    Q
Do I need to use a surfactant if I use Fusilade?
I live in Utah, and have lots of grass growing in and amongst many expensive plants, ground covers, etc. Must I use a surfactant, or can I just mix Fusilade with water and spray, also, what amount of Fusilade should I use per gallon?
    A
Fusilade Herbicide can be mixed with a surfactant such as Non-Ionic Surfactant for Herbicides to help the product work more effectively and it is recommended by the manufacturer.

Apply 0.07-0.14 oz/1000 sq. ft. (3-6 oz./A) along with 0.25% v/v (1/2 pt./25 gals.) of a nonionic surfactant. Application should be made every 28 days when the grass weeds are actively growing. The higher rates may result in temporary discoloration of the desirable turf with recovery in 10-14 days. Do not apply to desirable turf which is under stress. For best results, make applications in spring and fall and avoid treatments during July and August.
Complete control of undesirable grass may take 1-2 growing seasons.

Keep in mind for herbicides the amount of water is not important. What is important is getting the correct amount of product, over the correct amount of area. Mark off 1000 sq/ft and fill your sprayer tank with only water. Spray as if you were covering the area with the herbicide. However many gallons it takes you to cover that area is how many gallons to mix the product with. Everyone's walking speed and how heavily they spray is different, which is why whether you use 2 gallons or 8 gallons of water to cover 1000 sq/ft, you are correct.

    Q
What is the best way to kill off Bermuda Grass in a tall fescue lawn without yellowing the tall fescue?
    A

Fusilade II Turf and Ornamental Herbicide is a selective post-emergent herbicide that controls a long list of perennial and annual grass weeds in turf and landscaped areas. It can also be used to remove Bermuda grass from tall Fescue and Zoysia grass when used at reduced rates. Fusilade II can stand up to rain after only 1 hour of application.

Apply 0.07-0.14 oz/1000 sq. ft. (3-6 oz./A) along with 0.25% v/v (1/2 pt./25 gals.) of a nonionic surfactant. Application should be made every 28 days when the grass weeds are actively growing. The higher rates may result in temporary discolorization of the desirable turf with recovery in 10-14 days. Do not apply to desirable turf which is under stress. For best results, make applications in spring and fall and avoid treatments during July and August.
Complete control of undesirable grass may take 1-2 growing seasons.

We also recommend calling your local county extension office as they usually know the optimum times for spraying lawns in your area.

  • Asked by Dennis from Crystal Lake, Il
    05/23/2013
    Q
Will Fusilade get rid of quack grass?
My lawn (No. IL) is Blue Grass, Rye, and Fescue with patches of quack grass. How do I get rid of the quack grass?
    A
The Fusilade is labeled for killing quackgrass along with many other weeds and grasses. However, it does not list all types of grasses you have in your lawn as safe to be used on. The DNA of Quackgrass is very similar to the species of grass in your lawn. Your best option would be to spot spray the quackgrass with either fusilade or a Glyphosate product and reseed with your grass afterwards.

    Q
Is it too late (metro Atlanta July 2) to start using Fusilade ll to control bermudagrass in my meyers zoysia?
    A
Fusilade is a post emergent selective herbicide so you can apply it anytime weeds or grasses are present that you are trying to eliminate. Just make sure to not apply during the hottest times of the day when temperatures get above 90 degrees. Applications in early mornings are best and you will want to use a surfactant with the Fusilade to see faster control in your lawn.

    Q
Is fusilade safe to apply over mondo grass. Also, would it kill moss? If it does not kill moss, what would?
be a good product for moss treatment?
    A
Fusilade II is labeled to be used on mondo grass but would not likely kill moss. Do you know what kind of moss you are dealing with? Moss is usually treated with very specific products depending on what type of moss you are dealing with. You should be able to get it identified by contacting your local cooperative extension office and speaking to the master gardener on staff if needed.

  • Asked by Jack from Mobile, Alabama
    06/28/2015
    Q
Is Fusilade II safe for chicory and clover?
I have planted a chicory and clover patch for deer season on april 26. On June 27 I notice lots of grassy weeds. Of which none I could identify. I mixed the fusillade at .7 oz per gallon and used dawn dishwashing liquid for my surfactant. About how long does it take for the fusillade to start killing weeds. And does it have a residual effect? Thanks
    A
Fusillade II is only safe to be used over pink clover. It is not safe to be used over chickory. Also, Fusillade II does not have a grazing label so animals should not eat any items that the product has been sprayed over.

    Q
I have couch grass in my garden bed. Will Fusilade kill the couch grass without killing my garden plants?
    A

Unfortunately it does not appear that Fusilade II Herbicide is labeled for this type of weed, nor do we carry any herbicde that is.  In your situation it is recommended to spot treat the couch grass with a Round Up type product.  As long as you do not spray the foliage of the garden plants directly, they will not be harmed.

  • Asked by Peggy from Gallatin, Tn
    05/28/2019
    Q
How long after spraying Fusilade II Herbicide should I see results? What is the warmest temperature is it safe to spray?
I used .5 oz Fusilade and 1 tablespoon surfactant in 1 gallon of water.
    A

The time it takes Fusilade II to kill weeds depends on a few different variables such as the specific weed you are targeting, the outside temperature, as well as the ground temperature.  It can take up to 2 weeks to see full results. Any time you are using a post-emergent herbicide, including ones like Fusilade, the weeds or grasses you are targeting must be in an actively growing state and soil temps need to be above 65 degrees and below 85 degrees consistently for you to see maximum results.
