    Q
Maintenance recommendation of D-Fense SC is 21 days; this seems impractical to me?
Can I increase the strength of spray mixture to 1 oz. per gallon, and increase the spray interval? Any recommendations? A maintenance interval for our home of 6 months has been successful in the past. Thank you.
    A

D-Fence SC states on the label you can use up to 1.5 oz per gallon when treating a severe pest infestation or when longer residual is desired. Please refer to label for application details.

  • Asked by Jeff from Fair Oaks, Ca

    Q
D-Fense SC no comparison to Suspend SC - why?
I've been using Suspend SC for several years with much success. I saw the cheaper "generic" version and gave D-Fense a try. I applied in same manner/mixture as I've been applying Supsend for years. I've never seen more ants. It worked more like a fertilizer! No idea why but the price difference is not that much so I'll go back to Suspend unless you have any advice.
    A

D-Fense SC and Suspend SC contain the exact same active ingredient. Therefore they are the same product. We suggest alternating your chemical every few years to prevent resistance buildup which could be happening in your case. The each only kill the insects that contact a treated area as well. We would recommend reviewing our ant guide here to help eliminate them more effectively.

    Q
Can I use D-Fense SC on my goats? They have lice and I have read that Deltamethrin works
    A
D-Fense cannot be used on animals. We do carry Permethrin SFR 36.8% and it is specifically labeled for use on goats for lice. Be sure to read the product label for full usage instructions.

    Q
Will D-Fense SC kill hide beetle larvae?
Will this kill Hide beetle larvae?
    A

D-Fense SC is an insecticide that will kill adult beetles. You can add an Insect Growth Regulator that is labeled for Dermestid beetles such as Gentrol IGR Concentrate to your D-Fense SC solution to help control the immature stages of these and other listed insects. Be sure you are removing any infested items and cleaning the area thoroughly before applying insecticides.

    Q
    ULV Fogger Use
I would like to use indoors using a ULV fogger in conjunction with SC dust. What is your opinion?
    A
D-Fense SC is not labeled to be used in any type of fogger. It is labeled to be used as a crack and crevice treatment in a pump sprayer. The D-Fense dust should only be used inside the wall voids. We cannot recommend using our products off label. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Q
Best Way to Kill Stink Bugs on 2nd & 3rd floor of house.
For some reaon I don't have any stink bugs on my bottom floor of the house, just a few around the windows. But my second and third floor windows that face direct sunlight get covered up anytime the temp outside gets over 60-degress outside. I can vacuum up 50-75 on one widow and come back the next day and have just as many. Being I can't get up this high on the outside of my house and will have to treat the windows and window seals from the inside, would you use something like this product or one of your aerosols?
    A
To be honest, this time of year there isnt much you can do for the ones that are inside other than your current efforts of vacuuming them up. Stink bugs and similar beetles start making their way inside your home during the fall and emerge the next spring. To prevent them from getting in, you must spray around the window frames, door frames and eaves and edges of the home they could use as entry points every month from August through November and often December if you are in areas where winter hits later in the year. Once they are already inside, they will stay in crevices for the most part and only appear on warmer days or until spring rolls around. That explains why you see them on the windows of the sunny side of the home as that is what they are drawn to and they are trying to figure out how to get back out of your home. You can put insecticide dusts like Cimexa Dust down in crevices and cracks, around seals and in wall voids by removing the covers from plugs/outlets and light switch plates. You would apply a few puffs of the dust in the voids with a B&G Bulb Duster to get a coating the insects can crawl through and hopefully die from before you start seeing them out in the open crawling around. For spraying around the door/window frames inside and out in the fall the D-Fense SC would work great for your needs.

  • Asked by Ed from Folkston, Ga

    Q
Is there a poison or deterrent I can mix with exterior paint to deter Borer Bees in SE GA?
I used to mix my own boat bottom paint many moons ago to deter underwater growth while the boat sat at the dock. I have a huge problem with the big Boarer Bees drilling 3/8" holes in my Pole Barn rafters. Is there a poison or deterrent I can mix with exterior latex and paint on these beams to stop this problem. The bees drill/eat/nest in pressure treated wood and I have heard the only way to stop it partially is by heavy painting. I am extending the Pole Barn and would like to spray the beams and rafters before install. Can you recommend anything I can add to my paint. I can spray with a full face respirator, no one can reach the beams after install, and there are no children around.
    A

D-FENSE SC may be mixed with latex coatings and oilbased coatings such as stains, varnishes and sealers for use to kill crawling and flying insects when exposed to treated surfaces.  Please see our Carpenter Bee Treatment article for more information about treating for this pest.

