How Catchmaster 72MB Glue Boards Work

The Catchmaster 72MB is a non-poisonous cardboard glue trap that captures mice, roaches, and insects on contact. Catchmaster glue boards have no insecticides or rodenticides, and the 72MB has a peanut butter scent that acts as an attractant to mice. (This is a synthetic scent that contains no peanut allergens.) Glue will remain most effective in moderate temperatures, but not in direct sunlight or freezing temperatures.

The Catchmaster 72MB will catch any insect pests and mice that cross its path. This trap can be used flat, flush with the floor, or it can be folded into a tunnel to create a dark space that is also protected from dust and debris.

Target Pests

Mice and insect such as roaches, crickets, spiders, earwigs, millipedes, and flying pests.

Target Uses

Catchmaster Glue Boards are an excellent choice for the capture of mice, rats, and other small rodents and insects in the home. With no poisons, rodenticides, or pesticides, these glue boards use a special adhesive type of glue scented with peanut butter to stop rodents in their tracks. When it comes to pest glue boards, Catchmaster has been called the Duracell of Glues as compared to competitors glues that can become hard and rubbery after 30 to 90 days. The glue in Catchmaster glue traps is effective for at least one year and is not toxic to people or pets. They also contain no oil like other glue board products, as oil mixes with the body chemistry of the rodent allowing for escape. The low profile of these glue boards allows for easy placement of traps. Use the 72MB flat, or fold into a tunnel shape to protect from dust.

Glue boards may be used as a stand alone treatment measure for rodents or as an additional tool to baiting. If you know the rodents running paths, place a Catchmaster Glue Board wherever rodents have been seen to travel, ideally close to the wall in places not readily accessible to pets and children. If by chance a pet or non-targeted animal gets stuck to the glue trap, household vegetable oil may be applied for painless release.

Be aware that insects and mice trapped on a glue board may still be alive when you find them. If this is a concern, consider using snap traps or multi-catch traps. Be sure to place glue boards out of reach of children and pets. Catchmaster 72MB Glue Boards are easier to use than snap traps, inexpensive, and disposable.

ACTIVE INGREDIENT: No insecticide/rodenticide active ingredient, only glue and peanut butter scent

Application Instructions

Use Catchmaster 72MB Mouse/Insect Glue Boards where insect pests or mice have been seen or are likely to be found. Place glue boards flush against walls, in corners, or in other areas pests are likely to travel. In dusty areas, fold the glue board into a tunnel shape to protect from dust and debris. This tunnel shape is also helpful for catching mice in areas with less shelter. Discard in the trash after use.

* If folding over a drain (such as for drain flies) or into a box shape, make creases before peeling off protective plastic sheet for easier manipulation of the cardboard. Use the included tab and slot closure to secure box shape.

* Always use and store out of reach of children and pets. Vegetable or mineral oil can be used to dissolve glue, if needed.

Catchmaster 72 MB Glue Boards come in packs of 12 or cases of 72 boards. The amount needed will vary with target use and level of infestation. Boards measure 8 in. x 5 in. when flat.

Standard Application Rates

Place traps for mice every 6-10 feet. For insects, place wherever activity is suspected or seen.

For use in the following areas:

Use indoors in residential, commercial, or industrial buildings, in areas not readily accessible to children or pets.

Indoors

Inspect for signs of pest activity, such as dead insects, food debris, or feces from mice. Place glue boards horizontally against baseboards, in corners, or in other areas pests are likely to be found. Use in corners of garages or storage areas, under appliances or furniture, or wherever mouse or insect activity is suspected. Do not use in areas easily accessible to children or pets. Do not place on moist surfaces or in areas likely to be exposed to water. Extreme heat may cause glue to melt. For cold areas such as walk-in refrigeration, use cold temperature rodent traps such as the Catchmaster 48WRG Cold Temperature Glue Board Trap. Discard in the trash after use or if covered in dust or other debris.

Outdoors

Catchmaster 72MB glue boards are not intended for outdoor use. Heat and direct sunlight can melt the glue, dust and other debris will stick to the glue and reduce trapping area, and rain may damage the cardboard.

