    Q
Will Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Concentrate kill my grass? Accidentally spilled in treatment area but then ran into the grass area?
    A

If it was a small amount of Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Concentrate, the turf should be fine. The product label does advise, “not for use on lawns” so we would recommend watering the area where the spill occured and continue to observe for possible signs of injury.

I have a 13 year old espaliered pyracantha whose leaves are turning ashy, gray and appear to be dying.
I live in Birmingham, AL, Zone 7. Would this product be appropriate and is now the correct time to apply it?
    A
We do apologize but without knowing what is causing the issue, insect or disease, we are not able to say if the Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub would work for you.  We highly recommend contacting your local Master Gardner or Cooperative Extension for help identifying the issue, we would then be more than happy to help with a product recommendation.

  • Asked by Robert from Granger, In
    07/16/2018
    Q
Will Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and shrub Protect and Feed II protect against gypsy moths?
I have 7 large oak trees and the gypsy moths are starting to take a hold in our neighborhood. Haven't made their way to our property yet but I'm worried I won't be so lucky next year. Looking for a systemic as spraying 80-100 foot trees isn't something I can do. The trees all range in circumference of between 70-90 inches.
    A

Yes, Bayer Advanced 12 month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II is labeled for caterpillars (including gypsy moths).  Measure the distance in inches around the tree trunk at approximately 4.5 feet from ground level. This measurement is the amount of ounces of product to add to 1 gallon of water.  If the tree measures greater than 50 inches around, pour the required product into 2 gallons of water.

    Q
If my green ash tree measures 120 inches, would I use 120 oz. of Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II?
Or four 32 oz bottles. Will it harm the ash tree if an application was made less than 12 months ago as I cannot remember when application was made
    A

For trees, you will use 1 oz. of Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control Landscape per inch of distance around the trunk.  So yes, if your trunk is 120 inches you would use 120 oz.  It will not hurt to apply sooner than a year from the last treatment

Is it okay to use this Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II on plants and trees already fertilized?
I just fertilized my shrubs and trees. I want to protect crabapple trees that have shown insect damage and protect other healthy shrubs and trees against future infestations. Also, is it safe to use this product on newly planted trees? Can I used what's leftover on my lawn?
    A

Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed - Concentrate contains nutrients along with the insecticide so if you already applied a fertilizer the plants and trees may not need additional feeding. We are not familiar with the previous application including product and amount so cannot say if it is okay to go ahead and use, you want to be sure to not over fertilize.
