    Q
It is now February, can apply Dominion 2L to treat grubs in my St Augustine lawn near a Mango Tree that fruit is starting to grow? Would this affect the fruit and how many ounces per gallon/per 1000 sq ft would be needed?
    A

Dominion 2L Termiticide does not list mango trees as a tolerant fruit tree acceptable for application. Dominion 2L can be used to treat grubs in the lawn areas outside the canopy/drip line of the mango tree as if the application is abosorbed through the root zone, the fruit would unable to be harvested for year.

We would generally recommend Milky Spore Powder for treating grubs in lawns, ornamentals, around edibles, fruit, nut trees however this product is restricted to be shipped to the State of Florida.

Please review our How to Get Rid of Grubs for more information on eliminating this pest.

    Q
Is Imidacloprid dangerous to Earthworms when applied to the soil as a systemic on turf?
I am applying Imidacloprid in mid-Summer to treat for grub larvae. I don't want to adversely affect the underlying earthworms in the lawn's soil
    A

Earthworms have a protective mucous on their bodies that helps protect them from pesticides and they live well below the surface of the soil and pesticides cannot penetrate that far down to be effective. The active ingredient in Dominion 2L Termiticide Imidacloprid only has been shown to have acute toxicity to earthworms. In no case did a long term effect on earthworm populations occur, so this product will not harm the earthworms on your property.

    03/24/2021
    Q
How far away from water can the Dominion 2L Termiticide treatment be performed?
Maybe a footage answer if there is one.
    A

Since the Dominion 2L Termiticide has a long soil residual, we do not recommend using this product within at least 25 feet of a body of water such as pond, lake, stream, etc. You should not apply this product where the water table is very shallow or to soil that is too saturated to accept the product. Also avoid areas where runoff can occur and displace the treated soil.

    Q
Why do you not have Dominion 2L Termiticide classified for indoor use of ants?
Clearly it says you can apply inside for "ants" doesn't specify the species, Unless you are looking at WDO portion? It also clearly says Spot crack and crevice on the inside. ( Look in Perimeter pest control)
    A

Dominion 2L Termiticide is not labeled for use indoors except to spot treat where there are live termite infestations. The Perimeter Pest instructions are for outdoor use only.

    Q
Is Dominion 2L safe to be applied in a livestock pasture to treat a large colony and mounds of Cutter Ants? There is an area bout 20ft in circumference I need to treat.
    A

We recommend that you consult with your local agricultural department to see what they recommend for use in livestock pastures for cutter ants. Dominion 2L Termiticide cannot be used in pastures for cutter ants and It does not look like there is much on the market for this use.

    Q
Will Dominion 2L kill thrips on roses?
Systemically will it reach the rose buds? Those suckers feast on the flowering parts.
    A

The Dominion 2L can be used as a systemic application to roses and other plants for thrips and it would do a great job. If you have a heavy population of them though, you may find that you need to do a foliar application  to the buds while the systemic makes its way through the plant to eliminate them and protect them for the rest of the season. Products like Talstar P are often used in this instance to spray where they are currently damaging the plants and provide residual control for a month or so on the surface. If you use the Dominion, you would apply at the rate of 0.2-0.4 oz per foot of shrub height in roughly 1-2 gallons of water based on your rose bush size.

    Q
Will Dominion 2L Termiticide work to prevent or kill the Eastern White Pine tree weevil?
    A

Dominion 2L Termiticide is not specifically labeled for Eastern White Pine Weevils only annual bluegrass weevils and black vine weevils. Bifen IT is labeled for "weevils" in general and the active ingredient Bifenthrin is known to be effective for white pine weevils. It is important when using a foliar application that treatments start when adult weevils first start to appear in spring, usually around mid-April. At this time, Bifenthrinseemstobetheonlyactiveingredientavailabletohomeownersforwhitepineweevilcontrol. We also suggest you contact your local cooperative extension office for more tips on the best treatment time in your specific area.