Catchmaster 72MB Mouse/Insect Glue Board Features

  • Peanut butter scent attracts mice, does not contain allergens.
  • Mouse capture without snap traps or rodenticides.
  • Easy monitoring of insect pests.
  • Simply dispose in the garbage after use.
  • Inexpensive method of control.
  • Easy to use in sensitive environments.
  • Mice and insects die on the board, rather than an unknown location.
  • Board easily folds into a tunnel shape to protect from dust and debris.

Extra Tips

  • Store out of extreme temperatures and direct sunlight; boards are not weatherproof.
  • Use out of reach of children and pets or in pest monitors.
  • Vegetable oil will dissolve glue if needed (e.g., if stuck to a pet).
  • When folding at an angle over drains or into a box, fold creases before removing plastic film.
  • Glue boards are helpful for pests difficult to kill with insecticides, such as spiders and crickets.
  • This glue board is too small for rats. Use rat glue traps for rats.
  • A small piece of food or attractant such as Provoke Mouse Attractant can be placed in the center of the glue board to attract mice. Do not use peanut butter or other oily food items as the oil may coat glue and render the boards ineffective.
  • Use thumbtacks, nails, or staples to holds traps in place on small ledges, in vertical positions, or in other areas where boards may be easily dislocated.
  • When monitoring insects, use a permanent marker to indicate pests already counted, then continue to use board until full.

Not much luck with Glue Boards

    By Regina on 05/26/2009

I've only caught two mice with these and I've put out 25. The mice are pooping on them, so I know they are walking around them. I noticed that they're putting bits of paper in one of the little boxes as if they are making a nest. I just wonder if the glue is sticky enough.

    Expert ResponseExpert response:
If the boards are placed in a dusty area, the dust may make the board ineffective and the glue not as sticky. Placement is also important. Try placing glue boards about 8 feet apart (don't place too many in the same area), and along a wall or baseboard so that a mouse running along a wall will eventually run right over the board. Finally, while these boards can be folded up into boxes, we recommend using them just laying flat. The box setup works well for catching insects and protecting the glue from dust, while a flat glue board allows mice to more easily run over the board. We appreciate your feedback. Good luck!

Got better results than with other products

    By Elliot on 05/05/2008

I have better results with Catchmaster glue boards than with other glue boards. It seems to me that they are stickier, and I suspect they don't have an odor which repels the mice.

    Great

    By Robert on 03/13/2011

We have the very poisonous Southern California Desert Brown Spider here. We use a dozen of these spread around the house. They trap LOTS of these spiders & various other insects. We change them out every few months or if the glue gets too much dust or too many dead insects. Silverfish, roaches, water bugs, fleas, mites, mosquitoes, & other insects we do not recognize are trapped in these things all the time and we do not have any pets or animals here. The price is wonderful. These also have the (very slight) peanut butter smell in the glue which catches roaches & mice like crazy. We buy these all the time now. We have tried the other styles from here, but like this one the best so far.

Catchmaster Mouse/Insect Glue Boards - CASE 72 boards

    By Gary on 10/19/2010

I like to use them as a flat board and they are very easy to use. The mice like the kitchen because that's where the food is. Mice come out at night so I would put the glue board up against the base boards trim in the kitchen. I would even cut the edge off the board so the clue is right next to the wall. I also found a small hole inside one of the cabinets so I cut off the corner of the glue board. These are the best product I have used---and I have been to all the home centers. Thanks

Q
My pet is stuck to a glue board trap! How do I remove the glue from my dogs paws?
A
The glue from Catchmaster Mouse and Insect Glueboard Trap can be removed using vegetable oil.  If you happen to get a lot of oil on your dogs paw getting the glue off, you can remove the vegetable oil by using Dawn or some other degreaser/cleaner.

Q
My dog ate one of the glue boards, will this harm him?

He ate about 1/3 to a 1/2 a box.

A
Your dog would have to eat "huge" quantities of the actual glue for there to be any risk of poisoning. As with any non-food item your dog consumes, you should monitor him to be sure everything he ingested passes through his system. If you suspect that the glueboard has not passed within a reasonable amount of time or your pet stops eating, you should contact your vet.

Q
How often should these Catchmaster Glue Boards be changed?

Main purpose; Spider extermination.

A
The glueboards will remain good for a length of time depending on where you place them.  They would need to be replaced if either the board becomes full with insects, or it becomes too dusty which will coat the glue and it will not be sticky.  Typically you would replace every 30 days.
