    Q
Can Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate be used to treat a tree that is infected with emerald ash borer?
    A

Yes,Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate can be used to treat emerald ash borers on trees. You would use 0.1 to 0.2 fl oz (3 to 6 ml) per inch of trunk diameter of tree circumference. The amount of water that is used will vary depending on soil conditions and volumes that are easy for applicators to use. The minimum amount of water that should be used is 1 pint per inch of trunck diameter for trees, but you may use 1 quart-1 gallon of water per inch of trunk diameter of for trees. Denser soils such as clay do not accept water as readily, so the lower volume of water is suggested. Since sandy soils can accept more water, using the higher volume of water is preferred. Note: water simply acts as a carrier and it is important that even distribution of the product is achieved. Thus, more water may be used if the applicator feels runoff will not occur and proper penetration of the root zone and trans-located throughout the tree or shrub. Root/soil drenches offer the advantage of requiring no special equipment to apply (other than a bucket or watering can). However, surface layers of organic matter, such as mulch or leaf litter, can bind the insecticide and reduce uptake. Before applying drenches, it is important to remove or pull back any mulch or dead leaves so the insecticide solution is poured directly on the mineral soil. It is also important to keep the soil around the tree or shrub moist for the next 10-14 days after applications to encourage uptake.

    Q
Can Dominion 2L be used as a direct injection to stop elm bark beetles?
I have an infestation in a mature elm. I also have a NM Pesticide Applicator License.
    A

Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate is not labeled to be injected into the tree itself, only as a soil injection.  We would recommend contacting the manufacturer to confirm if this product can be used in that application.  The trunk injection method is not used as often since most home owners do not have a tool to inject the trunk with and have the ability to do the soil drench. Control Solutions phone number is (281) 892-2500

    Q
How do I treat a house on blocks with Dominion 2L Termiticide?
    A

You would perform a termite treatment the same way as with other structures when using Dominion 2L Termiticide or other similar products. You would still trench around the foundation and apply 4 gallons of solution per 10 linear feet in a trench 6 in x 6 in. If you can access the crawl space, then you should also trench the interior at the same rate, and you would treat around any piers there. If you see evidence of live termite activity, then you can also drill into the hollow block to treat inside it. You could then seal the holes with Trebor plugs. You can view more information in our Termite Treatment Guide.

    Q
Can Dominion 2L be sprayed directly onto hemlock branches to treat for wooly adelgid?
Have already poured solution in ground holes around hemlock tree.....
    A

Dominion 2L will be most effective when applied as a soil drench for pests such as wooly adelgids. If you have branches that are very badly infested, then you may want to trim these branches rather than trying to control a heavy population there. If you would like to use a product that will have a faster topical kill for existing adult adelgids, then you could use a pyrethroid insecticide such as Talstar P.

  • Asked by Roy from Yuma, Az
    03/17/2017
    Q
Is spraying Dominion 2L onto the soil effective?
My mobile home in Yuma AZ has concrete all around it. Would spraying into the soil underneath it be effective?
    A

If you are considering using Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate for a termite treatment around the mobile home and there is concrete around the foundation, then you would need to drill holes into the foundation in order to apply the termiticide to the soil under the concrete. You would need to use a large hammer drill with an 18 or 24 inch drill bit about every 12 inches, then you would still apply 4 gallons of solution per 10 linear feet around the foundation. You can read more about this treatment in our Termite Prevention Article.

  • Asked by Aaron from Little Rock, Ar
    10/18/2017
    Q
How do I pre-treat a 640 sq ft. slab for termites using Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate?
    A

Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate is applied at one gallon every 10 sq ft. Some of our customers also use a 5 gallon bucket and pour the 5 gallons over 50 square foot sections which will be much faster than using a hand pump sprayer which comes out slowly.  It is very important to apply more around the perimeter edges of the slab, around plumbing pipes that will come through the slab, and along expansion joints if you know where they will be.  Since these are the more likely entry points of termites you want to make sure you treat more heavily around these areas.  You should take general precautions when applying any product which would be to wear gloves, protect your eyes if it is windy, and treat only in the designated area where your slab will be poured. You will need at least 2- 27.5 fl oz bottles to treat 640 sq ft (64 gallons at one gallon every 10 sq ft).

Does Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate work on Argentine ants?
I have lines of these ants on my property and want to get rid of them..
    A

Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate is not labeled for argentine ants.  If you need to treat around the outside of your home, we would suggest a product like Termidor SC.   Maxforce Quantum Ant Bait would be a good choice if you need to treat indoors.

  • Asked by A. from Lakewood Ranch, Florida
    04/09/2018
    Q
What rate & injection method would I use to apply Dominion 2L for ash borers?
I purchases Doninion 2L to treat some ash trees. I want to apply the product directly to the tree to avoid runoff. I have heard of people simply drilling holes in the root flair around the circumference of the tree, and filling them with the undiluted pesticide. Is this an acceptable method? What rate of Doninion 2L is recommended for the ash boring beetle? Your website says
    A

We recommend a root drench using the higher rate of 0.2 oz of Dominion 2L per inch of trunk diameter at breast height to treat insects like ash borers. We do not recommend drilling into trees or roots unless you are already an experienced arborist who has performed this type of treatment successfully before. Drilling will stress the trees, and if they already have ash borers, the trees are likely already under quite a lot of stress. An alternative treatment would be doing a bark band application of a dinotefuran product, such as Safari 20SG. Safari translocates very quickly through plants.
