    Q
Is Delta Dust Insecticide a good product to get rid of ants?
I recently bought this product because I was trying to get rid of ants. I have noticed the ants avoid it and it hasn't been effective. I just wondered if this is effective for ants.
    A
Delta Dust will eliminate ants that cross over treated areas. That being said, ants can be very sensitive to synthetic pyrethroids like the active ingredient that is contained in Delta dust, and can avoid treated areas in some situations. It is helpful to use Delta dust to treat the ant nest directly to eliminate the colony or if that is not possible than to use the dust to treat all of the cracks or crevices where the ants are gaining access to the home. We also carry several products that are non-repellent to ants such as Alpine Dust, Phantom Aerosol and for outdoor use Termidor SC as well as several ant bait products which the ants pick up and carry back to the colony.

    Q
Can Delta Dust be applied under a deck?
Can I apply Delta Dust under my deck to prevent spiders or will the rain wash away the dust?
    A
Delta dust can be applied under a deck but it can be washed away by running water. You may want to consider using a concentrated product such as Talstar P that can be applied with a sprayer and will be rain fast.

    Q
How come I can't dust Delta Dust on baseboards? And how long before it will start working on killing bed bugs
    A
You can use Delta in the cracks and crevices in and around your baseboards. You should not apply it on the outside of the baseboards because it will get moved around just through normal daily activities (walking past, vacuuming, sweeping, etc) and will not remain in the areas where you applied it. Bedbugs usually start dying within 1 week of coming into contact with areas treated with Delta dust. Please note that you should not use Delta Dust alone to combat bedbug infestations as it is slow acting. Please checkout our bedbug kits for our product recommendations.

    Q
How can I treat the attic with Delta Dust for scorpions? It is a large area and hard to get to.
    A
When using insecticide dust such as Delta Dust you should apply it using a hand duster but you will be required to get to all of the areas where these pests can enter. The B&G M1150 duster can give you a little further reach in some areas if needed.

    Q
    Delta dust - anythying similar?
is there anything similar to delta dust that can be shipped to CT? Is this product safe to use with children or will it travel at all? We are thinking of using a dust in our attic (the kids dont go there, but it is attached through a door from our child's room). Looking at controlling, actually completely removing (hopefully) carpet beetle larvae.
    A
You can purchase and use Evergreen dust for use in the attic in CT. The dust should not be broadcast over the entire attic. Instead you should concentrate on dusting the cracks, crevices and voids and other areas where these insects harbor. If you have vents that blow air through the attic and into the home caution should be used to take care the dust is not blown through the vents. To learn more about carpet beetle elimination, please take a few minutes to read our article : Carpet Beetle Pest Control

    Q
What is the difference between delta dust and tempo dust?
I know they have different active chemicals. Deltamethrin vs Cyfluthrin ? Both claim best for bee control ?
    A
The main difference is that Delta Dust is water proof and will keep killing even if it gets wet (other dusts become ineffective if they get wet). Tempo Dust on the other hand is known to have a much faster kill than most other dusts on the market.

    Q
What product do you recommend for ants that are coming out of my electrical outlets?
Mainly in the kitchen but also on the mantel of my fireplace, where I have electrical outlets.
    A
You could definitely use a dust like Delta Dust and puff it into the outlets and wall voids to treat ants. Depending on what type of ants you are dealing with you could use our Complete Ant Kit  as well.

    Q
I live at a lake and have a mud dauber problem outside
Just looking for the best product and procedure to get rid of or at least cut down on them
    A

Talstar P will kill mud daubers like Cicada Killers that come into contact with treated areas for a sufficient amount of time to receive a lethal dose. You will need to dilute 1 fl oz of Talstar P per gallon of water and broadcast spray over the areas where you have noticed activity. Most folks notice only very limited results from broadcast sprays of insecticides for cicada killers because they don't land and walk around for a long enough time before entering their underground burrow. Please read below for the most effective treatment method:

Cicada Killer wasps thrive in disturbed environments, such as landscaped yards and places where bare soil is exposed. You can discourage the wasps from nesting in your yard by cutting your grass on the highest setting and by adding a thick layer of mulch to flower beds during the Cicada Killer Wasp season. These wasps do not like over saturated lawns either, so over watering during their season will help prevent them. Unfortunately, there is no fool proof way to prevent cicada killer wasps. For prevention you can try to use a granular insecticide such as Talstar PL  Granules in the couple of weeks before this pest is known to emerge. For current infestations, you would need to use Delta dust in each individual burrow.

    Q
How long does it take before you start seeing results with the Delta Dust?
    A
How quickly the dust will kill an insect is dependant on how much dust the insect picks up on its body and the size of the insect.  Typically dusts can kill a insect in as little as an hour or as long as 24 hours or more depending on these factors.

    Q
What do i need to use to get rid of crazy ants in my kitchen?
I have ordered Delta Dust and it should be here soon. Will that work to get rid of the ants? What can I use in my kitchen that will not poison me but will keep "all" bugs out of my home?
    A
If you have had the species of ant in your home identified by a professional, and you indeed have the species know as the crazy ant, then you will have a limited amount of products to use to control the colony. Crazy ants are extremely hard to control and most products do not work to eliminate the entire colony at its source which is your main objective. The Delta Dust you ordered will only kill the ones that come into direct contact with it and will only temporarily give you relief over the ants in your home. A better option would be to use a bait labeled for crazy ants like the Advion Ant Bait Gel inside in areas you see them trailing, and use a non-repellant spray called Termidor around the foundation of your home for controlling the population outside and to help drop the numbers inside your home. Both products are items with delayed kills that allow the ants to spread it to other ants in the colony for a larger effect and allows it to get back to the queen. Termidor can only be used outdoors around your foundation of your home but it will kill almost any bug that comes into contact with it and will do a great job of keeping pest out of your home in the future. If used properly, you should not need to spray inside you home for the ants you have currently or any other pest  down the road. As long as you follow the label on both the Advion Ant Gel and the Termidor when spraying, both are completely safe. Even though the Delta Dust would not be the best option for your current pest problem, it is a great barrier dust to use indoors around baseboards and cracksand crevices for added control. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
I have carpenter bees and want to use your Delta Dust and puffer, how much should I apply to each hole?
I've had the holes sprayed by a local exterminater and he has been here four times and is not having much luck.Wil the Delta Dust kill the larve in the nest?
    A
Yes, Delta dust will kill larvae too. At night when they are not active, go up to the opening and place the end of the duster directly in or up to the hole where they are going in and out.  Puff twice from your hand duster directly into the hole.  Then back the duster away about 5 inches and puff once directly at the hole to cover the sides and around it.  Then walk away.  When the bees come out the next morning and land on the siding to go in and out of the hole, they will bring the dust on their bodies back into the nest.  Typically, this process can take a few days depending on the size of the colony.  One important note is that you should only fill your hand duster about 1/4 of the way.  You will not need that much dust, and you have to leave enough space in the duster for air to force the dust out.

    Q
What is the shelf life of Delta Dust?
I have dusted a hornets nest about 3 days ago. It was high up, and uncovered under the eve, and I completely covered the honeycombs in dust. It was delta dust I purchased a year ago, and the wasps are still alive. There is NO WAY they can get n the nest without picking up the dust, yet they are alive.
    A
The shelf life of Delta Dust is 3 years form purchase date. The delta dust should still be effective, as long as it was properly stored in a dry moderate temperature area.

How long Delta Dust stays active in a container?
I have Delta Dust that is few years old. I cannot find any expiration date on the container.
