    Q
Left trench open after applicaton for a few days and it rained (after 24 hr) is it ok?
I installed the product as recommended but didn't get the trench backfilled for a few days. About 3 days later it rained pretty hard. Do I need to re-apply treatment?
    A
Since you said that it rained about 24 hours after, the product should have had enough time to bind with the soil. We recommend back filling the soil and making an applciation on top of the filled in soil. If you have any other questions please contact us 866-581-7378

    Q
    What About Bricks?
The back of my house has a glassed in patio with a brcik patio on th outside. How would I treat this perimiter?
    A
Without seeing exactly how your patio is laid out its hard to determine the exact method you need to use, however i will give you the options for all scenarios. If your patio is a concrete patio surrounded by bricks, you will need to trench along the foundation of the home, continuing the trench around the bricks as you come up on either side of the patio. You will also need to drill holes 12 inches apart through the concrete patio where the concrete comes up to the home, and if you have wood studs in the walls of the patio anywhere, you would need to drill through the concrete on the side of the patio where the concrete comes up to the bricks. If you have any other questions please let us know.

    Q
I treated my ash trees a month ago using "Dominion' as a drench at .2 oz per 1" of diameter as recommended.
I am currently losing a lot of leaves on most of my ash trees. What can I do next??
    A
It is hard for us to determine how the Dominion is working on your tree without knowing what pest you are treating the ash tree for. Please provide us with more information and we can better diagnose your treatment and if there are any other factors effecting your tree. As Dominion is a systemic, it can take several weeks for the product to actually fully translocate all the way through the tree and start effecting the insect feeding on and destroying it. Many times a foliar application is needed as well to help speed up the control of the insect.

A month ago I applied "Dominion" as a drench to treat the emerald ash borer. Applcation rate was .2 oz per
inch of diameter mixed with an adequate amount of water to pour around the tree base (perhaps 5 gal). I have kept the ground moist. I am currently observing major foilage drop. What can I do next?? These are critical landscape trees!

    Q
A professional company treated my home years ago, what continuing treatment do I need to do?
They treated the crawl space, placed bait stations around the house, and administered annual treatments. I want to save money and continue treatments myself. Do I need to trench to make a treatment?
    A
For a complete treatment we always recommend trenching 6inx6in around the structure and applying Termidor SC. This will protect for up to 10 years.

I had a company apply Termidor SC about 7 or 8 years ago. Can I apply Dominion now?
I saw a termite the other day near a tree which is about 10 feet away from my garage, which is attached to my house. I am thinking of applying Dominion 2L. Can I apply this even though I had Termidor treatment by a professional company about 7 or 8 years ago?
    A
Yes, you can now apply the Dominion 2L. The Dominion and Termidor will not negatively impact each other.

Is it safe to use in a home with a pregnant woman, first trimester?
A sunroom adjacent to the Master bedroom was treated, separated by glass doors, not a wall
    A
Dominion is only labeled for use indoors as a spot treatment. As long as she was out the area until the treated area dried and the dominion was not sprayed anywhere else it will not harm her. You may alos contact the manufacturer Control Solutions at 281-892-2500

    Q
Is it safe to treat with Dominion 2L an area where water line will be in the trench?
My home is a slab construction and my water supply line is routed within 12" of slab perimeter.
    A

The water line should be PVC, which will not allow the product to penetrate into the water line.  Also, if the line is 12” deep and you dig down 6” deep, then you should be fine as far as not hitting the water line.

    Q
Hello I have a yard surround by 9ft ficus trees and also my St. Auguestin grass has cinch bug.
Do you recommend this product? If so how do want me to apply to both bush and grass?
    A

