Bug Bombs & Insect Foggers for the Home

Bug bombs (insect foggers) are pest control products that are intended to fill a room with a pesticide solution. They are ideal for extensive and widespread infestations that have not responded to bug sprays and other methods of pest control. Because they are more powerful and widespread than some of their counterparts, bug bombs and foggers should only be used after you have familiarized yourself with their pros and cons.

Bug Bombs – What Kinds Of Pests Are They Used For?

Since most bug bombs contain pyrethrins, they can be employed against virtually any kind of insect. They are best suited for use in situations where there are large numbers of insects confined to a certain room of a home, such as flies, or even bed bugs.

How Do I Safely Use Bug Bombs?

Because they fill the entire room with pesticides, these products are not to be used without prior knowledge of safe practices. The first thing you should do is make sure that all pets and children are kept well away from the area to be treated and not allowed to return until, at the very least, several hours after the product has dispersed. Also, make sure that you do not remain in the room after setting the bomb, whether or not you have skin and breathing protection since these are sometimes not enough to maintain your safety while using insect fog.

Do I Need More Than One?

For the vast majority of cases, one bomb will suffice. Although there are large infestations or large rooms where more than one will be necessary. There are also cases where the first bug bomb does not completely solve the problem, and a second treatment may be required.

Can I Use Them Outside?

It’s not a good idea to try using these bombs outside. The formulations of pesticides in the products are intended to be used in a confined space, and they will lose much of their bug-killing power if they are allowed to disperse too quickly as will happen if they are used outdoors. They also can be harmful to the environment and beneficial insects if used outside. However, we do carry many products that are meant to be used for outdoor pest control. As always, be sure to read the label and the manufacturer’s instructions and contact us if you have any questions.
