Fertilome Weed Free Zone

VERY Disappointed
By J. on 05/11/2015
I live in Oklahoma and have a lawn with more weeds than grass. Products from this site have saved my life several times so I did my research, and read great reviews for WFZ. I purchased some along with a Chapin hose end sprayer. I applied the product as directed and assumed I would see some results in a few days. Nothing, so I waited a week, nothing, so I waited for 10 days-it has been two weeks and the weeds are slightly lighter in color-thats it! I am on a budget and am very disappointed about the money I spent needlessly and quite baffled considering the reviews! Where do I go from here? BTW, I love the sprayer-reviews were spot on with it...
Expert response:
You may have weeds that are not covered under the Weed Free Zone. Also, if the weeds are not actively growing or are under stress from drought or extreme heat, it will take more time for the herbicide to be effective. If you have more undesirable than desirable plants, you can also use a non-selective herbicide such as RoundUp QuickPro to clear the entire area, and then reseed the lawn to start fresh: http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/roundup-quikpro-15-oz-packs-p-1125.html

A product that really Works
By Robert on 03/08/2016
Living in California, we have had a drought for several years. So not being able to water the lawn as we would before the drought, The lawn has nothing but weeds, stickers everything but lawn. I had call in to DoMyOwnpest Control, and asked what would be the best product to use, they recommended Weed Free Zone. Within days it started working. I am very happy with the results

Great Weed killer
By Debra on 04/08/2016
I started using this weed killer last year after using straight 2,4D for years. It is a much wider spectrum weed killer ( 2, 4 D plus two other weed killers) and kills all of the weeds in my yard except crab grass. I have Tifton Bermuda and St Augustine grass in my yard and the Weed Free Zone has no detrimental effects on the grass. I highly recommend this product.

My lawn finally looks super!
By Mary on 05/04/2017
This herbicide does what others can't. Kills tough coastal weeds I fought for years, like wild violet, without killing or damaging my St Augustine and Bermuda grass. This go-to herbicide that can be applied Spring, Summer & Fall to keep weeds under control during hot weather. Who else says that? Now my efforts are finally paying off :)

Great stuff
By Ray on 08/21/2017
I'm using this Weed Free Zone on Virginia Button Weed. I've tried numerous products on this annoying weed and ALL failed. Weed Free Zone seems to have done the trick. All areas that I sprayed the weed appears to be dead. Hopefully it won't come back.

Kills Chamberbitter!
By Susan on 07/22/2016
AND wild violets. Even though I put down pre-emergents (Dimension and Gallery) this spring some of the little buggers are coming up in my fescue lawn. Chamberbitter looks like a little Mimosa tree and it is very difficult to control according to the three lawn services that I hired and fired. I've taken matters into my own hands and finally have a weed free (almost) lawn. About twice a week I walk around and lightly spot spray any weeds that emerge so they can't mature and form seed. WFZ even damaged some crabgrass. The pre-emergents worked well but I think next year I'll put down a second application and continue to use the WFZ for any weed that dares to rear its ugly head.

Great herbicide to treat dollarweed
By Steven on 06/14/2020
Used on St. Augustine. Applied at low-medium strength (1 oz / gal) in mid May with a surfactant. No apparent change in the dollarweed 1 - 2 days after application. However, after 2-3 weeks the dollarweed began turning yellow and is dying. St. Augustine shows some stunted growth, but otherwise is not affected. Very pleased with the results. Did not have any effect on wild violets, but this plant is notoriously difficult to treat. Plan to mix at a higher strength this fall and spot treat this weed.

Works well but use during proper season
By Stefan on 09/28/2016
I had bought this in late Spring and didn't find the time to apply it until late June. I followed the directions and got zero results trying to eliminate creeping Charlie in my lawn After doing some further research I realized that this works best in Spring or Fall. I bought another bottle and applied in September and it worked much better. Killed about 60-70% of the area I treated. I will reapply in early Spring next year and hopefully kill off the rest

Only product that worked for me. Sprayed gallons of weedkiller that supposedly worked nothing did. I had to spray twice. My lawn was heavily infested. First spray killed 60%. A large area was sprayed so a lot was missed. Sprayed second time BYE BYE Charlie all gone!!

Amazing stuff
By Kevin on 10/01/2018
We needed to control Creeping Charlie in a large Bahia lawn in Central Fl. We applied Fertilome Weed Free Zone using a one gallon hand sprayer and within 2 days the weeds were brown and wilting. We treated areas that had become a thick carpet of Creeping Charlie, areas where it was still sparse and spreading in thick grass, and everything in between. What we got was dead weeds and unaffected grass. We mixed at the recommended rate and did not use a surfactant. As long as the spray fully wets the leaf surface of the weed they meet their demise. Wanted to thank all of the reviewers that took the time to review this product. Although we were still shocked at how quick and effective it was - without harming our lawn at all - we made the decision to purchase at your recommendation, and we are grateful we did.

amazing product to get rid of clover leaves and weed
By Jill on 07/10/2018
This product really works. I start notice the difference around 3rd day after I spray it. I am so glad I found this one. I had tried so many kinds that I got from Home Depot and nursery places to treat the clover leaves problem in my yard, but non of them worked. Will definitely buy this every year to keep the week away and save my time and money.

It's the best!
By Brian on 05/06/2019
This product is ridiculous!! I have tried just about everything on the market and this is by far the best. It didnt hurt the lawn one bit and it kills everything in your lawn but the grass within a few days. It's well worth the price and much more if you want fast results.

worked on florida snow pulsey
By Florida on 10/18/2019
So far so good. My Bahaia & other bladed grass/weed is alive and the florida snow pulsey and clover are brown. :) Of course I'd rather be in the "no-lawn" camp, and use NO chemicals... but unfortunatley HOA forces us to keep lawns. So I use this sparingly in the small spots before they get bigger and destroy the lawn (as florida snow does). This did exactly what it is designed to do. For that I'm giving it the rating.

Fertilome Weed Free Zone 8oz bottle
By Mary on 06/12/2020
Out of all the items I had purchased in the past to get rid of the Florida snow (little white flower that grow in your grass), this is the only product that took care of that problem. This Weed Free Zone really works and it does get rid of the Florida snow. You do not need very much of it and it you mix it with water in a Chaplin container or any container with a sprout. Mix 1/2 water, 2 Tablespoons of the Fertilome Weed Zone and fill the bottle the rest of the way with water, Then all you have to do is spray your weeds. It does not take very long for the weeds to disappear. Do your Own also recommends that you fertilize your lawn after the weeds are gone to fertilize with Milogranlite for the bald areas to sprout up fresh healthy grass and prevent the weeds from coming back. Thank you Do Your Own for your recommendation and assistance. I will be shopping on line with you in the near future. Also shipping was fast too. My order came faster than the due date for delivery. TI will recommend Do Your Own to my friends and family members. Thanks, again Do Your Own. If anyone has needs for their lawn, DoMyOwn is the place to check out. If you need assistance, they will be happy to help assist you and recommend products according to what your lawn needs. Thumbs up for DoMyOwn!...

GREAT FOR MIXED BAHIA/CENTIPEDE LAWN
By William on 09/12/2020
It's difficult to find a broad spectrum weed control that doesn't hurt either Bahia or Centipede. Even though it isn't labeled as such, the 24D will kill Doveweed. I made spot treatments for Buttonweed, Doveweed, Beggarweed, Spurge and Clover in August & September in North Florida with fantastic results - It killed the target without harming the grass. I will be spraying my entire lawn next Spring.
