Bonide Systemic Insect Control Wipes out Chili Thrips

We recently noticed that our Plumbagos and our Knockout roses were suffering. New growth was dying, blooms were fading, leaves were yellowing and the plants overall health were plummeting. I took samples to the horiculturalist at work and he diagnosed Chili Thrips. As I understand the Chili Thrips recently showed up in Florida and has increasingly begun to attack various plants. Plumbagos and Knockout roses. He recommended liquid orthene which is the active ingredient in the Bonide Systemic Insect Control. I could not find the chemical locally, but readilly found it in this product on the "Do My Own Pest Control" web site. I ordered the product on Wednesday, I received it on Friday and by Tuesday of the following week the plants had rebounded almost miraculously. My experience with the purchase could not have been better.

When buying Bonide Systemic Insect Control, my goal was to eliminate the damage on my Canna Lily leaves caused by Japanese Beetles. I'm delighted to say that the Bonide Control worked simply and perfectly, eliminating the Japanese Beetle problem instantly. My mistake was not buying this product sooner to have eliminated the initial damage they caused on the beautiful Canna Lily palm-like leaves. I will not make this mistake next year since I now have the Bonide Control in stock, and will use it in a timely manner!

Bonide Systemic Insect Control should be applied as directed when the targeted pest is first noticed and actively feeding. The product is applied as a foliar application at 1-2 oz per gallon.

Yes, Bonide Systemic Insect Control is labeled for many worm species. Please review the label for the type you are treating.
There are no temperature restrictions when applying Bonide Systemic Insect Control, however, it is always recommended to apply early in the morning or later in the evening so as to not be applying the product in direct sunlight or when temperatures are at their hottest during the day.
My neighbors and I have several Crepe Myrtles 20+ feet tall that are infested with scale. Spring does not seem practical or safe. Can this product be applied through the root system.

Bonide Systemic Insect Control is not labeled for ground waps therfore would not be recommended. Talstar P is commonly used to drench in ground wasps/yellow jacket/hornet nests. Please view the full product label for more information.
Dusting the opening to the ground nest with Delta Dust is another way to directly treat the access points of where waps enter/exit the nest.

No, Bonide Systemic Insect Control does not have the same active ingredient (Acephate) as the Bonide Annual Tree & Shrub Insect Control with Systemaxx (Imidacloprid)
Bonide Systemic Insect Control (Acephate) can be reapplied as needed at 7-10 day intervals. The Annual Tree & Shrub Insect Control with Systemaxx (Imidacloprid) is applied once a year as a soil drench application.
My husband oversprayed when treating our bougainvillea and there is residue on window glass that will not come off with soap/water or razor blades.

Bonide Systemic Insect Control is applied as a foliar spray and will work systemically to translocate throughout the plant. This is not labeled for soil drench applications.
Dominion 2L Insecticide would be an alternative systemic insecticide for soil drenching around ornamentals, shrubs, flowers, groundcovers & trees for listed target insects. You will use 0.1 to 0.2 fl oz per inch of trunk diameter (D.B.H – diameter at breast height) in no less than 10 gallons of water to evenly pour around the base out to the canopy.
