    Q
Can dominion 2L be used under 6"x6" cedar timbers used for raised bed home vegetable garden?
Can the cedar timbers be treated before they are placed on the ground?
    A
If you are trying to prevent termites from getting into the wood you can certainly treat the soil beneath them with the Dominion 2L. Dominion would not be a product to treat the wood with as it would not last more than a few months. You would want to treat the wood with Boracare which will actually soak into the wood rather than just sit on top of the surface and will protect the wood as a whole. Once dried you would want to seal the timbers to make sure the Boracare stays in the wood over time. If sealed, the Boracare will last for the life of the wood protecting it, and once the wood has dried, it is safe to use as you intend.

    Q
After applying Dominion 2L, is it ok use spray solution annually? We have had damage from mites.
Just want to make sure we have cured the problem, is using to much an issue?
    A
Dominion 2L is not labeled to treat mites. It can be applied in the soil against the foundation for a subterranean termite treatment or sprayed (1 ft up and 1 ft out) directly against the structure topically (once every six months) for insects that travel on top of the soil. It should not be kept in the sprayer more than 24 hours after it is mixed. You should not spray too much or too often. For more information on ways to treat mites, please refer to our Mite Control Page. If you have any questions, please contact us at 866.581.7378.

    Q
How effective is the product after being exposed to freezing tempratures?
I left my bottle in the garage over the winter months.
    A
The Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate should be stored at moderate temperatures and shouldn't freeze. However, if freezing should occur then dethaw at room temperature. Do not heat to speed up the dethaw process. It is hard to say whether the Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate needs to be replaced besides decreased efficiency but it would be recommended to replace it.

Is chlorinated tap water ok to use with Dominion 2L?
I was wondering if any of the additives cities apply to public water supplies would deter termites from going through the treated areas.
    A
Regular city tap water and any chemicals the city may add to it will be fine to use when mixing the Dominion or any other insecticide.

    Q
Will perimeter treatment using Dominion 2L be sufficient on a paver floor?
I have a shed that has visible termite tubes. The shed has a cement footer around the perimeter but has pavers laid on sand for the interior of the 12x16 shed. My question is "Will perimeter trench treatment using Dominion 2L be sufficient to kill throughout the entire floor"?
    A
The perimeter treatment with Dominion 2L will provide a great barrier treatment. The only concern is that the pavers will give cracks and access areas underneath the shed floor. If by chance the termites are deep in ground they do not come into contact with the Dominion 2L that you use for the barrier treatment, they will still be able to come up through the pavers through cracks and crevices. We recommend drilling into the pavers and pouring the mided solution directly into the holes. This ensures that you reach the soil underneath the floor directly. Come off the interior shed wall 2-3 inches, and drill 18-24" deep holes every 10 -12 inches apart. We recommend doing this in a checkerd board pattern over the entire slab. Mix 3.2 fl.oz / 4 gallons of solution and pour directly into drilled holes (each hole will hold approx 1/2 gallon of solution) You can refer to our article "How to Perform a Termite Treatment"

    Q
Can Dominion be sprayed on floor joists
There is termite activitie in floor joists which are cover by a drop ceiling in the basement. Can Dominion or Termidor be sprayed on the wood? Or should the trench treatment be done first and then followed with Boracare?
    A
If you see galleries the termites have eaten away in the floor joists you can spot treat directly in those galleries with Dominion or Termidor. However if the direct galleries can not be accessed, spraying the wood would not be recommended nor helpful as it will not penetrate into the wood. Do a soil treatment with either of the products, give it 90 days to eliminate the colony, then treat the floor joists with Boracare for a life long prevention on the wood.

    Q
I have carpenter ants will Dominion 2L work?
    A

Dominion 2L should be applied (1 ft up and 1 ft out) directly up against the structure once every 6 months for a topical barrier for carpenter ants. We also recommend that you bait for them. We carry the Dominion 2L along with a gel bait and a granular bait in our Carpenter Ant Kit #2.

    Q
Is it necessary to trench in crawl space if I trenched exterior and used Dominion 2L in ground?
We trenched the entire exterior and used Dominion 2L. I don't think it is possible to trench in crawl space....any other options to protect the house/kill termites in sill plates? I was thinking about injecting foam into sites where we find soft wood. I have some Dominion left, can I inject that? If so, how? Thank you!
    A
If you have used Dominion 2L, and you are able to trench inside the crawl space, you should do so. You should also trench around any piers under the house that have contact with the soil. You can apply Dominion 2L as a liquid or as a foam into areas of active infestation to spot treat. Keep in mind that damage without any live termites could be old and no longer an active site.

    Q
Can Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate be used to treat a tree that is infected with emerald ash borer?
    A

Yes,Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate can be used to treat emerald ash borers on trees. You would use 0.1 to 0.2 fl oz (3 to 6 ml) per inch of trunk diameter of tree circumference. The amount of water that is used will vary depending on soil conditions and volumes that are easy for applicators to use. The minimum amount of water that should be used is 1 pint per inch of trunck diameter for trees, but you may use 1 quart-1 gallon of water per inch of trunk diameter of for trees. Denser soils such as clay do not accept water as readily, so the lower volume of water is suggested. Since sandy soils can accept more water, using the higher volume of water is preferred. Note: water simply acts as a carrier and it is important that even distribution of the product is achieved. Thus, more water may be used if the applicator feels runoff will not occur and proper penetration of the root zone and trans-located throughout the tree or shrub. Root/soil drenches offer the advantage of requiring no special equipment to apply (other than a bucket or watering can). However, surface layers of organic matter, such as mulch or leaf litter, can bind the insecticide and reduce uptake. Before applying drenches, it is important to remove or pull back any mulch or dead leaves so the insecticide solution is poured directly on the mineral soil. It is also important to keep the soil around the tree or shrub moist for the next 10-14 days after applications to encourage uptake.

    Q
Can Dominion 2L be used as a direct injection to stop elm bark beetles?
I have an infestation in a mature elm. I also have a NM Pesticide Applicator License.
    A

Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate is not labeled to be injected into the tree itself, only as a soil injection.  We would recommend contacting the manufacturer to confirm if this product can be used in that application.  The trunk injection method is not used as often since most home owners do not have a tool to inject the trunk with and have the ability to do the soil drench. • Asked by Kellie from Orange

    Q
How do I treat a house on blocks with Dominion 2L Termiticide?
    A

You would perform a termite treatment the same way as with other structures when using Dominion 2L Termiticide or other similar products. You would still trench around the foundation and apply 4 gallons of solution per 10 linear feet in a trench 6 in x 6 in. If you can access the crawl space, then you should also trench the interior at the same rate, and you would treat around any piers there. If you see evidence of live termite activity, then you can also drill into the hollow block to treat inside it. You could then seal the holes with Trebor plugs. You can view more information in our Termite Treatment Guide.
