Provides a 2-3 month residual for long-term insect control.

INSECT CONTROL

INDOORS

D-FENSE SC may be applied in and around residential and non-residential buildings including residential kitchens and food/feed handling establishments.

Mix D-FENSE SC with water and apply indoors as a crack and crevice, spot or general surface treatment with hand pressurized or power operated sprayers or other suitable equipment.

For residential buildings and structures - apply only as a crack and crevice or spot treatment.

Crack and Crevice: Apply D-FENSE SC spray mixture to cracks and crevices in and around baseboards, floors, walls, appliances, areas around water and sewer pipes, and other voids with a low pressure system using a pinpoint or variable pattern nozzle.

Spot Treatment: Apply D-FENSE SC as a spot treatment in and around cupboards, and between, beneath and behind equipment or appliances using a low pressure system with fan-type nozzle.

OUTDOORS

Apply D-FENSE SC as a perimeter treatment, residual spray or broadcast application to lawns, grounds and ornamental plantings.

Apply as a perimeter treatment or residual spray around residential and non-residential settings. Treatments should begin at the first sighting of pests.

Residual Spray: Apply D-FENSE SC as a coarse low-pressure spray at the rate of 0.75 to 1.5 fl.oz. to surfaces of buildings, porches, screens, window frames, eves, patios, refuse dumps, garages and lawns.

Perimeter Treatments: For best results, apply D-FENSE SC to areas where pests are seen and may find entrance. Treat a band of soil or lawn up to 6 -10 feet wide around and adjacent to buildings and treat the building foundation to a height of 2 to 3 feet. Apply as a coarse spray at the rate of 0.25 to 1.5 fl. oz. of D-FENSE SC in sufficient amount of water. (See Mixing Directions for Perimeter Application below). Use an adequate volume to thoroughly and uniformly wet the barrier area but do not allow run-off to occur.

1 of 5 stars  HORRIBLE FOR COCKROACHES
    By Herbert on 01/07/2012
    Verified Purchase

I give this product a ZERO rating for cockroaches. We have applied every drop of what we bought and it seems the roaches are actually thriving on the elixor. We have found no evidence of dead roaches and in fact on several occasions, i have seen them actually drinking the liquid as it was being applied. I wouldn't waste my money on this product again.

Excellent control of cockroaches, spiders, etc. Its not labeled for complete floor coverage indoors so probably not the best product for fleas if you're following the label. Anyone that doesn't get good results with this product is doing something wrong.

By Faye in Dassel MN on 11/03/2017

I treated the south side of my house twice with other products that had minimal effect. Then I used this & it seemed to do the trick. Not fond of the wonky bottle design that I never was able to figure out & the consistency of the product is almost like toothpaste so difficult to work with. All-in-all, I THINK this stuff works but it's mighty pricey. I'll be trying it again next Fall & will know then how effective it really is.

I give this product a zero... Instead of killing the roaches it was like the roaches multiplied... I wish I had read the review that said this was horrible on cockroaches...Then I would not have throw my money away purchasing this product. I did not find one dead cockroach...

QD-Fense SC (Suspend SC) vs Bifen IT (Talstar)
Do you guys have any opinions in comparing D-Fense SC (Suspend SC) vs Bifen IT (Talstar) for a generic spray insecticide? How is one better than the other? What are the pros/cons of each? Should I use both (one indoor vs one outdoor)? I have a family with young children living with me, so obviously they'd have to be safe. Looking for your opinions comparing the two.

ABoth the D-Fense SC and the Bifen IT contain synthetic pyrethroids for active ingredients and will provide very similar results. The only advantage to using Bifen IT is that it is known to be super gentle on most plants (do not use on edible vegetation). Both products can be used indoors and outdoors and both products are safe to use in houses with children and pets.

QHow do Suspend SC and this differ?

AD-Fense SC Insecticide with Deltamethrin has the same active ingredient as Suspend SC Insecticide, but is much less expensive. D-Fense SC is actually the generic form of Suspend SC.

QIs D-Fense SC as safe as Suspend SC? I have many kids playing in a yard treated with Suspend. Needs to be as safe.

AD-Fense SC contains the same active ingredient as Suspend SC so you will need to follow the same precautions as you would if you were using Suspend SC. Children need to be out of the area while you are applying the D-Fense SC and they can safely come back in the area as soon as it is dry.

QHow many linear feet of indoor space will 1 gallon of D-Fense (diluted/mixed) cover?
I am considering doing my own home pest control. I have scorpions. I am looking at this as my interior perimeter pesticide. I need to determine how much is required to do my house.

