    Q
I just received my shipment of Dismiss Turf Herbicide. I need to know the amount to use with a gallon of water?
    for Cool grass fescue
    A

Dismiss Turf Herbicide comes in a bottle that contains 6.0 ounces of concentrate, which will cover 0.5 to 1.25 acres, depending on the weeds you are treating and the turf. Many professional herbicides will come in a size that will cover an average of one Acre (43,560 sq ft). It is important to keep in mind that your water is just a carrier, and how much water is needed to get uniform coverage will vary with your equipment and the speed at which it is moving. Therefore, it is hard to estimate exactly how many gallons of water will be used when you are covering a large area. You can break down the rate of 4-12 ounces per Acre to 0.092 to 0.275 ounces per 1,000 square feet, using adequate water to get thorough coverage of the area using your equipment.

    Q
Will Dismiss Turf damage shrubs or trees?
    A

When used as directed, Dismiss Turf will not harm established shrubs or trees if they are accidentally sprayed during application. Since this is a broadleaf weed herbicide, you should not apply Dismiss directly to ornamentals or ornamental beds.

  • Asked by Chris from Milledgeville, Ga
    11/10/2015
    Q
Can I use Dismiss Turf Herbicide on bahiagrass to treat for clover?
    A

Dismiss Herbicide is a very good product that is labeled to kill clover in bahiagrass. The mixing ratio is 0.25-0.375 fl. oz. per 1000 square feet. This will generally mix in a gallon of water. This product is also labeled for various types of other broadleaf weeds, including nutsedge, ground ivy, etc.

There is a disclaimer on the label regarding this product and bahiagrass. There may be a temporary discoloration to exposed leaf surfaces. Treated turf grass will recover with new growth. To reduce the potential for discoloration, do not apply Dismiss to turf grass that is already weak from weather, mechanical, chemical, disease or other related stress. Maintain proper culture practices such as adequate moisture and fertility levels to promote healthy turf growth.

  • Asked by Lisa from Glenmora, La

    Q
Is Dismiss Turf Herbicide safe to use it on Liriopes?
Is this stuff safe to spray on Liriope without killing them?
    A

The product label for Dismiss Turf Herbicide does not list liriope, monkey grass, or mondo grass as tolerant to Dismiss applications. Because the label specifically indicates that applications should not be made to ornamentals, we believe that the Dismiss could harm the liriope. We do sell many herbicides that are labeled for weeds around ornamentals or to kill the liriope, but we would need more information about your situation to give an educated recommendation. You may discuss your situation with our Customer Service staff by calling 866-581-7378 M-F 9a-5p EST.

    Q
If I read the bottle of Dismiss Turf Herbicide as 6.00 oz., then how many gallons of finished solution can I make using .025 ounce per gallon of water?
Strictly looking at the decimal points this looks like 6oz would mix 240 gallon. That's a little over 27 cents per gallon. Many items cost $15.00 per gallon (Prosedge?).
    A

Dismiss Herbicide will control more weed species than the Prosedge, however it may be easier to use a product like Prosedge if you only have a small area to cover.

    Q
My Dismiss is no longer in solution?
My Dismiss, made in 2013 has fallen out of solution. Shaking the bottle brings it back but it immediately falls out of solution when the shaking stops. Is there anything that can be done to get it to stay in solution? Isn't this supposed to have a 3 year shelf life? If so, what happened to cause this?
    A
Dismiss Turf Herbicide does have a shelf life of 3 years if stored properly. Was it stored in a cool dry area?

    Q
After using Dismiss Turf Herbicide, how long would it be ok to seed a new lawn?
For the obvious the seed needs watering.
    A

Per the product label for Dismiss Turf Herbicide: Reseeding, overseeding or sprigging of treated areas within one (1) month after application of this product could inhibit the establishment of desirable turfgrasses. Overseeding of bermudagrass with perennial ryegrass at two (2) to four (4) weeks after an application can be done if slight injury to perennial ryegrass can be tolerated

    Q
Will Dismiss control Bahiagrass in St Augustine? I see that Image has some effect.
    A
Dismiss will not control Bahiagrass in St. Augustine. St. Augustine is very fragile so it is very difficult to control Bahiagrass in it.  Blade is labeled for use in St. Augustine but there are some conditions for this application.  The grass needs to be well established and healthy and you cannot spray when it is over 85 degrees.  You should use a ½ ounce rate per acre of Dyneamic Surfactant with the Blade, and a second application 4 weeks later if the Bahia is still growing.  Blade can stunt St. Augustine if the grass is not strong, so adding a good foliar fertilizer with the application is good to do.  Coron 28-0-0 + Turf Nectar well help the St. Augustine grass overcome this.

  • Asked by Jim from Swartz Creek, Mi 48473
    05/14/2013
    Q
Does Dismiss kill poa annua selectively?
cool season grasses ... what is the proper mix ratio for a 2 gal. tank sprayer? Does freezing affect it (if stored in winter in unheated garage)?
    A
The Dismiss Turf Herbicide is not labeled to kill poa annua but it is not listed as a grass that it is safe to be sprayed on. Tolerant cool seasons grasses are : Creeping Bentgrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Rough Bluegrass, Fine & Tall Fescue, Perrenial Ryegrass. No product should be stored in an area where it can freeze or get too hot. Insecticides and herbicides need to be stored in a temperature stable environment out of direct sunlight to sustain the longest shelf life and strongest potency of the product. A product that is safe on several cool season grasses and will cover broad leaf weeds as well as grassy weeds and Poa Annua would be the Echelon 4SC. Echelon 4SC is a selective/post emergent product like the Dismiss but better suited to your needs. You can review the product label for dilution rates for your type of yard. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

  • Asked by Dan from Springfield, Mo
    03/28/2020
    Q
Have not mowed yet this spring. should I mow (high cut) before using Dismiss on Star of Bethlehem to help?
    A
    Hi Dan,

Yes, I would do at least one mowing before applying Dismiss.  Then wait about 3 days before spraying and allow at least 3 days after spraying before mowing again.  This will make sure the grass and weeds are actively growing for the most weed control absorption.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,
