What a waste of money!! I purchased this unit about a month ago and it has done nothing but drain my wallet.
I own a food business in NYC and our prep area gets a lot of flies during the summer. I did my research and found no reviews, positive or negative. I liked the discreet, slick and modern design of the Genus Spectra and figured, if it costs so much it must be good. Wrong!! In the 1st 2 weeks it caught 4 flies (not kidding!) I contacted the company and was told that, that is pretty good and to buy other chemicals to combat my fly problem. Really? Chemicals? The Health Department would have a field day at my place. I never write reviews but needed to warn the public.
Before I put this unit up I expected to see at least one fly every day in my garage, but now I do not see any flies at all except for the ones caught on the units sticky boards! The unit has worked much better than I expected!
What a great product for the money!! I purchased this unit about a 4 weeks ago and it has done everything it claims. I own a food business in Boston and our prep area gets a lot of flies during the summer. I did my research and found a few reviews, all positive. I liked the discreet, slick and modern design of the Genus Spectra and figured at this low cost and great reviews, it must be good. Right on the money!! In the 1st 2 weeks it caught so many flies (really). I contacted the company to tell them what a great product this is and they told that, that is pretty good and it will take care of any fly problem. I never write reviews but needed to tell everyone about this great product. the public.
Can the Genus Spectra Fly Light product be used inside a horse barn for fly control?
The Genus Spectra Fly Light could be used in the barn to help with fly control but you want to be sure you are limiting competing light sources so they are more interested in it. For barns, generally the best products are fly traps (such as ribbons or the tape) or fly baits are best.
Does the Genus Spectra Fly Light have to be wall mounted?
Can the unit be laid down on surface or must it be mounted?
The Genus Spectra Fly Light can be installed vertically, horizontally or in corners. The most common pest fly species tend to fly at a height between 3 and 6 feet above the ground. Installing insect light traps in or near this height range maximizes their speed of catch under most conditions, and improves capture efficiency. You also want to be sure that it is not placed where it could be moved or knocked over.
