    Q
Can CB PCO Fogger with Pyrethrins be used for home mite invasions?
We've had a home invasion of mites for about 2 months now. Nothing seems to completely get rid of these bugs. We're miserable! We are near goats, and chickens regularly, with on of the goats recently having mange, which has somehow transfered to our home....we suspect. Every night we are swarmed with bugs as we sleep. We have used permethrin cream which works on our body but we keep getting reinfested because they are in our home. Please, any suggestions?
    A
It is important to be absolutely sure you are actually dealing with bird mites. Have the suspected bird mite identified by a reputable source, such as your local cooperative extension office or a reputable pest control operator. Treatments will vary for different pests. Treatment for say bedbugs is much different than the treatment for bird mites.  Removal of the infested nest or bird and a thorough cleanup is necessary. For treatment in the home, we recommend you frequently vacuum all carpet and upholstery and dispose of the bag or vacuum contents in a sealed bag outdoors. Spray Sterifab on couches, chairs and other upholstered furniture where you may spend time resting. Use MotherEarth Dust in all cracks and crevices around the perimeter of the room. Apply a thin coat of MotherEarth dust to rugs and carpets. Rake (not sweep) nap back and forth, causing dust to enter rug or carpet. Let product sit overnight. Repeat application as necessary and vacuum every 3 - 4 days for effective control. MotherEarth dust does not have a fast knockdown, it can take several days for insects to die after they contact the dust. Onslaught can be used for a faster knockdown. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs.We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites. Finding and removing the source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good.

    Q
Is CB PCO Fogger safe for use around pets?
I have three dogs and want to make sure it is safe to use in the kitchen around them. And if it doesn't kill hidden pests, what will?
    A
Please take a few minutes to read the CB Pco Fogger product label. All pets and people must leave the home while the fogger is being used and they must remain out of the home for about 2 hours. The home should then be vented by opening the windows and doors for about 30 minutes. After this time period it will be safe for people and pets to return to the home. Unfortunately you did mention what pest(s) you are trying to eliminate which makes it very difficult to recommend a product for your needs. You can look at our Pest Control Kits to see what products we recommend for any given pest. We have put together these kits so that our customers will understand what products they will require for the pest they are trying to eliminate.

    Q
Does CB PCO Fogger kill bed bugs? I need a fogger.
    A
While the CB PCO Fogger will kill exposed bedbugs it is not recommended for that use. When foggers are released they simply spray up into the air and then settle down onto surfaces, they do not penetrate into cracks and crevices where bedbugs actually hide. Using a fogger for bedbugs could also irritate the bedbugs and force them deeper into cracks and crevices or into wall voids making effective treatments much more difficult or impossible. There are no foggers on the market that are recommended for bedbugs for these reasons. There are no short cuts for treating bedbugs. You must use multiple products and follow the appropriate guidelines for treating individual items such as clothes, shoes, electronics, etc. We recommend using a bedbug control kit which will come with all of the products you need to do an effective bedbug treatment.

    Q
Is CB PCO Fogger with Pyrethrins effective against Mosquitoes?
I think we have some mosquitoes in the room and they come out at night while were asleep. I also think they are laying eggs. Will it kill the eggs also?
    A
CB PCO Fogger with Pyrethrins is labeled for mosquitoes and would most likely do a good job for you if you are indeed dealing with mosquitoes. Mosquitoes would not be able to reproduce in your home because the larval stage of the mosquito is aquatic and would need stagnant water to be able to survive. We strongly recommend that you get a sample of the insect you suspect of biting you and contact your local cooperative extension office and seek a proper identification. If you find you are not able to obtain a sample you should contact a reputable pest control company and have them come do a free inspection and identification.  There are other possibilities such as bedbugs that would seem more plausible. We would encourage you not to use a fogger until you are sure what insect you are dealing with because using a fogger in a home with bedbugs could complicate the treatment process.

    Q
Will CB PCO Fogger get rid of fruit flies?
    A
CB PCO Fogger will help knockdown the adult flies but you will still need to find the source of the infestation to get rid of them for good. Please take a few moments to read our Fruit Fly article to learn more about these pests and how to control them. We do carry Natural Catch Plus Fruit Fly Traps that will attract and trap adult fruit flies flying around the room.

    Q
Will the CB PCO Fogger kill fleas?
I'm having a very bad flea infestation at the moment. I tried using Advantage and another flea killer product on my cat and the fleas still have not disappeared. I'm looking for something more permanent and lethal to make sure the fleas don't ever come again. I do believe that once the fleas are killed they won't ever come again because the general area we live in is really not flea heavy, I just believe I went to someone else's place who had fleas in the house, and I just happened to pick one of them up from sitting on there couch or their dog that hasn't been treated by flea medicine. Will the CB PCO Fogger kill these fleas once and for all?
    A

Foggers work very well to get rid of the adult fleas that are exposed at the time of the treatment but will not effect the adult fleas that are hidden away at the time of the treatment or the flea eggs or larvae. Most infestations require two or even three treatments of a product that contains a long lasting residual and an insect growth regulator such as Ultracide. Treatments should be applied at two week intervals. Vacuuming immediately before the application and daily vacuuming will be vital to successful flea control. Be sure to dispose of the vacuum contents in a sealed bag away from your home.

Can you put a fogger in the vent of your home?
    A
No, the fogger cannot be placed in the vent. Foggers are very specifically labeled and the labels must be followed exactly to insure your safety. Please take a few moments to read over the CB PCO Fogger with Pyrethrins product label so you can better understand how to use the product.

