    Q
Will the Bonide Stump Out Stump & Vine Killer kill tree stumps and the roots?
The trees are down but the roots still are shooting up sprouts. Need to kill the roots. The trees were poplar and the roots are growing under my asphalt driveway.
    A

Yes. The Bonide Stump Out Stump & Vine Killer will kill the stump and the roots. You want to cut the suckers sprouts off, and make hatchet marks deep enought to hit the cambium cell layer of the tree. This layer is the growing part of the tree, and it will absorb the chemical to kill down to the roots.

    Q
Can I plant new shrubs next to stumps freshly treated with Bonide Stump Out Stump & Vine Killer?
I have a bunch of Burning Bush that I am removing due to their tendency to be invasive. I will be applying Stump out on all of the stumps. I want to replace the Burning Bush immediately with a noninvasive native shrub, such as viburnum or witch hazel. If I plant them between the treated stumps, will their roots be vulnerable?
    A

Bonide Stump Out Stump & Vine Killer will not have any effect on a new bush planted next to a treated stump as long as the treatment was done directly on the freshly cut stump.

  • Asked by Terry from Mckinney, Tx
    05/10/2016
    Q
Will Bonide Stump Out Stump & Vine Killer kill bamboo and horsetail?
My neighbor planted Horsetail reeds which have aggressively started sprouting on my yard. If I clip the reed at ground level and apply this to the top, will it kill the plant? I would prefer for it to be absorbed back to the other property to kill off the plant.
    A

Bonide Stump Out Stump and Vine Killer is not labeled for bamboo, although it is labeled for horsetail. It should work for bamboo, however, if you cut the plants down and apply the product undiluted to the freshly cut plants. You could also cut the bamboo and use something like Rodeo Herbicide. This product is labeled for both horsetail and bamboo. You may need multiple applications of herbicide to kill the horsetail, especially. Be sure to bag up plant cuttings so as not to cause further spreading of the seeds.

    Q
Did I contaminate the soil by spraying the leaves of my invasive vine with Bonide Stump Out Stump & Vine Killer?
I sprayed the leaves of an invasive green vine that keeps coming into my prepared flower bed. Is it safe to plant new plants there while I wait for the leaves of the sprayed vine to wither and die?
    A

If Bonide Stump Out Stump & Vine Killer contacted the soil at all you would need to wait at least 6 months to plant in the area, or remove the soil and replace with new.  If you just sprayed the leaves and there was minimal soil sprayed it should be ok to plant.

    Q
Can I use Bonide Stump & Vine killer in a flower bed?
I have poison ivy everywhere and I am allergic to it. I have to completely cover up to work in my garden. Please help
    A

Unfortunately, post-emergent herbicides that will kill the poison ivy effectively would likely also damage the flowers. It would probably be best to cut as much of the ivy as possible and then spot treat with Bonide Stump Out Stump & Vine Killer .
