    Q
Will this work on German roaches?
    A

Yes, Gentrol Point Source Stations will work for German roaches. You would want to place the disks in areas where you have seen roach activity. Each disk will treat up to 75 sqft.

    Q
Can Gentrol Point Source be used outdoors if it's kept out of the sun?
I need to control a cockroach problem outside and want the least toxic option available. Gentrol seems to be that and I like the idea of the point source instead of spraying my entire yard. Can I put the stations outside and just keep them out of the sun? Why can't you use it outside? Is it because of the photosensitivity or something else like not concentrating enough because of more airflow? Also, I have an organic garden. If the cockroaches die in the soil will the active ingredient be absorbed into the soil and effect my plants being truly organic?
    A

Gentrol Point Source is only labeled to be used indoors for roaches and would not be effective to treat roaches outdoors nor will it eradicate roaches if used by itself. This product only inhibits the growth cyle and stops immature stages of roaches from developing into adults. An insecticide like Temprid FX would be recommended to use indoors as well as outdoors for effective roach control. For roaches outdoors, we would suggest using NyGuard IGR with Temprid FX for the exterior periemter foundation of the home, around windows, doors and other entry points. For insects in edible gardens, Pyganic Gardening would be a good choice.

The Gentrol Point Source discs, when activated release the insect growth regulator active ingredient through the filter paper that will disperse over a 75 sq ft area. These work best when used on top of refridgerators, cabinets, shelves, etc where the vapor can bounce off the ceiling to thoroughly cover the area/room.

This slow release vapor is not harmful to humans or animals.

    Q
Will using a roach fogger/roach bomb in my home affect the Gentrol Point Source Discs?
I put the gentrol source on the ground and I'm wondering if me bombing my house will cause any damages or make the product not work anymore and I have to put down new ones
    A

Fogging/Bombing homes for roaches typically is not the most effective method to eliminating a roach infestation as these products will only kill roaches that are out at the same time as the fogger is going off. They do not leave a residual effective to transfer back to the colony. The only time fogging would be recommended for roach treatments would be if you are seeing high numbers of roaches and want knockdown of the initial population before following up with proper roach treatment program such as one of our Roach Control Kits.

While fogging would not harm the Gentrol Point Source stations you already have out, it would be recommended to remove any discs while fogging/bombing. Also, when using the Gentrol Point Source, these discs are more effective when placed up high as the vapor it releases is slightly heavier than air, and higher up placements such as the side of upper cabinets above/behind the fridge, etc will help the product disperse through the area better to reach more of the population. While 1 or 2 down low is fine, to get the most from the product you would not want to place many down on the floor.

Each one of our Roach Control Kits includes the top professional grade products for roaches including a non-staining, low odor concentrated insecticide, a roach bait gel and the Gentrol Pointe Source Discs with enough for roughly 3-4 treatments.

View our Roach Control Kits and Roach Treatment Guide for detailed information and tutorial videos.

    Q
Should I put one inside every cabinet and beside or under every major appliance?
    A

No, one Gentrol Point Source will cover about 75 square feet. We recommend placing the discs up high like on top of cabinets or the fridge so the product can get airflow to help it move through the room being treated.

    Q
Is Gentrol point source ready to use right from the box?
    A

To activate Gentrol Point Source, press firmly between thumb and forefinger on the pouch located on the side of the device, until a snapping sound is heard indicating that the contents of the Gentrol capsule have been released. Place the device in any orientation (vertical or horizontal). Do not place in areas accessible to children. Place the Gentrol Point Source in areas where roach or SPP activity has been observed. For vertical placement of Gentrol Point Source Stations, expose the sticky surface by removing the paper backing and pressing the device firmly in place.

  • Asked by Robert from Atlanta, Georgia

    Q
Is there a purpose for baiting these devices?
I have seen while doing follow-up visits at pest-control customers and have seen baits on them. Is this even needed? I watched the YouTube video and from what I can gather when the monitor/trap is snapped it is activated. I am old school and always used Catchmaster insect monitor and trap which could use a lure for insects especially roaches.
    A

Gentrol Point source contains hydroprene, which is a biorational Insect growth regulator (IGR). This disrupts the life cycle of certain insects in the egg and larvae stages of development, essentially making it a type of birth control for insects and preventing them from reproducing. Pests do not need to contact the device directly since the active ingredient can treat up to 75 square feet. On the other hand, the insect monitors usually come in a plastic or cardboard base covered with a very sticky, glue-like substance which will trap the insect and will not be able to extricate themselves while the IGR will not kill the adult stages of the insects.