AIt all depends on the person applying it of course, but typically one gallon D-fense will treat 1000 square feet, but if you are only spraying baseboards, underneath appliances, etc....then usually 1/2 gallon of solution is plenty to treat the inside of any home.

QD-Fense SC (Suspend SC) vs Bifen IT (Talstar) Which one is better for fleas?
Which one is better for fleas?

ABoth Talstar and D-fense work great on fleas. Talstar will prove to be a more quick kill. We also recommend mixing in an  insect growth regulator like Nyguard to stop the reproduction process. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

QHow do I measure out D-Fense SC from the bottle?
Do I open the cap on the long throat to get product to flow to short measuring cup then replace it to pour into mixing container? Since it is so in need of care, I am cautious about trying without knowing method. All instructions on mixing and application not on showing how to get it out of bottle

A

The D-Fense SC†has two pour spouts because one is for measuring. You squeeze the bottom of the bottle and the product will go up the straw on the side and into the measuring cup to be mixed. Then you just need to use the cap on the small reservoir side to dispense the product. The cap on the other side is more for professionals who are mixing larger tanks of product to do many treatments or high-volume treatments.†For general maintanance, you will use 0.25 fl. oz. of†D-Fense SC†per gallon of water. This can be sprayed every 21 days. Be sure to remove any children and pets from the area you are treating until the product has had time to dry.

QHow do I apply D-Fense SC to treat bedbugs?

A

D-Fense SC†used to be the go to product for bed bug control for eradicating adults as a crack and crevice treatment (should not be the only product for treatment). However, there have been signs that some strains of bed bugs have become resistant to it since it has been used so much.† Still, bed bug control has much better success if you use a variety of products. Our†bed bug kits†have many products that are considered the top bed bug control products. Our kits also come with full instructions.† They have a very high success rate with our customers and your best chance of eliminating a bed bug infestation. We would suggest adding an IGR (insect growth regulator) called†Gentrol†to halt the reproductive cycle of the bedbugs. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article/videos†on How to Get Rid of Bedbugs.

QCan you mix D-Fense SC and Dawn dish liquid to kill Boxelder bugs more quickly?
I have heard that dish liquid mixed with water will kill them in a few days. I am simply covered up with them this year. I cant wait to try the D-Fence SC out or anything you can recommend.

A

We recommend that you apply D-Fense SC with a synergist such as Exponent for a quicker kill.†Exponent will increase the speed of kill and level of control of pyrethroid, D-Fense SC. We also offer Cimexa Dust†with a dust applicator for the wall voids, etc. We recommend that you treat monthly on the exterior with D-Fense SC (as weather permits) especially during July-November and the spring (when the exit hiding areas due to warmer weather). The ones that make their†way inside should be vacuumed. Exclusion is a great way to help keep them outdoors as much as possible. The exterior areas can be treated with D-Fense SC and you can incorporate a surfactant (in replace of dish soap). Please take a few moments to review our treatment article for a successful eradication program on How to Get Rid of Boxelder Bugs.

QWill D-Fense SC kill hide beetle larvae?
Will this kill Hide beetle larvae?

A

D-Fense SC is an insecticide that will kill adult beetles. You can add an Insect Growth Regulator that is labeled for Dermestid beetles such as Gentrol IGR Concentrate to your D-Fense SC solution to help control the immature stages of these and other listed insects. Be sure you are removing any infested items and cleaning the area thoroughly before applying insecticides.

QCan I mix Gentrol IGR with D-Fense SC?
Is this the best approach? Or is it better to spray one and wait a period of time then spray the other? Also how can they be used with bedlam aerosol spray?

A

D-Fense SC†and Gentrol IGR can be tank mixed together. You will add 1 fl oz of Gentrol IGR and†0.25 - 0.75 fl oz of D-Fense SC per gallon of water. Bedlam aerosol should be applied once every two weeks to cracks and crevices and other listed areas on the label. It is not necessary to apply to the same areas.†

QIs D-Fense SC safe for exotic birds?
After it dries, would it be safe for birds who are allowed to fly freely around the home? Customer didn't say what kind of birds, my guess, parakeets or parrots?

A

We would recommend removing the birds and†their cages during the application, and until the product dries†with proper ventilation. The residual of the product would be perfectly safe provided they did not come in direct contact with it. We recommend confirming with the vet if this not possible for other recommendations.

QWhat is the shelf life of D-Fense SC?
I live on a lake and am I wanting to use this to control spiders on my dock. Is this a good choice?

A

D-Fense SC has a three year shelf life from the date of purchase if stored away from extreme temperatures. It should only be applied 25 ft away from water. We do carry Essentria IC3 that can be applied to the dock areas for spider control.
