Cy-Kick CS Insecticide - Questions & Answers

With most concentrates including Cy kick CS, you want to be sure to use all mixed solution within 24 hours of mixing. Cykick is a great choice for crickets and scorpions. In the original container, if stored in a cool dry area, the shelf life is 3 years.

There are several products that would do an awesome job controlling scorpions. Cy-Kick CS is a favorite among professional pest control operators. Cy-Kick CS is a micro-encapsulated product. This means that the particles of the active ingredient are contained in tiny mico-capsules, the insect walks onto the treated surface and picks up the capsules on their bodies and then the micro capsules slowly dry out and crack and the active ingredient oozes out on the insect. These micro capsules make the Cy-Kick last for up to 90 days and also make it safer to use around pets, like nosy dogs that can lick or chew treated surfaces. The dog needs to be out of the area while you make the application and can return as soon as it is dry. Be sure to spray in the areas where scorpions actually harbor, rock beds, garden areas, bricks walls, under landscaping timbers and also spray around the perimeter of your home.

Cy-Kick CS is a great product and will do a great job towards helping you to get rid of roaches. For best results, we also recommend that you use a roach bait gel to help get rid of roaches in places where you cannot spray, along with an insect growth regulator (IGR) which helps stop the roaches breeding cycle.  You may want to consider using one of our Roach Control Kits, as they contain all of these products together. Pets and people need to be kept out of the area while products are being applied, but can return as soon as all surfaces are fully dry.  Please take a moment to look over our article on How to Get Rid of Roaches for more information on how to do a complete treatment for roaches. 

We do not recommend storing mixed Cy-Kick CS. You would want to either use the entire gallon within 24 hours of mixing or spray the excess along the foundation of your home. 

Cy-Kick CS as well as any other products are not meant to be stored longer than 24 hours once mixed with water. Most sprayer manufacturers warn against storing insecticides inside the sprayer. Storing liquids (even plain water) inside the sprayer can cause the rubber components to deteriorate quickly and make the sprayer inoperable. Only mix exactly what you can use and discard any left over solution outside in the woods or in a place that is not near any bodies of water and thoroughly rinse the sprayer after each use.

Neither Imidacloprid or Fipronil would be good products for scorpions.  Imidacloprid and fipronil based products are really intended for social insects like ants and termites, and since they do not have much of a knockdown at all, they are not recommended for scorpion control.  They would not have the power to kill a scorpion with their residual control.  Our most popular product for scorpions is Cy-Kick CS, which is microencapsulated so it has a long residual, but also packs a punch.  There are many good reviews on the Cy-Kick page about how it works on scorpions.  We would recommend trying this product instead of an imidacloprid or fipronil product.

Our number one recommended product for customers in the Arizona area is Cy kick CS. Cy-Kick CS creates a thick barrier of microcapsules that is impossible for insects to cross without being exposed to a lethal dose of insecticide. 

Cy-Kick CS is not labeled for army worms, and it is not labeled to be used over the lawn. We recommend using Tengard SFR. Control of army worms will be improved if you cut the lawn prior to treating, lightly irrigate before applying the insecticide and treat in the evening. Large army worms are difficult to control, so it is likely that no matter what you use you will only get limited results. If the worms are very large (inch and a half long) soon go into the soil to pupate and control efforts may be a ineffective. Timing is important and a repeat application may be necessary in some situations.

Cy-Kick CS is not labeled to be applied by spray bottle. By Law we cannot recommend any off label application. You are always welcome to contact the manufacturer Whitmire Microgen 800-777-8570 for further application instructions.

Cy-Kick CS can be applied through a hose end applicator. You would dilute .5 - 1 oz Cykick per gallon of water.

Per the product label, Cy-Kick CS needs to be down for at least 24 hours before it rains. No, you will not need to respray if you sprayed the product 3 days ago. No, the product is rainfast after 24 hours. Please let us know if oyu have any additional questions.

Cy-Kick CS could be applied for mosquitoes.  However, because it is microencapsulated it would not have a very quick kill initially because the microcaps slowly release insecticide over time. This product has a long residual, but not a good first punch.  Our most popular product for mosquito control actually combines a good quick knock down with a long residual, and it is called Talstar P.  We have a great guide here as well Mosquito Control Article. We are not aware of anything being added to Cy-Kick nor the product that you mentioned. Being a microencapsulated product it would generally hold up very well on surfaces alone.

 

 

These products should not be mixed together. There is no valid reason to mix Cy-Kick CS and Bifen IT together.  Bifen IT is a synthetic pyrethroid and Cy-Kick CS already contains a synthetic pyrethroid, so there would be nothing to gain by mixing these products together. Making a pesticide too strong can actually backfire. Areas that are treated with this overly concentrated spray will be repellent and insects will simply avoid the treated areas prolonging the infestation.

Cy Kick is not labeled for full surface broadcast sprays in garages, only baseboard areas and cracks and crevices. For a barrier around the home for Scorpions you would spray all the way around the foundation of the home 3 feet up and 6-10 feet out. The larger the coverage area the more product the scorpion gets on its exoskeleton for a quicker kill. Onslaught FastCap however is labeled for broadcast sprays and can be used outdoors in the same areas as the Cy Kick.

As long as the treated areas had a chance to dry before the rain started you should not need to reapply Cy-Kick CS for 30 days.

Cy-Kick CS would be a great choice for spider control indoors and outdoors. When sprayed, Cy-Kick CS creates a thick barrier of microcapsules that is impossible for insects to cross without being exposed to a lethal dose of insecticide. Exposed insects pick up microcapsules on their hairs and body triggering a rapid release of the active ingredient, resulting in death. Cy-Kick CS is virtually odorless and it dries clear making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications. There are no insect growth regulators on the market for spiders. Cy-Kick is toxic to bees and fire flies. You would want to be sure to apply when bees are not pollinating. Or in areas that fire flies may not be populating.

Cy-Kick CS is labeled to be applied over ornamentals and will not harm your flowers when applied as labeled.
