    Q
Can this be sprayed together in the same place as Bifenthrin- for roaches? Do you see my explanation below?
For roaches…Do I need to spray this Gentrol IGR in a separate place away from the Bifenthrin? Or can I spray one over the other? For example, I already sprayed my baseboards with Bifenthrin… can I spray this Gentrald over the same areas (over the baseboards)?
    A
Gentrol Aerosol IGR can be applied separately in the same location as most insecticides, including Bifen IT.

    Q
Can I use Alpine WSG and Gentrol IGR in the exact same places, or will this lead to hazardous fumes?
I've already sprayed Gentrol foam inside my cabinets and under appliances, but I'd like to use Alpine WSG in the same places. Do I need to first clean up the Gentrol? (It's already evaporated, but should I clean where I sprayed it?) I'm concerned mixing the two could cause hazardous fumes.
    A

Gentrol IGR can be used in the same areas as Alpine WSG with no issue following instructions on each product label.

    Q
If I have already spread boric acid power on cracks and around baseboards, can I spray Gentrol Aerosol over it?
    A

It is best for Gentrol Aerosol IGR to be applied any before any dusts so it gets on the surface vs after you apply a dust that can coat the area.  Once the Gentrol application is dry, you can apply dust.

    Q
How often should I use Gentrol Aerosol IGR, Temprid FX and Advion Gel Bait for roaches?
Can I use them together in the same area? I have a light roach infestation.
    A

You can apply Temprid FX every 90 days and Gentrol Aerosol IGR in the same location every 4 months. The Advion Roach gel should be applied in areas that are not sprayed (every couple of weeks, cleaning up previous bait placements). Q
How long is the residual of Gentrol Aerosol IGR? Does this work through contact as the insect walks across the treated area?
    A

The retreatment time intervals for Gentrol IGR Aerosol are based off the target insects being treated. For roaches, Gentrol IGR Aerosol leaves a residual of 4 months, for bed bugs there is a 2 week residual and for fruit flies/drain flies, the residual is 2-4 weeks. You would do follow up treatments at those intervals per the product label

    Q
I have cockroaches coming from my septic tank through bathtub and sinks. How do I get rid of them?
    A
Nibor D Insecticide mixed with a concentrate like  Gentrol IGR Concentrate would be a better option for your needs than the Gentrol Aerosol can. Since your problem is coming from the septic system, you will need to use products that can reach the septic system completely. If you mix together the Nibor D and Gentrol IGR, you can pour it down toilets and drains to have it get carried into your septic system to coat the materials they are breeding and feeding on within the tank. It may take some time to eliminate all of them, but this would be the most efficient way to get chemical to them that would also be safe for your septic system. If you still have some persisting after a few weeks, you can mix up more to pour down the toilets and drains to treat again.

    Q
Will Gentrol Aerosol IGR kill roaches?
    A

IGR’s including Gentrol Aerosol IGR when used alone will not kill roaches or insects in general as they are only growth inhibitors and stop the growth cycle and reproduction phases. A successful roach treatment program should include a residual insecticide, insect growth regulator and roach bait and repeat applications every 10-14 days will be needed to fully eradicate the colony. The number of retreatments can vary depending on the level of infestation. If you are still seeing roach activity after 60 days, you will want to rotate roach baits as they can develop a resistance or bait aversion. .

You will not always see dead roaches with any product as they will die where ever they die but Gentrol IGR does not kill anything directly only prevents young from maturing into reproducing adults so used as part of a program.

Please view our Roach Control Kits for the best treatment program for active roach infestations. We have our How to Get Rid of Roach Treatment Guide for more information and tips on treatment.