    Q
What are the steps to use my product when I order?
    A

Do not activate stations until ready to use.
Gentrol Point Source Stations will treat up to 75 square feet, but more stations may be used for heavy infestations or when many treatment areas are enclosed, such as in cabinets. Keep Gentrol Point Source device a minimum distance of 3 feet from exposed food in food-handling establishments.

    Q
My neighbor has tons of roaches and we have never seen but maybe1 or 2 the whole 5 years we lived here now in 1
We have only seen about 5of they were all big except 1 my neighbor has a bad infestation of roaches she sprayed and put some sort of powder down and now they are coming to visit us
    A

Gentrol Point Source should never be used to eliminate a roach population by itself.  Gentrol will not kill roaches...it only prevents them from reproducing.  You should use roach baits and roach sprays in conjunction with the Gentrol Point Source.

One of our roach control kits would be recommended for roach control. These professional kits includes non-staining, low odor concentrated insecticide for spraying the outside perimeter of the home and inside underneath appliances, behind cabinets, under toilets and sinks, etc. You'll also get Roach Bait Gel to help get rid of those roaches that like to hide. Baits can be applied up high in the kitchen in the corner of cabinets and in cracks and crevices in kitchens and bathrooms. The bait contains a slow-acting poison that attracts and kills feeding roaches, who also spread the bait to other roaches by contact or by sharing food. Finally, an Insect Growth Regulator is offered which will stop roaches from laying eggs, helping to halt the infestation. The combination of an IGR with roach bait is a highly effective roach control strategy that is widely used by pest control professionals. The insecticide must be applied with a 1 gallon pump sprayer.

What if the IRG vapors float onto my food, into my coffee, or on my toothbrush?
    A

According to the product label, Gentrol Point Source may be used in areas where food is handled or processed. Placements include areas for receiving, storage, packing, edible waste storage, machinery and enclosed processing systems (mills, dairies, edible oils, syrups). Serving areas would also be considered as a food area.

    Q
Can the Gentrol Point Sorce be put under our dishwasher?
We live in an apartment and are concerned that cockroaches might be under our dishwasher. Can the Gentrol Point Sorce be put under our dishwasher to deal with insects that might reside there?
    A

We would not recommend applying Gentrol Point Source underneath the dishwasher or any other appliance. The product covers up to 75 sq feet. We would recommend putting it somewhere higher that gets proper air flow. You can spray Temprid FX Insecticide around the base of the dishwasher/baseboard of the floor & it will leave a residue that the roaches will get on their bodies & take back. If you want to put anything underneath the dishwasher, we would advise using Delta Dust Insecticide

    Q
My kitchen is small. Where EXACTLY can I put it? Please for the love of god be specific.
This is so frustrating. I really can't stand instructions that are unclear or contradictory. 1. Can I put this in my kitchen? Where exactly? Can food be within 3 feet if it's covered? 2. I'd like clarification on the 3 feet rule. I eat in my room, but I do not prepare or leave food there. Could I put this in my room? My room is small so the area I eat might be within 3 feet. 3. Aside from food issues, is it safe to use Gentrol in my room? Near my bed? High up near the ceiling? Inside my closet? 4. Does it penetrate surfaces? (Important question) Am I safe putting this near, on, and / or behind my refrigerator? 5. Is it ok to put it high up around or in place where I frequent? What about walking by with food? Is it ok if the food is covered? 6. Last question... Is there a video that demonstrates good Gentrol Point locations? That would be so helpful. Please please please answer all my questions thoroughly if you can. I don't mean to sound demanding, but these roaches have me fed up and I just want instructions that are clear as crystal.
    A

Gentrol Point Source can be used in the kitchen but it should not be used on any food preparation surfaces and kept at least 3 feet away from exposed food. Gentrol Point Source can be used in and around kitchen or bathroom cabinets, inside closets, inside pantries, false ceilings, near refrigerators or other appliances and refused areas. They can also be used inside a bedroom if needed, it can be placed behind a dresser or whatever is furthest from the area you sit to eat but it wouldn't affect the food as it's not stored or prepared in the room, it will also have no ill effect on food as you walk nearby an active Gentrol Point Source Station and it will not penetrate surfaces. Please review our Roach Control Guide for further tips and step by step roach control as well as this video on how to use Gentrol Point Source.

    Q
Does Gentrol Point Source photo-degrade if used near large windows?
I had read online that Hydroprene in Gentrol photo-degrades and is therefore only for indoor use. Can it still be used indoors near windows that have UV-filtering film, so there is daylight, but negligible UV?
    A
Yes, you are correct. We only recommend using Gentrol indoors. Yes, Gentrol used near a window indoors will still remain effective. If you are also wanting to an IGR outdoors, we suggest Nyguard IGR as it will remain photostable for up to 7 months.