    Q
What about limits on trench and drench around foundation using Dominion 2L?
Around my house there are a few areas that are challenging to trench around 6 inches wide and deep along the perimeter. When using Dominion 2L, what are the concerns if there was no trench, but the 4 gallons per 10 feet were poured along the base slowly enough to allow soaking along the base with minimal runoff from the base of the foundation?
    A

Simply pouring a termiticide such as Dominion 2L around the foundation will not provide ample protection from termites. There is no guarantee how deep the product will absorb into the ground, and you need a termiticide at least 6 inches deep for termite protection. Another option would be to create holes using a rod or dowel that is at least 6-12 inches deep every 12 - 18 inches, then you would still be appling 4 gallons of solution per 10 feet by pouring the product evenly into each hole.

Otherwise, bait stations such as the Advance Termite Bait Stations are placed 2-4 feet out from the structure, outside the dripline of the roof.

    Q
What is the application rate for soil drenching with Dominion 2L Termiticide on a Live Oak Tree that measures 187" in diameter?
    A

Dominion 2L Termiticide is applied at 0.1 to 0.2 fl oz per inch of trunk diameter for trees at the base of the tree inside the drip line. For a tree measuring 187” in diameter, the rate of Dominion 2L needed would would come to 18.7 to 37.4 fl oz for soil drenching. The minimum amount of water recommended for trees is 16 oz of water per inch of trunk diameter but can use more if needed. Based on the product label recommendation of 16 oz of water per inch of trunk diameter for trees, a minimum of 23 gallons of water would be needed. Keep in mind, water simply acts as a carrier and it is important that even distribution of the product is achieved.

After the soil drench has been applied you should water it in with at east 1/2 inch of water. Before applying drenches, it is important to remove or pull back any mulch or dead leaves so the insecticide solution is poured directly on the mineral soil. It is also important to keep the soil around the tree or shrub moist for the next 7-10 days after applications to encourage uptake.

Please review the product label for more information.

    Q
Is Dominion 2L Termiticide labeled to be used for fleas in the lawn? Is this pet safe for dogs?
    A

Dominion 2L is not labeled for fleas or ticks. For flea and tick infestations consider using our Outdoor/indoor flea kit which contains the insecticide Onslaught and the Insect Growth Regulator Martins IGR. The combination of a good long-lasting insecticide and an insect growth regulator is needed to eliminate flea and tick infestation.

    Q
Will Dominion 2L kill earthworms (night crawlers)?
    A

Night crawlers is in the same family of earthwroms which are known to be mostly beneficial creatures. There is not a product on the market labeled for earthworms (night crawlers) Since Dominion 2L Termiticide has not been tested on Night Crawlers, we cannot say that they would help in eradicating them.

We would suggest contacting your local Cooperative Extension Office for treatment options to help with night crawlers in the lawn.

    Q
Termidor SC and Dominion 2L cannot be used in Louisiana for post construction barrier treatments, what can be used in Louisiana for trench treatments for termites?
    A

Due to the high water table and potential for regular flooding in the state of Louisiana, most of the soil termiticides such as Dominion 2L are not for use in the soil in that state. This means only unique and safer formulations that wont get into the water are allowed, or bait stations in instances where liquids are not the preferred option. The two main termiticides that are not restricted to soil use in Louisana are Altriset and Phantom. Altriset is what most customers use due to its newer formulation and safety for the environment, along with its great termite control abilities. If you feel trenching is not going to be what you would like to do,  we do carry Termite Bait Stations as a great alternative home protection option. The guide linked here is extremely helpful and goes through step by step instructions as well as "How to" videos for both treating with a liquid termiticide as well as installing bait stations.

    Q
Is Dominion 2L Termiticide effective for grub worm treatments?
I believe Armadillos are after possible grubs in my lawn and want to kill the food source to deter the Armadillos.
    A

Live Trapping and eliminating the food source are both good methods to eradicating Armadillos and other turf insect predators from your lawn. Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate is labeled for grubs but more for preventative treatments. For best results, soil applications should be done in mid June to mid July prior to grub egg hatch. Depending on your region, grub egg hatch is typically from late July throught late August.
For actively feeding grubs, Dylox 6.2 Granules is recommended for immediate grub control within 24 hours of the application being watered in. Mature Grubs may require a second application.
