    Q
If I seed the lawn Sept. 1st and put Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery down 60 days later, will it still be effective?
    A

Timing when applying Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery will vary depending on the target weeds as it must be applied before they germinate.
Please contact your local cooperative extension office to determine the correct timing of the application as this will vary greatly from region to region as well.  You can apply a post emergent herbicide at the same time for control of anything actively growinng.

The product label of Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery does not state a specific setting for your spreader. Please take a moment to watch our How to Use a Spreader - Correct Lawn Spreader Settings video for instructions on how to calibrate your spreader setting on your own. Q
Settings for proper spreader coverage with Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery
We have used this in the past with mixed results. We have read the disclaimers by the manufacture on all of the things that make it so difficult for them to provide a simple application chart for broadcast and drop spreaders. They actually ensure that it is the customer's responsibility to do the best they can. We wonder why the more prominent manufactures have been able to figure this out and list spreading applications with a simple chart on each bag. Maybe FertIlome should do some more research. You know, instead of putting everything on the user. This stuff kind of works ... we think. But we are tired of guessing and are now going with manufactures that help eliminate guess work. The ones that provide a chart and helps ensure best results.

Due to how many thousands of different spreader types and granulated products such as Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery there are on the market, there are no master lists that allow us to know the spreader settings for each individual spreader and product used. The best thing to do to make sure you get the results you need from the product is to place the amount for 1000 sq/ft into your spreader and choose a setting somewhere in the middle or a notch or two below that. Walk a 1000 sq/ft area and note how much is being dispersed as you go. If you find the product is being put out too quickly and you feel you will run out before you cover the whole area, you can move the setting to a smaller option. If the opposite is happening and you find you have lots of product still in your spreader after you've covered 1000 sq/ft, you can move the setting up to release more product at a time. We also have a handy video showing how to calibrate your spreader.

    Q
What setting do I use to achieve a rate of 5.0 lbs. per 1000 sq ft of Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery on the Scotts Edge Guard rotary spreader?
    A

Unfortunately, we do not have the spreader settings for that specific combo and the manufacturer does not list that spreader on their bag of Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery. Due to there being thousands of granules on the market and just as many different types of spreaders, you will want to calibrate your spreader to the product you are using and its application rates. You can see a short video on how to accomplish this below.

    Q
Will Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery help prevent puncture vines (goatheads) from emerging?
I've have been battling goatheads on bare ground in Arizona for 4 years. Nothing I've tried has allowed my dog to go through a summer without getting these thorny devils stuck in her paws. I've hand pulled them all, dowsed them in 41% gluphosphate, and hand drug and old piece of carpet over my entire yard every year, and they still take over my yard every spring, along with the crabgrass.
    A

Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery is not labeled to prevent puncturevine. Pendulum 2G Granular Herbicide or Monterey Weed Impede would be better options to prevent puncturevine.

    Q
Is Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery recommended for pre emergent control of spotted spurge in Kentucky Bluegrass?
I have an increasing problem with spurge (spotted). My turf is 100% Kentucky Blue grass, 5 varieties, that I cut at 3/4" with a McLane reel mower. Due to my climate and cutting height, I cut my turf twice per week. It is very dry and hot in the summers, especially the last 3 or 4 years. We have stretches of 4-5 days in the high 90s and low 100s.
    A

Ferti-Lome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery would be a great option for pre emergent control of spotted spurge, broadleaf weeds an annual grassy weeds. For Spotted Spurge, apply at the rate of 4.6 to 5.7 lb per 1000 sq ft. Please view the full product label for more information.

Pre emergent herbicides can help prevent spotted spurge outbreaks if you apply them in late winter before weed seeds germinate. Time the application, so it occurs before the soil temperature exceeds 55° to 60°F at a depth of 1 inch.

Mowing should be delayed 2 days before or 2 days after the application for best results.