    A

    Q
Does Gentrol Aerosol IGR - 16 oz. can affect insects on contact, or is it in the air like the Gentrol Point Source?
I have mealworms that I feed to my pet gecko, so I'm worried about using Gentrol point source as I think it might get affect their growth cycle. Does the aerosol spray only affect bugs if they crawl over it/come into contact with it? For example if I spray it on the floor or into cracks/crevices? Or does it have a range of 75 sq ft like the point source? Is it transmitted through vapors in the air like the point source?
    A

Gentrol Aerosol is the same thing as Gentrol Point Source Stations just in an aerosol form and will work in the same way by transmitting its vapor through the air to disrupt the life cycle. Gentrol is not an insecticide, therefore it will not directly kill mealworms or any other insects. Since mealworms are an immature stage of an insect, though, we recommend you don't use Gentrol in the area the mealworms are kept.

    Q
When using Gentrol in a drain, how long do I wait before using the drain again?
    A

Allow Gentrol Aerosol IGR to sit in the drain overnight before using.  For drains, apply product into and around the downspout and catch basin area. Coat these areas thoroughly as fly larva develop in the scum buildup on the sides of drain pipes. Repeat applications at 2 to 4 week intervals depending upon the severity of infestation

    Q
How much time does an insect need to be exposed to the Gentrol IGR for it to affect them?
I assume Gentrol works as a gas. I sometimes give rides to friends who are affected by bedbugs. if I spray Gentrol around my car, will it work for hitchhiker bugs? I also keep Cimexa around the rugs and cracks. I used Ecoraider when I had it. If Gentrol doesn't likely work in this situation, what is your top recommendation?
    A

Per the manufacturer: Gentrol works at each molt and critically at the molt to adult where it produces mortality and sterile adults. So it is active at application but the bedbugs have to develop in the presence of Gentrol. It's a great protectant to keep an infestation from developing but it works when they molt. When bed bugs are "hitchhiking" it's usually mated females trying to avoid males. They aren't very mobile so they stick to cracks and crevices in items unless disturbed.

In a study done by ZoeCon, roaches appeared to have twisted or curled wings within two weeks of being exposed to Gentrol IGR. Yes, Gentrol IGR translocates so it can be applied to cracks and crevices without the need to broadcast. You could use Gentrol Aerosol IGR along with D-Force Insecticide or Cimexa Dust in the cracks and crevices of your car.

    Q
Can Gentrol Aerosol IGR be used with glue traps? If so, should they be used in different places?
I.e., Will the gentrol decrease the effectiveness of the glue traps if it is in close proximity to the traps? About a week ago, I found a long forgotten book bag on the floor of a carpeted room (a spare room used primarily for storage). When I picked it up, I saw maybe 50 juvenile roaches on the bag and several more inside it and in the carpet where it had lain. I sprayed everything with raid, took the bag to the dumpster, sprayed again and then vacuumed. Since then, I've seen 3 juveniles in that room. So now, I'm trying to make sure I have this problem nipped in the bud. I'd be grateful for your advice.
    A

Gentrol Aerosol IGR can be used in conjunction with glueboards, as these are only designed to catch insects while Gentrol prevents young from maturing into reproducing adults.  Gentrol is directed to cracks and crevices around the room, traps are laid where you notice activity and are better more for monitoring than eliminating an infestation.

We would recommend one of our roach control kits. You can see the kits by clicking on the link here.

We also have a great article for eliminating them here.

    Safe to use in dishwasher?
I have found several German roaches inside of my dishwasher. Is it safe to spray inside the crevices of the dishwasher?
    A

Gentrol Aerosol IGR  should not be applied inside the dishwasher. You will want to keep it dry after each use and apply products in the Roach Control Rotation A Kit for treating roaches along with non-chemical methods. Q
What the difference between the Gentrol aerosol and the concentrate? Is one more effective against roaches?
    A

Gentrol IGR? comes in 3 different formats: the aerosol can, the concentrate and the point source discs. The concentrate can be tank mixed and applied with your roach spray.  The discs will last for 3 months, 1 disc covers 75 sq ft. and the aerosol form of Gentrol is convenient for treating flies around drains and sinks in homes, roaches in hollow table legs and voids in commercial kitchens etc.  Gentrol should never be used to eliminate a roach population by itself (in any format).  Gentrol will not kill roaches....it only prevents them from reproducing.  You should use roach baits? and roach sprays? in conjunction with the Gentrol when treating for roaches.
