You can do the soil drench treatment by digging a 6x6 inch trench around the foundation and pour 2.4 fl oz of Dominion 2L into 4 gallons of water per 10 feet. With the sides of the house with the slope make sure you are doing a backfill method. With the backfill method you want to treat the soil that was removed when digging the trench before placing it back into the trench. If you need any more information about our performing a soil drench treatment you can look on our Termite Treatment guide
Dominion 2L Termiticide/Insecticide can be used in the soil and/or around the foundation. Where you are using the product will depend on what you are treating for. For termites, you will dig a trench around the structure and apply directly to the soil. For pests, such as ants, you will apply topically one foot up and one foot out.
Talstar P will kill ants that come in contact with it, but will not eradicate them. Dominion 2L sprayed around the outside perimeter of the structure will. You should mix .6 fluid oz. per gallon of water to treat for carpenter ants. This will give you approximately 1000 sq. feet of treatment. Please see our Carpenter Ant Treatment Guide for more information and tips about treating for carpenter ants.
Yes, Dominion 2L is labeld to kill Carpenter Ants and Carpenter Bees as well. Please be sure to follow the label instructions. See our Carpenter Bee Pest Guide and Carpenter Ant Pest Guide for more tips and information.
Dominion 2L has a shelf life of 3-5 years if stored away from extreme tempertures. Please take a few moments to review our How to Get Rid of Termite Treatment Article and the Barrier and Soil Treatment Article for more specific details and videos on treating via drilling, trenching, rodding and applications to slabs. Dominion 2L<span font-size:13.3333px"=""> is labeled to use on trees to help protect against boring beetles. Treatments should begin in May or June and should be done every year to protect trees from the Emerald Ash Borers. Most people use a 5 gallon bucket or a large watering can to apply Dominion as a soil drench. You will need 0.1 to 0.2 fl. oz. (3 to 6 mL) of Dominion 2L per inch of trunk diameter for trees. It is recommended that you use the higher rate for boring beetles. The amount of water that is used will vary depending on soil conditions and volumes that are easy for applicators to use. The minimum amount of water that should be used is 1 pint per inch of trunk diameter for trees but you may use 1 quart -1 gallon of water per inch of trunk diameter for trees. Denser soils such as clay do not accept water as readily, so the lower volume of water is suggested. Since sandy soils can accept more water, using the higher volume of water is preferred. After the soil drench has been applied you should water it in with at east 1/2 inch of water. Note: Water simply acts as a carrier and it is important that even distribution of the product is achieved. Thus, more water may be used if the applicator feels runoff will not occur and proper penetration of the root zone is achieved. Insecticides applied to the soil are taken up by the roots and trans-located throughout the tree or shrub. Root/soil drenches offer the advantage of requiring no special equipment to apply (other than a bucket or watering can). However, surface layers of organic matter, such as mulch or leaf litter, can bind the insecticide and reduce uptake. Before applying drenches, it is important to remove or pull back any mulch or dead leaves so the insecticide solution is poured directly on the mineral soil. It is also important to keep the soil around the tree or shrub moist for the next 10-14 days after applications to encourage uptake.
Dominion 2L should only be applied to the exterior of the structure for ants, termites, soil drenches etc for listed uses on the product label. It should not be mixed with Talstar P. Talstar P can be applied quarterly to the interior cracks and crevices and exterior listed areas. Dominion 2L is a non-repellent, but Talstar P is not, so mixing together would not be advised.
We normally would not recommend to apply Talstar P over the same area a Dominion drench has been applied. It could cause the Dominion to pick up some repellency. Now, if you are only looking to apply a foliar spray to a tree or shrub you drenched with Dominion that would be just fine as long as that plant is non-edible.
Dominion 2L once in the soil will bind with the soil and stay there approx. 7 years. Yes, on the shelf if stored in a cool dry area will remain at top efficacy for up to 3 years. Dominion 2L is not labeled to be applied to wood to be used indoors. If you are looking for a product to treat and prevent wood boring pest, Boracare would be the best option.
Yes,Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate can be used to treat emerald ash borers on trees. You would use 0.1 to 0.2 fl oz (3 to 6 ml) per inch of trunk diameter of tree circumference. The amount of water that is used will vary depending on soil conditions and volumes that are easy for applicators to use. Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate is not labeled to be injected into the tree itself, only as a soil injection. We would recommend contacting the manufacturer to confirm if this product can be used in that application. The trunk injection method is not used as often since most home owners do not have a tool to inject the trunk with and have the ability to do the soil drench. Control Solutions phone number is (281) 892-2500
We would recommend using Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate. This is labeled for use on trees, as well as around the perimeter of your home for ants. This is also labeled for other insects as well. Be sure to spray the area directly where the ants are. The mixing ratio is 0.6 fl. oz. per gallon of water.
When using Dominion 2L as a soil drench to trees and shrubs it should last for a full 12 months, however if you have a heavy pest problem you can retreat the soil after 6 months.
You would perform a termite treatment the same way as with other structures when using Dominion 2L Termiticide or other similar products. You would still trench around the foundation and apply 4 gallons of solution per 10 linear feet in a trench 6 in x 6 in. If you can access the crawl space, then you should also trench the interior at the same rate, and you would treat around any piers there. If you see evidence of live termite activity, then you can also drill into the hollow block to treat inside it. You could then seal the holes with Trebor plugs. You can view more information in our Termite Treatment Guide.
No, Dominion 2L is not labeled for ticks in your lawn.
The mixing ratio for a systemic treatment on trees is 0.1 to 0.2 fl. oz. per inch of the trunk diameter. Be sure to use this in at least 5-10 gallons of water. The amount of product is what is important when treating with Dominion 2L.
You need to get the Dominion into the ground, so you would typically want to drill holes in the tree stump, and around the tree stump into the ground, and then inject the Dominion inside any holes. It will touch the termites that are inside and underneath the stump and eliminate them completely.
Dominion or Termidor could be used in the trench around the house and would be great to do so. Termidor would last longer in the soil, 10 years or more whereas Dominion is about 5-7 years.
