    Q
    Sandbur Control
I've tried Balan 2.5 as a pre-emerge for sandburs applied near Memorial Day, July 4th & again Labor Day. This is the third year of using the product but still have a huge problem with sandburs. I've applied according to label instructions. I'm located in central Texas and very sandy soil. Will Dimension tackle sandburs with better results. If so, what is the best schedule for application?
    A
Balan 2.5 G Herbicide is not specifically labeled to control/prevent sandbur. Yes, Dimension 2EW would be a better option for sandburs. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions. For the best time on when to apply this product in your area, we would suggest contacting your Master Gardener at your local cooperative extension office as they will have information for your specific region.

    Q
Can I mix imidacloprid with Dimension?
    A

We recommend mixing and applying each separately according to the label instructions for each product. Dimension 2EW Herbicide should be applied prior to weed germination at appropriate ground temperatures as directed and the imidacloprid at the correct timing in your area as directed for grubs.

    Q
Can I apply Dimension in winter in order to overseed my lawn in the Spring?
I live in New Mexico and want to overseed my lawn in the Spring with Bermuda grass. I am primarily trying to prevent crabgrass. Can I apply Dimension now so that I can be overseed in late Spring?
    A

Dimension 2EW Herbicide states that you must wait 3 months before overseeding after a single application or 4 months after sequential applications. Generally we recommend that you apply a pre & seed in opposite seasons. For example if you apply a pre in the Fall, you will want to seed in the Spring, and if you seed in the Fall you would seed in the Spring.

    Q
3000 sq ft of Bermuda grass, it takes 40 gal to cover it. How much Dimension should I mix in 40 gal water?
    A

You will use 0.33 - 0.73 of an ounce of Dimension 2EW per 1,000 sq ft. The exact usage rate will depend on your location and the application program you choose. Please refer to pages 4-6 of the Dimension 2EW Herbicide Label to find the exact usage rate for your needs. So if you are treating 30,000 sq. ft. on the low end you would add 9.9 ounces to your 40 gallons of water, or on the high end you would add 21.9 ounces to your 40 gallons of water.

    Q
Dimension 2EW (pre-emergent) mixed with Negate 37WG (Post emergent)?
I plan to do the second application of Dimension 2EW in the next few weeks (9 weeks after the first application). Can I mix Negate 37WG with the Dimension 2EW to kill weeds already on my yard? (To avoid doing two applications this time). Thanks.
    A
It certainly would be easier but because Dimension 2EW Herbicide requires to be watered in with at least 0.5 inch of water after the application, it will be best if you make an application of Negate 37WG Herbicide later in the day or the next day for best results.

    Q
Accidentally sprayed dimension on 20x40 ft bare ground I had planned on seeding this spring. Can I till up the bare ground and then plant grass seed (tall fescue blend)?
    A

According to the manufacturer's product label, a 3 month wait time for seeding a treated area with Dimension 2EW Herbicide is advised.  Although you could till the treated area in attempts to break the preemergent barrier, it is still likely that the germination of the tall fescue seedlings will still be somewhat disrupted, causing less than ideal results.

Is turflon ester ultra ok to spray around chickens?
    A

Dimension 2EW should be safe to use around chickens as long as you are following the instructions on the product label. You would need to keep them out of the area until it dries, typically for 3-4 hours.

The manufacturer of Monterey Turflon Ester Herbicide states that you should not use it around or near chickens.

    Q
Is this product safe to use around and under spruce trees and all evergreens?
I have spruce trees with broadleaf weeds under them, is it safe to use under the spruce?
    A
Yes, Dimension 2EW Herbicide states a varierty of spruces & evergreens on the tolerant list. Generally once something is established, a pre-emergent would not hurt them as it only prevent things from growing.

    Q
    Is Dimension 2EW organic?
This is used where I live and I am told it is organic, yet quite a few dogs have black, tarry bloody diarrhea and blood in vomit.
    A
No, Dimension 2EW is not considered to be organic, and it is not OMRI listed. People and pets should be out of the area while the application is being made and until the treated area is completely dry. Once dry, then it is safe to resume normal activity as long as the instructions on the product label were followed. If you believe pets are showing side effects from contacting this product, we would recommend reaching out to your vet as soon as possible with the SDS information.

    Mixing Dimension pre-emergent with post-emergent.
I live in SW FL and have a crappy mostly weed mixed lawn. Can I mix and apply Dimension liquid pre-emergent and liquid WeedStop post-emergent together? Currently use both but hoping to save some time. Thanks.
    A

Yes, you can generally mix a post-emergent with Dimension 2EW Herbicide (or any pre-emergent) and apply both at the same time.  Just be sure to follow the labeled rates for each product and do a small tank mix test to be sure everything combines well.

    Is it toxic to pollinators?
    A

Dimension 2EW Herbicide should be safe when used as directed.   That being said, we are not aware that it has been tested around pollinators and cannot guarantee it would not harm them.  We would recommend checking with DOW directly for advice.  They can be reached at 800-992-5994

  • Asked by Thom from Prescott, Az
    07/13/2023
    Q
We are in Prescott, AZ when should we apply the dimension pre-emergent for best results?
    A

Dimension 2EW is a pre-emergent herbicide, so it is best applied before soil temperatures reach those that are optimal for the weeds you are targeting. This is generally before soil temperatures reach 55 degrees in the Spring. You should not apply when there is snow on the ground or temperatures are below freezing. In the Fall, you would want to apply before soil temperatures cool to those favorable for these weeds, usually below 70 degrees. We recommend contacting your local Cooperative Extension for the best recommendation on timing in your area.

  • Asked by Norm from Lynden, Wa
    08/15/2023
    Q
Will Dimension 2EW herbicide kill what a lawn company described as "tall fescue pasture grass"?
The whole development has clumpy dark green broad bladed grass that stays green even when the rest of the lawn goes dormant. It spreads and takes over. A lawn company called it a fescue pasture grass and said Dimension would kill it without harming my creeping fescues and rye mixes; working both as a post and pre emergent. I can't find literature to confirm.
    A
Dimension 2EW Herbicide is a pre-emergent and only provides early post-emergence control to crabgrass. Additionally, Dimension is safe for Tall Fescue, so it would not rid your property of that grass.

  • Asked by Alex from Rock Hill, Sc
    09/18/2023
    Q
What is the appropriate setting for using a Chapin hose end sprayer to apply Dimension?
It's a Chapin professional hose end sprayer with adjustable settings
    A

Dimension 2EW Herbicide does not say how much to use per gallon of water but rather per 1k square feet/acre. In order to determine how much water to use, you'd need to calibrate your sprayer which is about impossible with a hose end sprayer. Below is a video on how to determine how much water to use: https://www.domyown.com/how-much-product-per-gallon-calibrate-your-sprayer-to-find-the-answer-v-539.html