    Q
Do I have to apply D-Fense SC again after it rains, or if I water my backyard?
    A

D-Fense SC should be applied 24 hours before you are expecting any rain, or before you plan to irrigate.  After 24 hours, it will be rainfast and you will not need to reapply after it rains or after you water.

  • Asked by Barrett from Washington , Dc

    Q
Will D-Fense SC work to prevent mosquitoes?
    A

D-Fense SC would be a good choice for monthly mosquito treatments to your lawn, bushes, trees, and shrubs on the property. For heavy mosquito populations, adding an Insect Growth Regulator like Tekko Pro IGR to  disrupt their life cylce and keep juvenile stages of mosquitoes from becoming reproductive adults.

Repeat outdoor applications every 21 to 30 days wll be needed during high pest season. Also adding a contact syngergist insecticide like ExciteR is a great way for immediate relief of mosquitoes. ExciteR does not leave a residual and will kill mosquitoes on contact or while the applicaiton is wet. These 3 products can be tank mixed together in the same sprayer tank for an all in one application.

We recommend to refer to our Mosquito Control Guide for further tips and information.

    Q
Is D-Fense SC a top choice insecticide for mosquitoes outdoors?
    A

You can use a product like D-Fense SC.  It’s a synthetic pyrethroid that can be reapplied on a monthly basis. You can use it at a rate of 0.75 – 1 oz per gallon of water for mosquito control. When treating for mosquitoes, make sure to spray the underside of the leaves on ornamental shrubs and trees as these are areas they harbor in. Keep in mind that one treatment will not get rid of all the mosquitoes. For high activity, we recommend adding an insect growth regulator, like Tekko Pro IGR, to disrupt their life cycle and keep juveniles from becoming reproductive adults. This also works great on ants, fleas and a variety of other insects.

Take a moment to review our How to Treat for Mosquitoes Treatment Guide for more infromation.

    Q
D-Fense SC the best "overall" perimeter insect spray you offer? How does this differ from store bought sprays?
    A

D-Fense SC Insecticide is a top choice for general pest control and is professional insecticide that is not found in local stores.  It would be stronger than the consumer grade options in stores. It offers a 90 day interior crack and crevice residual and 30 day exterior residual for many common pests listed.

    Q
How does d-dense sc compare to permethrin, particularly for mosquito control?
    A

Both products are extremely similar in the sense that they have will have a 30 day residual outdoors & will need to be applied with an IGR for best control. However, permethrin is oil based while D-Fense SC is water based. We would also recommend looking over our mosquito guide for tips on controlling mosquitoes.

  • Asked by Kevin from Canton, Ga

    Q
D Fense SC Vs suspend polyzone
    What is the difference? Advantages?
    A
While both products do share the same active ingredient, their formulations are very different. D-Fense SC will only last for about 30 days outdoors (90 days indoors) while Suspend Polyzone has been tested and will last for 90 days outdoors. D-Fense SC can break down easier in direct sunlight than micro-encapsulated or polymer-coated insecticides like Suspend Polyzone. Suspend Polyzone has a unique poly coating over the particles of the product which protects it from weathering and makes the residual last longer. Suspend Polyzone was also designed to stay up on the surface of even very porous areas such as concrete or wood which makes the product more available to insects.

    Q
Will D-Fence streak window glass when applied to window casements?
    A

D-Fence once mixed and applied correctly as the label suggests, will not stain anything that water would not.  We would not recommend applying across window surfaces, as applications should be just around the window frames, edges etc.

We would suggest having a wet cloth to use so that you could wipe up any overspray before its dried.

  • Asked by Jon from Sandy
    03/14/2022
    Q
If D-Fense SC Insecticide was left in a truck overnight when temperatures dropped below freezing, is it still effective?
    A

If D-Fense SC was exposed to freezing temperatures for one night, simply bring the product back to room temperature as soon as possible, and shake the product well.

However, prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures and direct sunlight will degrade the effectivity of the active ingredient.
