    Q
Do you need to open the bag and pour out the pellets? Can I just place down the sealed bag of Final pellets?
Is it true that you just place the sealed package of this stuff and not open it? Will they will eat through the package to get the contents?
    A
You do not need to open the Final Rodenticide Pellet Place Packs. The rodents wil indeed chew right through the bags and consume the bait.

    Q
Is Final rodenticide place packs a dehydrating poison?
We know we can poison them, but they just go in the walls and die and it smells horrible. Looking for a product that dehydrates and dries up the dead rat without the smell.
    A
There are no products on the market like what you speak of.  It has been a myth for years that a product like this exists, but it does not.  Anticoagulants prevent the rodents blood from clotting and the rodent will die from internal bleeding.  Contradictory to popular belief, there is no poison that will make a rodent go outside to die.  If it does die in a wall it will smell for a short amount of time.  There is no poison that will make the rodent not smell.  If there was then no professional company would every use anything else around homeowners.  There are other ways to kill and/or capture mice such as glue boards and snap traps.

    Q
If a dog eats or picks up a poisoned rat will the poison transfer?
I have a rat problem under my shed, but I have dogs. I'm concerned that one of them will find a poisoned rat and consume some part of it. If something like that happens will my dog get poisoned?
    A
The risk of secondary poisoning with Final Pellets are very minimal. A rodent only consumes a very small amount of bait at a time and passes it very quickly only keeping a smaller amount in their liver until they succumb to the effects of the bait. A dog would have to actually eat 20-30 rodents that have consumed the bait for it to have an effect. In most cases well fed domesticated animals will not actually eat a mouse or a rat that they come across. Instead they will play with it, chew it and then leave it behind.

    Q
    Mice in Attic
I have a garden variety "mice in the attic" problem. I am looking for some poison blocks to put up there that will, over time, greatly reduce or eliminate the mice. I do not have any pets or very young children and the attic is not accessible to people or other animals. I have never seen any mice in the house. Looking for the product that will destroy the mice with the least mess left behind. I really have no "being humane" concerns. Can you suggest the right product?
    A
If you are looking for a bait to use in your attic, Final Place Packs are easy to use. These are pellets in a bag that you just need to toss around in your attic - the rodents gnaw through the bag to get to the bait. If you prefer blocks instead of place packs, consider Fastrac used in Protecta Mouse Bait Stations.

    Q
Some kind of rodent chewing pex water pipes in ceiling. 2 leaks & much damage already!
Have put bait, mouse & rat traps, glue traps in the ceiling & t/o the house- no luck trapping it yet. Given the size of the gnawing on the pipes, seems bigger than a mouse. Thinking of buying Final Blox & mouse & rat stations. Any other suggestions?
    A
First, we would really like for you to try and find out what this pest is. Second, you want to try and find out where they are getting in and seal those areas up. This pest could be a squirrel or rats or mice possibly. There are different ways of treating different rodents. If you are dealing with squirrels please see our Squirrel Control Page. If you find that you are dealing with rats or mice, please see our Rodent Control Page. For rats/mice you can place Final Place packs in the attic. You can use Glueboards or snap traps indoors along walls and in cabinets.

    Q
Will Final Rodenticide Pellet Place Packs kill possums? If not, what will?
    A
Final Rodenticide Pellet Place Packs may very well kill opossums but they are not labeled for this type of use. In fact there are no baits on the market that are made for opossums. In most cases you will have to trap the opossum using a cage trap. Local ordinances in your community will dictate how to dispose of the trapped animal. You can learn more about opossum control by reading our article Opossum Control.

    Q
Do Final Rodenticide Pellet Place packs work the same as Decon?
I used the blue Decon pellets for years but can no longer find them. Rodents died and dried out without any smell at all. Does your product work the same? When I used the blue Decon pellets rodents dried out and did not smell.
    A

There is no guarantee with Final Rodenticide Pellet Place Packs that the rodents will not smell after they die. This product is an anticoagulant, which means that the rodents will bleed internally and die elsewhere. We do not currently carry any products that will prevent odor, however, we do carry various Odor Eliminator products to eliminate odors.

    Q
Will the mice and or rats hide and die or will they die out in the open when using Final rodenticide?
I have a dog and a cat I don't want my pets to be able to come in contact with the dead rodents. I'm afraid they might chew on them and become sick or die.
    A

Rats and mice can succumb anywhere after ingesting rodenticides, including Final. Sometimes they hide and sometimes they come out in the open. The chance of secondary poisoning with another mammal when they are only chewing on the carcass is very minimal.

    Q
Can you put Final Rodenticide Pellet Place Packs in your food pantry or do you have to keep it away from your food?
    A

Final Rodenticide Pellet Place Packs are not recommended to be used inside as you cannot control where rodents are going to die.  They are recommended to be used outside in tamper resistant bait stations.

For rodents inside it is best to use snap traps and glueboards so you can control where they are going to die and limit access to food sources.  You should also seal up all cracks and crevices outside that are allowing them access to inside.  You may want to look over our Mouse and Rat control guides for more information on treating and preventing these pests.

I accidentally opened the Final Rodenticide Pellet Place Pack sachets. Is that a problem?
    A

It is not necessary to open the Final Rodenticide Pellet Place Packs. The rodents will chew right through the bags and consume the bait.  If you did open them, it would not hurt anything so long as they are otherwise used as directed on the product label.

    Q
How many mice/rats will be killed from one packet of Final Rodenticide Pellet Place Packs?
    A

The amount of rodents that will consume from one pack will vary. To increase effectiveness, remove as much alternative food as possible so that rodents will seek the bait first. For rats, apply 3 to 16 ounces of bait at intervals of approximately 15 to 30 feet per placement. For mice, apply 1/4 to 1/2 oz. (1 - 2 level tablespoons) of bait per placement at 8 to 12 foot intervals. Maintain an uninterrupted supply of fresh bait for at least 10 to 15 days or until signs of rodent activity cease. Recommended for use with Protecta brand Bait Stations or other secure, tamper-resistant bait station. Please take a few moments to review our article on How to Get Rid of Mice or How to Get Rid of Rats for a successful eradication program. It is important to use exclusion and sanitation measures also.
