Will the FMC Pyrethrin Fogger kill fruit flies?

  • Asked by Charlotte from Whiting, Nj
    03/06/2018
    Q
Will the FMC Pyrethrin Fogger stop fleas from multiplying?
    A

The FMC Pyrethrin Fogger will kill any adult fleas that are out in the open at the time of application.  It will not stop fleas from reproducing.  To keep fleas from reproducing, you would need to use an insect growth regulator such as Precor.  Please keep in mind that foggers generally are not recommended for flea control, as they will only kill any fleas that are out in the open at the time of application.  Foggers will not kill any fleas that are hiding in cracks and crevices or that are not in the immediate area at the time the product is applied.  Please take a moment to review our Flea Control Guide for information on implementing a complete flea eradication program.

Will FMC Pyrethrin Fogger kill a gnat/fruit fly infestation?
Basement flooded over a month ago and got our rugs and clothes wet, gnats began to develop. Now they're everywhere. Bought 8 cans, setting these off tomorrow and hopefully it works.

  • Asked by Dave from Indianapolis, In
    11/19/2016
    Q
How often should the FMC Pyrethrin Fogger be used?
Specifically in an attic and a crawl space.
    A

The FMC Pyrethrin Fogger is only a contact kill that kills insects exposed at the time of treatment, so how often it is used will depend on the target pest and pest pressure for your specific needs. If you would like to tell us more about your specific needs, then we would be happy to offer more specific advice.

  • Asked by Gregg from Norman, Oklahoma
    10/11/2016
    Q
Would it be safe to use the FMC Pyrethrin Fogger up a chimney?
I have wasps that come down through it.
    A

We would not reccomend using the FMC Pyrethrin Fogger in a chimney application. Unfortunately, we do not have a recommendation for that type of application. You would not want to put chemicals in a chimney that at some point you would be lighting a fire into. However, with that said possibly lighting a fire would get them out of the area.

  • Asked by Shelley from Sonora
    02/08/2016
    Q
Is the FMC Pyrethrin Fogger effective on cluster flies?
I have cluster flies in the voids in my walls and need to know if this fogger would kill over-wintering flies.
    A

Foggers such as the FMC Pyrethrin Fogger will only kill insects exposed to the product at the time that you use it. While the active ingredient would certainly kill flies and other insects that are contacted, you likely would not see a significant reduction in the flies. To combat overwintering pests such as cluster flies, you should look for ways to exclude these pests and treat with insecticides like those in our Overwintering Pest Kit in the late Summer and Fall to keep pests out. Fly light traps can be very effective in catching cluster flies that do make it indoors. Please review our article How to Get Rid of Cluster Flies for more tips and information.

  • Asked by Randall from Morgan City, Louisiana
    12/07/2015
    Q
Will FMC Pyrethrin Fogger kill scabies?
    A

FMC Pyrethrin Fogger is not labeled to kill scabies. Using a fogger would not be an appropriate treatment for this pest. You should consult a medical professional for topical treatment. You can clean the environment by vacuuming and washing and drying clothing and linens. You could use a contact kill product such as Steri-Fab to treat furniture and flooring, although this is generally not necessary.

  • Asked by Joanne from Zebulon Nc

    Q
Will CB PCO Total Release Fogger with Pyrethrins work for black pepper mites?
    A
CB PCO Total Release Fogger with Pyrethrins is not specifically labeled for black pepper mites. We think the very first thing you should do is get the mites properly identified. Failure to get a proper identification can lead to treatment failure. Many people read on the internet certain descriptions and just assume that they have the same exact problem as the person that wrote the description, but they could very possibly be wrong. You should contact your local cooperative extension office and speak to the entomologist on staff. The entomologist will explain how to properly obtain a sample and submit it for identification. You can also contact your local natural history museum for an identification if you don't have luck with the extension office. Once you get a proper identification you will be able to know what type of source you are looking for (foul, bird or rodent mites) and you can start proper treatments.
