    Q
Can you use Fusilade II Herbicidet on St. Augustine grass to eliminate Bermuda grass?
    A

Fusilade II can only be used to remove bermuda grass from Tall Fescue and Zoysia Grass when used at reduced rates but it is not labeled for use on St Augustine grass so we cannot recommend it for this use. We are not aware of a product that is labeled to remove Bermuda grass from St Augustine.
Unfortunately Bermuda grass is so closely related to St. Augustine grass that there is nothing that will remove Bermuda from St. Augustine and not hurt the Bermuda as well.  In your situation it is recommended to spot treat the Bermuda with GlyPhoSel Pro and kill it directly, and then replant St. Augustine in those areas.
Updated Jan 2025:Fusilade is not labeled to be used on St Augustine for bermuda grass control when tank mixed with Recognition Herbicide.  Following these instructions Recognition Herbicide 2(ee) Supplemental Label-St. Augustine

    Q
Can I use Fusilade II Herbicide on my purple wind creeper without damaging it?
I have large purple wind creeper beds. I want to kill the grassy growth and broadleaf weeds in them.
    A

Fusilade II Herbicide is safe for established Blue Star Creeper when applied to young grassy weeds listed that are actively growing as directed. We recommend spot treating with a non-selective for the broadleaf weeds and use a pre-emergent herbicide in the spring and fall prior to weed germination.

    Q
Will this control Bermuda grass in my Buffalograss?
The lawn seeded with Buffalograss and Bermuda has started popping up and spreading fast. I want it gone without having to start over on the Buffalograss.
    A
Fusilade II Herbicide would harm both the buffalo and Bermuda grasses. Unfortunately, there aren't going to be any selective herbicides on the market that we are aware of that would be able to selectively remove Bermuda from a buffalograss lawn. They are both warm-season grasses, and buffalo is typically considered to have the same tolerance level to chemicals or more sensitive to certain chemicals than Bermuda is, and would likely be damaged by anything strong enough to take out the Bermuda. You would need to very carefully spot-spray the Bermuda, or hand-removal/dig it out to reduce the spread.

    Q
Will the 5oz/A blanket spray application rate kill quack grass in tall fescue? If so, what is max yearly rate?
    A
Fusilade II Herbicide will kill Quackgrass in Fescue. Per the label:

Apply 0.07-0.14 oz/1000 sq. ft. (3-6 oz./A) along with 0.25% v/v (1/2 pt./25 gals.) of a nonionic surfactant. Application should be made every 28 days when the grass weeds are actively growing. The higher rates may result in temporary discolorization of the desirable turf with recovery in 10-14 days. Do not apply to desirable turf which is under stress. For best results, make applications in spring and fall and avoid treatments during July and August.
Complete control of undesirable grass may take 1-2 growing seasons.

We also recommend calling your local county extension office as they usually know the optimum times for spraying lawns in your area

    Q
Weeds are among our Blue Daze, Pentas, Vinca, Foxtail Fern & Hibiscus. Which Fusilade (II vs. DX) is right?
These are garden beds; there are no edibles. Will either Fusilade product harm these shrubs -- especially the Blue Daze? Is one of the 2 products better for this situation than the other?
    A
The Fusilade II is for use in ornamental and flower bed areas primarily, whereas the Fusilade DX is labeled and formulated in a way that is for use on many edible crops that the Fusilade II does not cover on its label.

    Q
    Spraying on plant
Can you spray fusilade on agapanthas to kill couch grass growing in through plant without harming plant
    A
Unfortunately it does not appear that Fusilade II Herbicide is labeled for this type of weed, nor do we carry any herbicide that is. In your situation it is recommended to spot treat the couch grass with a Round Up type product.  As long as you do not spray the foliage of the garden plants directly, they will not be harmed.

  • Asked by James from Cumming, Ga

    Q
I have an infestation of centipede grass in my Meyers zoysia.
Will Fusillade II get rid of the centipede and be safe to use on the Meyers Zoysia. If so, when should it be applied and at what rate?
    A

We apologize but we are not aware of any herbicides that will selectively remove centipede grass from zoysia without also harming the other turf species. You would have to do a spot treatment with roundup and then fill in the dead and bare spots with more seed or sod to try and keep it from coming back.

    Q
Is Fusilade II Herbicide labeled to be used to treat for sandspur? If so, what is the application rate?
    A

Fusilade II Herbicide is not labeled to control sandspur. There are pre-emergents labeled for sandspur to prevent the weeds from germinating however there are only a few post emergents to kill sandspur when it is actively growing.

    Q
Will Fusilade II Herbicide kill St. Augustine in my Empire Zoysia Lawn?
    A

Fusilade II Herbicide is known to injure or kill St. Augustine turfgrasses since it is not labeled as a tolerant turfgrass but it would not be used to remove St Augustine in Zoysia.

Your only real option for this is to use a non selective herbicide and reseed/sod the zoysia.
