    Is mixing of Fusilade II with Speedzone allowed for a single backpack spraying?
    A

    Fusilade II Herbicide can only be tank mixed with other herbicides that would also require a surfactant.  Speedzone does not mention needing one and most state that adding one can reduce selectivity on turfgrass. Be sure that you are following the most restrictive product labeling.

    Is Fusilade II Herbicide safe to use around peonies, columbine, Lilies and other perineal ornamental plants and.flowers?
    We have several perineal flower beds that we need to control the grass in. But I am afraid to kill any of the flowers. I can try on a columbine and some others but peonies are to expensive to practice on.

    Fusilade II Herbicide can be used on columbine and lilac as well as other ornamentals, unfortunately peonies were not on the label. Please review the product label for a full list.

    Will Fusilade II Herbicide kill Bermuda in a St Augustine and Centipede Lawn?
    A

    Fusilade II Herbicide can be used to treat bermudagrass in zoysia, tall fescue and fine fescue lawns only. 

    Unfortunately there is not a selective herbicide available that would kill the Bermuda without also harming the St. Augustine & Centipede since they are so closely related. It is recommended to spot treat the areas of bermudagrass with a non selective like Roundup QuickPro and then after 2 weeks resod or reseed the areas with St. Augustine or Centipede. 

    Updated Jan 2025:  Fusilade is not labeled to be used on St Augustine for bermuda grass control when tank mixed with Recognition Herbicide.  Following these instructions Recognition Herbicide 2(ee) Supplemental Label-St. Augustine

    Will Fusilade II Herbicide kill torpedograss?
    A

    Fusilade II Herbicide can be used to control torpedograss though it may take up to 3 applications to gain control. Apply using a hand pump sprayer along with a Non Ionic Surfactant for best results.

    Wil Fusilade II Herbicide kill centipede grass in my Kentucky Bluegrass lawn?

    Fusilade II Herbicide is not labeled to be used in lawns unless targeting bermudagrass from fescue and zoysiagrass turfgrass. This product is primarly for treating grassy weeds in landscape beds, ornamentals, flowers and shrubs. 

     Unfortuanately, there is not anything specifically labeled to eradicate centipedegrass in cool seaons lawns however using a product like Triclopyr that is labeled safe for Kentucky Bluegrass and advised not to use on warm season turfgrass such as Centipede could help eradicate it.

    Can Fusilade II Herbicide be used around Oriental Arborvitae & Ponderosa Pine?

    Fusilade II Herbicide is labeled to be applied around Ponderosa Pines and Oriental Arborvitae which is listed as Thuga, Berkmans (thuja orientalis) on the product label.

    Per the product label, apply Fusilade II at 16-24 fl oz/A (0.4 – 0.6 fl oz/1,000 sq ft) along with a non ionic surfactant in sufficient amount of water for thorough coverage.

    Can Fusilade II Herbicide be used to kill common bermudagrass in my Zoysia Sun and Shade mix turfgrass without injuring my lawn?
    A

    While Fusilade II Herbicide is labeled for removing Bermudagrass only in Tall Fescue and Zoysia lawns, it could be damaging to your sun and shade mix as it contains bluegrass, ryegrass, and fescue.

    Acclaim Extra can be used to suppress bermudagrass and should be applied when the bermudagrass is coming out of dormancy, green and beginning to grow. Repeat applications at 28 to 35 days for multiple applications will be needed for suppression of bermudagrass.

    What can be used to kill wiregrass growing in my Tifway 419 Bermuda without injuring the turfgrass?
    A

    Since wiregrass is also a species of Bermudagrass, there is not a product available that would selectively remove it and not harm you Bermudagrass lawn.  In this case it would be best to very carefully spot treat the wiregrass with a non-selective herbicide like RoundUp QuikPro, and reseed the desirable Bermuda in those areas as soon as 14 days after an application.

    Can dawn dish soap be used as a surfactant with Fusilade II Herbicide? Is this an effective surfactant?

    No, using Dawn Dish Soap in place of a Non Ionic Surfactant with Fusilade II Herbicide would not be recommended as this is off label usage and not advised per the manufacturer or DoMyOwn.com. The use of dish soap will also foam up in the tank sprayer and cause difficuties to apply the herbicide effectively.

    How to remove the smell from Fusilade II Herbicide in our washing machine?
    our "unopened" Fusilade II somehow leaked a bit (1 tablespoon?) from the unopened container into some clothing. We washed it to remove the stink and now the entire washing machine smells. We did a separate load with baking soda and vinegar and it still reeks. We are scared we may need to get an entire new washing machine. Any suggestions how to remove this horrific smell from our washing machine??

    How long after applying Fusilade II can I plant annual ryegrass?

    It is recommended to wait 14 days following an application of Fusilade II Herbicide to reseed/seed desirable grasses on established turf. For bare ground areas which have been treated, wait 30 days to reseed/seed.

    Fusilade is not labeled to treat Spanish Needle. Most folks use Glyphosate based products to target this hard to kill weed. The article here explains eradication in detail.

    Can you mix Fusilade II Herbicide with 2,4-D to kill broadleaf weeds at the same time?

    Fusilade II Herbicide can be tank mixed with other herbicides on certain turfgrasses listed on the label. Follow the Tank Mixing instructions on the product label and we suggest doing small compatibility test first in a glass jar to ensure the products will mix together.

    Can Fusilade II Herbicide suppress or control zoysia in a cool season lawn?
    A

    Fusilade II Herbicide will not suppress or control zoysiagrass. Hi Yield Triclopyr Ester, or the ingredient Triclopyr in general, is a commonly used herbicide to kill bermuda and zoysia in a cool season lawn such as fescue.

    Ideally, zoysia is best controlled when it's in the transition state from dormant to green up, or green to dormant. Summer is when zoysia thrives so you will have a harder time controlling it during these months.

    Will Fusilade II Herbicide kill bermudagrass that has spread from our lawn into the flower beds?

    Fusilade II when used with a Non Ionic Surfactant kills grassy weeds such as bermudagrass in landscape beds, flower beds, and around ornamentals. This would also kill the bermudagrass lawn so precautions should be taken to avoid any overspray or drift to nearby turf.

    Bermudagrass is extremely difficult to eliminate and will require repeat applications and could take multiple seasons to control.

    Will Fusilade II Herbicide harm or be toxic to the fruit on a nectarine tree if applied under the fruit tree?
    I sprayed fusillade onto the soil of my nectarine tree to curb the grass but I am afraid to eat the fruit in case it us poisoned by the fusillade. Please help.

    Fusilade II Herbicide is not labeled to be used around edible vegetation. If you have already treated inside the drip line of the tree, we would recommend to skip eating the fruit for at least one growing season.

    For actively growing weeds, Avenger Weed Killer Concentrate is OMRI listed and great for organic gardening. This is a non-selective herbicide, made from the rind of oranges to control most annual grasses, weeds and broadleaves. It contains the active ingredient, D-limonene (citrus oil), which naturally takes away the waxy plant cuticle so the plant ends up being dehydrated and then dies.

    Please refer to the manufacturer's product label for complete application instructions, and use only as directed.
