen any pesky ants all day. So far Very Very happy!
    A
We do not recommend applying Bifen XTS or other insecticides while the temperature is above 90-95 degrees so that you are not putting extra stress on your turfgrass. If you have very hot days, then the best time to treat is in the morning after the grass has recovered during the night.

For control of sod webworms, you should delay watering or irrigation for at least 24 hours after application, per the product label. We do not recommend spraying immediately after cutting to reduce extra stress on the grass. If you spray after watering, be sure the ground is not saturated and the grass blades are not dripping wet.

    Q
Can Bifen XTS be used to treat gypsy moths in the caterpillar stage using a backpack mister?
    A

Yes, Bifen XTS is labeled to control gypsy moth adults and caterpillars. Per the product label, be sure that you are also applying around the foundation of any structures as well as to the siding of the structure.

For use on edible plants or more sensitive plants, a product with Bt such as Natural Guard Caterpillar Spray with Bt is a great choice.

  • Asked by William from Sugar Hill

    Q
Can I use Bifen XTS with a Ryobi electric fogger/mister?
Can I use this in a Ryobi fogger/mister tool? Since it's oil base it shouldn't clog the fogger/mister right?
    A

Most of the Ryobi machines state in the manual that they do not allow for use of professional grade products such as Bifen XTS (which cannot be used in any fogger as well) which is what we mainly carry. You would need to contact the Ryobi manufacturer for the best advice.  The only option we have that might be an option is the Mosquito Beater.

    Q
Can Bifen XTS be used with Tomahawk Backpack Fogger?
i read in Q&A that XTS cannot be used with thermal fogger; can it be used in Tomahawk Backpack Fogger?
    A

Bifen XTS  cannot be used in a thermal, ulv or propane fogger but can be applied using a backpack sprayer or mist blower If the Tomahawk Backpack Fogger you have works as a mist blower/sprayer similar to the Tomahawk Power Mist Blower TMD14 with Turbo Boost, that would be an acceptable piece of equipment to use for applying Bifen XTS. Please see the product label for complete instructions.

    Q
I have a turtle, will Bifen XTS harm my turtle? I mix my Bifen XTS with IGR
I'm treating my house for roaches and I need to know if I have to remove my turtle from the room he is in when I treat?
    A

When using an insecticide, it is recommended that you keep pets and/or other animals out of the area while the product is being applied. Once Bifen IT dries, it is safe for animals, such as turtles, to return to the area.

One of our roach control kits would be recommended for roach control. These professional kits includes non-staining, low odor concentrated insecticide for spraying the outside perimeter of the home and inside underneath appliances, behind cabinets, under toilets and sinks, etc. You'll also get Roach Bait Gel to help get rid of those roaches that like to hide. Baits can be applied up high in the kitchen in the corner of cabinets and in cracks and crevices in kitchens and bathrooms. The bait contains a slow-acting poison that attracts and kills feeding roaches, who also spread the bait to other roaches by contact or by sharing food. Finally, an Insect Growth Regulator is offered which will stop roaches from laying eggs, helping to halt the infestation. The combination of an IGR with roach bait is a highly effective roach control strategy that is widely used by pest control professionals. The insecticide must be applied with a 1 gallon pump sprayer.

    Q
What time of day is best to use Bifen in a backpack blower sprayer?
I have heard that certain times of day are much better than others for mosquito control when applying bison with a backpack blower. Is there a better time of day than another?
    A

We would not recommend using Bifen XTS at temperatures over 85 degrees as this is an oil based product and can burn plants it comes into contact with under extreme heat. We recommend spraying in early morning or late evening.

    Q
Can Bifen XTS be used to spray the exterior perimeter foundation for Springtails? Is this a better product than Bifen IT and Bifen Granules?
I do understand the importance of cleaning debris piles and controlling moisture.
    A

The Bifen XTS, Bifen I/T, and Bifen LP Granules are all great choices for outdoor treatments of springtails. They are typically the most common to be used and show great results on the populations. Occasionally customers will use a product like Tempo SC Ultra to try and drench soil sections where they suspect springtail nests to be located in the yard or around concrete areas such as patios/walkways/driveway, etc. Tempo has a slightly faster knock back of insects with the ingredient it contains, but the overall residual control would be the same as what you are familiar with using. Continue to try and reduce moisture as much as possible and pick up debris that they could nest within or under.

  • Asked by Barbara from Sebastian, Fl

    Q
How much Bifen XTS do I use for whiteflies?
I purchased the auto mix sprayer how much do I need for white flies? How will I know when it is no longer in the sprayer? What setting should I use?
    A

To treat ornamental plants for whiteflies, you can use 0.26 – 1.28 oz of Bifen XTS per 10 gallons of water, per the product label. The rate at which you set your hose-end sprayer will depend on what settings are available, although this is a pretty low rate per gallon of water with the highest rate being 0.128 oz per 1 gallon of water. 1 gallon of water usually treats about 1000 sq ft of turfgrass, so it will likely treat less area if you are treating dense ornamental growth. Be sure you are treating all the leaf surfaces until they are wet but not to the point of runoff.
