Fusilade II works fast, moving quickly into the shoots, roots, rhizomes, stolons and growing points of the treated plants.
Weed growth is soon arrested, and within just one week there will be loss of vigor, yellow and/or reddening, and eventual death of the treated grass weeds.
Usage chart for spot treatments:
1 gallon water + .75 oz. Fusilade + .5 oz surfactant
10 gallons water + 6.5 oz. Fusilade + 3 oz surfactant
25 gallons water + 16 oz. Fusilade + .5 pint surfactant
50 gallons water + 32 oz. Fusilade + 1 pint surfactant
Expensive but Works!

I use Fusilade II to kill the bermuda and crab grass growing in a large bed in which I'm trying to get Periwinkle (vinca minor) to take over as the predominant ground cover. I mixed the Fusilade with a spreader/sticker/penetrant called Cadence made by KALO, Inc. I oversprayed the Periwinkle and grass with the mix and (you have to be patient) after about 5 to 7 days the grass was dead and gone and the Periwinkle was untouched.

Works great!!!
By Lisa on 08/31/2015
I mixed the Fusilade w/surfactant per the label instructions and applied it to my lawn 8 days ago with a garden sprayer. Already the Bermuda grass has yellowed and looks dead. I will reapply in 20 more days just to make sure and then reseed in 14 days. The fescue seems to have survived quite well.

Fusilade II for Torpedo grass

A great Herbicide for grasses
By Harold on 06/06/2011
After early research on Fusilade in the 80s with UCCE in CA for crop use, I (aswell as my friends) now find it useful in my flower garden for selective control of annoying annual and perennial grass in Seattle's wonderful gardening climate. But it doesn't control annual bluegrass or fescues. It has some odor so wear plastic gloves. It takes more than a week to get control, but rest after that week. Bermuda control
By Richard on 06/17/2011
Fusilade II can only be used to remove bermuda grass from Tall Fescue and Zoysia Grass when used at reduced rates but it is not labeled for use on St Augustine grass so we cannot recommend it for this use. We are not aware of a product that is labeled to remove Bermuda grass from St Augustine.
Unfortunately Bermuda grass is so closely related to St. Augustine grass that there is nothing that will remove Bermuda from St. Augustine and not hurt the Bermuda as well. In your situation it is recommended to spot treat the Bermuda with GlyPhoSel Pro and kill it directly, and then replant St. Augustine in those areas.
Updated Jan 2025:Fusilade is not labeled to be used on St Augustine for bermuda grass control when tank mixed with Recognition Herbicide. Following these instructions Recognition Herbicide 2(ee) Supplemental Label-St. Augustine
Some studies in southern Florida have shown control of Bermuda in Floratam without causing harm to the Floratam. Can this be confirmed?
Yes, Fusilade II Herbicide & Recognition Herbicide can be mixed together to remove Bermuda from St. Augustine following the supplemental label instructions

Can I spray Fusilade II Herbicide directly on top of cherries etc to kill grasses around the rootstocks...rootstocks that have been budded and are now coming out
Fusilade II Herbicide should not be applied to areas where edibles are or will be planted.
I have large purple wind creeper beds. I want to kill the grassy growth and broadleaf weeds in them.
Fusilade II Herbicide is safe for established Blue Star Creeper when applied to young grassy weeds listed that are actively growing as directed. We recommend spot treating with a non-selective for the broadleaf weeds and use a pre-emergent herbicide in the spring and fall prior to weed germination.
Fusilade II is labeled for use around groundcover to control grassy weeds only. When used as directed it should not harm them. Please read the Fusilade II product label for complete usage instructions.

Fusilade II Herbicide is labeled to be used on St. Augustine grass to control bermuda grass only when tank mixed with Recognition Herbicide.
Fusilade II Herbicide is not labeled to be used around edible vegetation. Fertilome Over The Top II Grass Killer is a great option for grass in veggie gardens. Please make sure to check the product label to make sure it is safe to use around your specific crops.
Fusilade II Herbicide is not labeled to control sandspur. There are pre-emergents labeled for sandspur to prevent the weeds from germinating however there are only a few post emergents to kill sandspur when it is actively growing.

Fusilade II Herbicide is known to injure or kill St. Augustine turfgrasses since it is not labeled as a tolerant turfgrass but it would not be used to remove St Augustine in Zoysia.
Your only real option for this is to use a non selective herbicide and reseed/sod the zoysia.
Fusilade II Herbicide is not labeled to be used on St Augustine grass to control torpedograss.
I'm trying to kill Bermuda grass that's in my Zoysia.
You will use 0.4 - 0.6 per 1,000 sq. ft. of Fusillade II Herbicide in at least a gallon of water. It is important to use the correct amount of product versus the amount of water. A gallon will generally treat 1000 square feet. You can also mix in the suggested rates, from the label, to determine how much surfactant and dye to use. Please read each product label for full application instructions.

Unfortunately, Fusilade II Herbicide is not labeled to treat succulent plants. Since it has not been tested on succulents we are not sure if the product would harm them.
We would recommend contacting the manufacturer Syngenta directly or doing a small test application to determine if any injury would occur. Syngenta can be reached at 866-796-4368
Fusilade II Herbicide is not labeled for Japanese Stiltgrass.
The only selective product we carry labeled for Japanese stiltgrass is Acclaim Extra Selective Herbicide. Please review the product label to confirm that your turfgrass is listed as tolerant and if treating around ornamentals, they are listed as tolerant to an application. If your ornamentals are NOT listed as tolerant, avoid applications over the top and do direct spot spray applications. Was this answer helpful to you? YesNo