    Q
Will CB PCO Fogger with Pyrethrin kill german roaches? They seem to be somewhere in a kitchen cabinet.
I have sprayed Cynoff WP insect killer around the baseboards and the outside of the house, but they seem to be concentrated by the kitchen sink.
    A
CB PCO Fogger will kill roaches, but you must direct the fogger in the kitchen cabinet. Roaches are commonly found around kitchen sinks because they need moisture. You can help eliminate this need by always placing dishes in the dishwasher instead of leaving them in the sink, wipe the sink out and counter tops at night so no water is left anywhere in the sink or around it. Remove everything from inside cabinets and drawers. Direct the CB PCO Fogger inside these areas so the fog gets inside all cracks and crevices.  Roaches commonly hide inside walls and the fogger will not make it back in these areas, so the fogger will kill what roaches are out in the open when you use it, but not what is in hiding.  After you fog, we would recommend using Advion Roach Gel to place in your cabinets and drawers.  It works great and you will usually start seeing substantial results within 2 weeks as long as you keep all food and water cleaned up and at a minimum.

    Q
I've got yellow jackets nesting in my crawlspace. Should I block the vents and fog?
    A
You could try that, but if the yellow jackets are nesting in a block void or other area, the fog would not kill all of the yellow jackets in the crawl space.  The most effective way to kill yellow jackets is to use Tempo 1% dust and a hand duster.  Even if they are just flying in and out of the screen or through a hole, if you dust the opening where they are going in and out sometimes that should be enough to kill them.

    Q
Will the PCO fogger kill gnats and their eggs?
    A
The CB PCO Fogger with Pyrethrins will kill the exposed gnats, but it will most likely have no effect on their eggs. The eggs are usually protected because of their hard shell and because they are placed into voids, cracks, crevices and other protected areas where the fogger is unlikely to penetrate. If you suspect that the gnats are breeding and laying eggs indoors, you should try to find the area that they are depositing their eggs. Depending on the type of gnat you are dealing with, they could be developing in drains, soil in potted plants, organic buildup in the bottom of trash cans, debris under appliances, etc. In most cases, a thorough cleaning of the infested area is needed.

    Q
Will CB PCO Fogger with Pyrethrins kill spiders?
    If not, what will??
    A
Yes CB PCO Fogger with Pyrethrins will kill spiders, but only the spiders that are exposed at the time the fogger is released. We recommend using Cyper WP for spider control. Cypermethrin, the active ingredient in Cyper WP, is known to be one of the most effective active ingredients for spiders and other hard to kill insects. Spray directly into cracks and crevices, under appliances, around door frames and window frames and in places where utilities (cables, pipes, wires) enter into the structure. We have recently added a spider control kit to our website that includes Cyper WP, Cobweb Eliminator and glue boards. Using Cobweb eliminator will help discourage spiders from forming webs on the surfaces that have been sprayed and the glue boards will help trap wandering spiders and help monitor problem areas.

    Q
How can I ensure my cats do not receive lethal exposure from CB PCO Fogger?
Cats are exceedingly sensitive to pyrethrins and pyrethroids, and I note the directions a) don't mention how long I should keep them, or myself, out of the area, and b) make reference to a need to clean surfaces. This may cause problems since cats have a tendency to ingest virtually anything in their environment when it gets on their fur. I'd rather live with bugs than risk harming my cats, so this is a critically important issue for me.
    A
You must be very careful with this product.  You and all pets need to vacate the house for 3 hours after setting off the CB PCO Fogger.  Once you return you should air the house out and wipe down all floors and food handling surfaces before allowing cats to re-enter the home.  If your cats are very sensitive, then we would probably recommend not using the CB PCO Fogger.

    Q
Is CB PCO Fogger with Pyrethrin effective against carpet beetles?
Attegunus Unicolor (and its larva) hides in carpet and crevices. Pyrethrins and pyrethroids are effective, but will this fogger do the job or will other methods be needed?
    A
CB PCO fogger would not be effective against carpet beetles.  This is because this product will not penetrate into cracks and crevices where carpet beetle larvae hide, and it does not leave a residual to kill insects later when they come out of hiding.  This product will only kill what is out in the open when it goes off.  We recommend reading our articles on carpet beetle control.

    Q
Can I use CB PCO Fogger to eliminate powderpost beetles in our kitchen cabinets?
    A
No, CB PCO Fogger or other bug bombs will not penetrate into cabinets and kill powder post beetles.  Bug Bombs only go straight up into the air and fall down through the air onto surfaces.  They will only kill what insects are out in the open when the bomb goes off.  Powderpost beetle larvae are not out in the open like other insects, they are deep inside the wood of the cabinet.  Unfortunately, the only method of eradicating powder post beetles is either fumigation which can only be performed by a professional company, or you can apply a wood treatement product we carry called Bora-Care, but it requires sanding off the finish of the cabinet.

    Q
Will CB PCO Fogger with Pyrethrins be carried back on ants to kill the queen?
    A

No, CB PCO Fogger with Pyrethrins does not have a transfer effect. Only the ants that come in direct contact with the application while it is wet will be killed. We do carry two sprays that do have a transfer effect, Phantom for indoor use and Termidor SC for outdoor use and both would be carried back on the worker ants' bodies to the nest. We also carry a full line of ant baits that would be carried back to kill queen ants.

    Q
I am looking for something that will kill stink bugs. Will the CB PCO Fogger with Pyrethrin work?
    A
The CB PCO Fogger would not be your best choice for stinkbugs.  CB PCO Fogger is only a contact kill, meaning it will only kill a bug that is out in the open when it is set off.  Stinkbugs are nesting in the wall and the fogger would not make it into the wall where they hide.  You should purchase our Overwintering Kit or the Stink Bug Control Kit which are both specifically for overwintering pests like the stinkbug.  It has products that you place in the wall where they are hiding, and also products that leave a residual to kill the adults that are coming out of the wall into your home.
