Dimension 2EW Herbicide should be applied when the soil temperature is at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit. This is generally done in early to mid-March through the beginning of April depending on the temperature.
Yes, Dimension 2EW Herbicide and Prodiamine can be mixed and applied as long as you have done a Compatibility Test in a glass jar to ensure the 2 are physically compatible prior to tank mixing into your sprayer. Each product label has instructions provides instruction on doing a Compatibility Test with other herbicides and you want to always follow the recommended rate per 1000 sq ft for each herbicide.
Here is a quick video on How to Tank Mix Lawn Care Products that can also explain more.
Yes, Dimension 2EW Herbicide can be used on St. Augustine grass. Please review the product label for complete application instructions.
If using Dimension 2EW Herbicide as a pre-emergent application, no surfactant is needed. If you are using Dimension 2EW Herbicide for post emergent crabgrass control, the product label calls for non-ionic surfactant, such as Hi-Yield Spreader Sticker Non-Ionic Surfactant.
A surfactant, also referred to as wetting agents or spreader stickers, help your liquid lawn and garden products adhere to, or "wet", the foliage they are sprayed on, ensuring you get the most out of the products. Pre-emergent herbicides are applied with the goal of the active ingredient working it's way down into the soil in order to target weed seedlings to disrupt the germination process, so it does on emerge from the soil.
Yes, Dimension 2EW Herbicide is labeled for controlling sandbur. Please review the product label for more information.
You should not apply Dimension 2EW Herbicide or other herbicides while there is snow or ice on the ground. Early spring pre emergents should be applied when the soil temperatures are at an average just under 55 degrees after 3-5 consecutive days. Slightly warmer air temperatues for a day/night or two may not be enough to raise the soil temperatures enough to get the soil warm.
You can contact your County Extension Office for exact timing recommendations for your area or check for your current and historical soil temperature online by your zip code using a tool such as Greencast.
You will use .28 - .73 of an ounce of Dimension 2EW per 1,000 sq ft. (normally 1-2 gallons of water). The exact usage rate will depend on your location and the application program you choose. Please refer to pages 4-6 of the Dimension 2EW Herbicide Label to find the exact usage rate for your needs.
Dimension 2EW Herbicide is not labeled fore pre-emergent control of chamber-bitter.
You may consider instead using Gallery 75 DF Specialty Herbicide which is a specialty pre-emergent herbicide that prevents the growth of broadleaf weeds, including chamber-bitter, and is labeled for use on most established cool-season and warm-season turfgrass types, if used as directed.
Dimension 2EW Herbicide is safe for pets once dried. Generally one sticker would have such a small amount of product that it should not affect your pet. However, if you see any signs of sickness we recommend taking your dog to the vet.
Please refer to the product label for application rates and more information.
With a product like Dimension 2EW and most other selective herbicides, the application rates are given in ounces per 1000 sq ft rather than ounces per gallon. Water is only acting as the carrier to distribute the active ingredient evenly and thoroughly each 1000 sq ft on the property so whether it takes you 0.5 gallons of water or 2 gallons of water, it doesn’t matter as long as you adequately cover 1000 sq ft.
Dimension 2EW Herbicide is applied at 1-2 pints per acre, which breaks down to 0.28 - 0.73 oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. You should use sufficient water according to your spray equipment and how fast you move when making the application to apply the correct amount of product for the size area you are treating. We have a great video here to assist you with calibrating your sprayer.
Dimension 2EW Herbicide is applied at the rate of 0.28 - 0.73 oz. in atleast 0.5 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For treating 20,880 sq ft, this would come to a total of 5.8 fl oz to 15.1 fl oz of Dimension 2EW. This can be appplied in a single application at the higher rate or applied at the lower rate to allow follow up applications to provide longer weed control.
For simplicity purposes, split the coverage area into 2 sections and do 2 fills of the 15 gallon tank sprayer. Mix 2.9 fl oz to 7.5 fl oz per 15 gallons of water to treat each section.
Yes, Dimension 2EW Herbicide is labeled for centipede and will provide pre emergent control of poa annua. Pre emergents typically need to be applied when soil temps are just under 55 degrees in early spring and under 70 degrees in late fall for best results however timing can vary depending on your region.
Please view the product label for more information.
We recommend contacting the Master Gardener at your local cooperative extension office for their advise on the best time this year to apply pre emergents as it can vary depending on weather and environmental factors.
Dimension 2EW Herbicide doesn't need to be agitated constantly but does need to be mixed very well. Please view the full product label for more information.
Dimension 2EW Herbicide is not labeled to control hog peanut. We found the article below that may be of some help: https://hort.extension.wisc.edu/articles/american-hog-peanut-amphicarpaea-bracteata/
It seems a bit late to treat with Dimension 2EW Herbicide in your area as the weeds are growing and temperatures are above 55 degrees. It can be tank-mixed with post-emergent herbicides. We do recommend applying pre-emergents prior to weed germination and post-emergent herbicides when the weeds are actively growing. If tank mixing, please perform a jar test first and test a small area prior to treating larger areas. Always refer to the most restricted of the two tank mix instructions on labels. We recommend you consult with your county cooperative extension office Master Gardener for specific timing in your area in the spring and fall to apply preemergents such as Dimension 2EW for more effective weed prevention.
In Arizona, you would generally make two applications of Dimension 2EW Herbicide 5 to 10 weeks apart. We would recommend the Program 2 or 3 rates of 1 oz per 1,000 sq ft and then 1.5 oz per 1,000 sq ft, or 2 applications of 1 oz per 1,000 sq ft each, according to the product label. Be sure that you immediately water-in the application with a high volume of water any time there is a barrier like gravel over the ground. This will help get more of the active ingredient down to the soil so that it is not just absorbed into the rocks before it can reach the dirt. (Since this product is still intended to be used around turfgrass and ornamentals, you may not get the same results on a stone area.) At the 1 oz,1000 sq ft rate, you would use 0.22 oz of Dimension 2EW in 1 gallon in your sprayer to cover 220 sq ft. Please confirm with your county Master Gardener at the cooperative extension office for specific timing of application.
Dimension 2EW Herbicide does not kill actively growing spurge but it will prevent it from growing if applied at correct timing.
Please provide the date (including around the time of application) Dimension 2EW Herbicide was applied, the size area treated (sq ft), the amount of product used, and volume of water used. Have you had a soil test done this year? Do you water the lawn regularly? If so, how often? Have you experienced a lot of rain recently on the treated turf? We look forward to assisting you!
We recommend mixing and applying each separately according to the label instructions for each product. Dimension 2EW Herbicide should be applied prior to weed germination at appropriate ground temperatures as directed and the imidacloprid at the correct timing in your area as directed for grubs.