You can use Dominion 2L to treat trees and shrubs for chinch bugs. Most people use a 5 gallon bucket or a large watering can to apply Dominion as a soil drench. You will need 0.1 to 0.2 fl. oz. (3 to 6 mL) of Dominion per foot of shrub height or 0.1 to 0.2 fl oz per inch of trunk diameter for trees. The amount of water that is used will vary depending on soil conditions and volumes that are easy for applicators to use. The minimum amount of water that should be used is 1 pint per foot of shrub height (or inch of trunk diameter for trees) but you may use 1 quart -1 gallon of water per foot of height (or inch of trunk diameter for trees) as well. Denser soils such as clay do not accept water as readily, so the lower volume of water is suggested.  Since sandy soils can accept more water, using the higher volume of water is preferred. After the soil drench has been applied you should water it in with at least 1/2 inch of water. Note: Water simply acts as a carrier and it is important that even distribution of the product is achieved. Thus, more water may be used if the applicator feels runoff will not occur and proper penetration of the root zone is achieved. Insecticides applied to the soil are taken up by the roots and translocated throughout the tree or shrub. Root/soil drenches offer the advantage of requiring no special equipment to apply (other than a bucket or watering can). However, surface layers of organic matter, such as mulch or leaf litter, can bind the insecticide and reduce uptake. Before applying drenches, it is important to remove or pull back any mulch or dead leaves so the insecticide solution is poured directly on the mineral soil. It is also important to keep the soil around the tree or shrub moist for the next 7-10 days after applications to encourage uptake. We also recommend using a product with an active ingredient that is different than the soil drench for a foliage application while you are waiting for the Dominion to translocate through the ficus. Talstar P is the most popular choice for foliage application on ficus for white fly.

    Q
How often should I drench for whitefly when using Dominion 2L?
I have several triple cluster Christmas Palms infested with whitefly. I read the suggestions on drenching with Dominion 2L, but how frequently should I drench? I don't want to use too much and hurt the plant or too little and not get rid of the bugs
    A
According to the manufacturer the product should last in the plants you treat for the season up to 1 year, so 1 application per year should be all you need. As long as you follow the application directions on the product label you will get rid of the whiteflies and the Dominion is designed to be absorbed into the tree without harming it. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
Can you mix Dominion 2L paints and stains? Will it be effective?
    A
Dominion 2L cannot be mixed into paints or stains. Dominion 2L can only be mixed with water and is used for soil treatments. The only wood protectant that we carry to prevent boring insects and fungus is Boracare. Boracare should be mixed with water and applied to bare wood. After  the treatment has dried you can paint, stain or seal the wood as needed.

    Q
Can you use Dominion 2L to eliminate stink bugs?
I use this for carpenter ant control - can I use to get rid of stink bugs?
    A

The Dominion 2L is not labeled to treat for stink bugs and we would not recommend using for this pest.  We have put together an Overwintering kit that is just for stink bugs. This kit includes Demon WP insecticide with Cypermethrin, Eco PCO dust and a hand duster for easy application. You should treat once a month through November for best results

    Q
My neighbor recommended Dominion 2L, but in the crystal form to treat white flies. Do you have the crystals?
She told me that it would treat white flies in my palm trees and in my ficus trees, but to fertilize at the same time. What do you think? Please let me know.
    A

Dominion 2L is not in the form of crystals, it is a liquid concentrate. It is is labeled for white flies as a systemic control. It is not a fertilizer. We recommend for white fly control that you measure the height of shrubs and diameter of the trees and apply the solution as a soil drench. You can apply Talstar P for a foliar spray (on not edible trees and shrubs) while the systemic control is working for immediate control.

In most cases you must trench and treat the interior of the crawl space wall and each pier that comes into contact with the ground for a complete barrier treatment.

    Q
Which product combines effective control of termites outdoors at the most economical cost?
    A
Dominion2L would be a great product choice (economical) to treat for subterranean termites. If a colony moves in, this product will eradicate them by transfer kill. You would want to dig a 6in x 6in trench around the structure. By applying the product in the trench, you will be protected from subterranean termites for up to 7 years.

  • Asked by Trisha from Lake Charles, Louisiana
    11/08/2013
    Q
Termites are in fallen branches near our trees. Can I apply D2L directly to the termites to control a colony
    A
If you just spray the area you would have to reapply every 6 months and termites might not even come in contact with the solution, because it is not in the ground where they are. You can wipe out an entire colony best when you dig a trench and apply Dominion 2L in the soil as a trench treatment for many reasons. One, by applying the Dominion into the soil, you are allowing the product to bind and stay put for up to 7 years. Two, the depth of the trench ensures that the termites will come in contact with it. You can just spray the branches and you may wipe out the colony, but it would be a better guarantee if you did a more thorough treament by pouring some into the soil around the branches.

    Q
Will Atrazine control white flies as well as Dominion 2L ?
Is Atrazine a systemic pesticide ?
    A
Atrazine is an herbicide, so it kills weeds and not insects. For white flies, Dominion 2L is a great choice as well as Adonis 2F.
