  • Asked by Patrick from Shaker Height's, Ohio
    07/26/2017
    Q
Does Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules treat scale on Tri-color beech tree?
    A

Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules does list scale on the label for insects treated. We are not certain if the product you are looking for is an insecticide, such as Imidacloprid, used to treat sucking pests such as aphids and scale, or if you are looking for a fungus control product. We recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office for product recommendations that have been successful in your area for treating Beech Scale.

  • Asked by Belinda from Los Angeles, Ca
    01/08/2021
    Q
How do I estimate the amount of BioAdvanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules to apply to ficus hedge?
I have a 12 foot high ficus hedge with trunks ranging 2 to 4 inches in diameter every 1 to 2 feet apart. When using instructions, the amount to apply seems preposterously large. With estimated average circumference of 9 inches (3 inch diameter trunk), instructions ask for slightly more than 2 cups (2.25 cups) per tree. With 60 trees, this works out to over 120 cups. Is this calculation correct or should we apply a different amount to shrubs with overlapping roots?
    A

Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules is more for small home owner applications and would be very expensive over larger areas as those rates are correct for trees.

  • Asked by Kim from Indianapolis, In
    04/14/2021
    Q
Will the BioAdvanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules impact Cicadas?
    A

Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules will not work for cicada killer wasps nor is there a systemic labeled for them.  icada Killer wasps thrive in disturbed environments, such as landscaped yards and places where bare soil is exposed. You can discourage the wasps from nesting in your yard by cutting your grass on the highest setting and by adding a thick layer of mulch to flower beds during the Cicada Killer Wasp season. These wasps do not like over saturated lawns either, so over watering during their season will help prevent them. Unfortunately, there is no fool proof way to prevent cicada killers. You could dust directly into their burrows with Delta Dust for current infestations and/or Bifen IT, which can also kill the cicada killers that come in contact with the treated areas but would need to come in contact with it for a sufficient amount of time to be affected by it, and does show limited results

  • Asked by Marcy from Rexford
    07/18/2019
    Q
Will Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules kill spider mites on junipers?
    A

No, the Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules are not labeled for spider mites.  Talstar P insecticide works very well on spider mites and is safe to use on Junipers.  Talstar works well for both the mature and the immature spider mites.  Talstar provides optimal spider mite control when applied during spring to mid-summer.  Higher application rates and/or more frequent treatments may be required for acceptable spider mite control during mid-to-late summer.  The addition of a surfactant or horticultural oil may increase the effectiveness of Talstar.

  • Asked by Amy from Three Rivers, Ca

    Q
Will Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules, help to kill a Fire blight infestation in Ash Tree?
An Arborist recommended the use of Bayer Tree and Shrub at the base of an Ash Tree which is showing dead curly leaf symptoms, which he diagnosed as fire blight. I don't see that listed on the product and can't find this information anywhere online. Will this product work to kill fire blight? If so, is now the right time to apply it? If not, what product and/or methods do you recommend in addition to pruning off the infested/dead limbs in early summer? This is an old, much beloved Ash Tree. I live in the Sierra foothills of CA. Thank you!
    A

Bayer Advanced 12 Month Tree and Shrub Protect and Feed II Granules is not labeled to control Fire Blight. We do carry a few products that are labeled to control or suppress fire blight, however at this time there is no cure for it.  Here is a list of the products that are labeled to treat for fire blight.  Please read the following article on Fire Blight Management.
