    Q
What is the strength and application criteria for using Crossbow Herbicide to kill English ivy?
    A

Crossbow is not actually labeled to control English Ivy.  The best thing would be a glyphosate based product like Roundup QuikPro to spot treat.  Care should be taken to avoid desirable plants as it can harm them as well.

    Q
If your dog eats foilage, after it has dried, that is sprayed with Crossbow, will it hurt him?
    A
In most cases, once Crossbow Herbicide has been applied, there is not enough of the active ingredient on the plant in order to harm an animal. There are pets that do have more of a sensitivity than others to certain products so if your pet is one of them, we would recommend keeping them out of the treated area.

    Q
What is the best time of the year to apply Crossbow Herbicide?
Can I spray willows with it the first week in September, the willows are just starting to turn color.

Crossbow Herbicide and other herbicides are best applied when the weeds or brush are actively growing and healthy.  If the target weed is going into dormancy it would not be effective.  Please see the product label for complete instructions for your particular application.

    Q
    Will Crossbow kill my yard?
I'm attempting to get rid of clover and crab grass in my irrigated yard I planted last year. What kind of mixture do I want to mix the Crossbow with so it don't harm the grass but will be effective on the weeds.
    A
Without knowing the specific type of lawn you have, we are unable to provide the mix ratio  you are requesting. Crossbow is not labeled to be used on Bahiagrass, Carpetgrass, St. Augustinegrass, or Centipedegrass. Crossbow is labeld to kill Clover, but not Crabgrass so this might not meet your needs. Depending on the type of lawn you have, QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer would treat for both Clover and Crabgrass.

    Q
    Does Crossbow Herbicide kill bamboo?
    A

Crossbow Herbicide is not labeled for bamboo, however we have heard if you cut down the bamboo level with the ground and apply Crossbow or a similar Triclopyr based product undiluted to the fresh cut it can help kill it out. Bamboo is extremely stubborn, so it can take several steps to remove it completely. You can use Round Up QuickPro at the highest listed usage rate to help eliminate bamboo. You will be required to cut the bamboo down to a short stump and then apply the Round Up QuickPro. It can take several applications to achieve the desired results.

  • Asked by Hal from Bend, Or

    Q
    Does Crossbow work on Aspen?
I cut some large Aspens (3) last Sept and now the roots and stumps are sprouting throughout my lawn.
    A
Crossbow should work great on Aspen.  It is an herbicide that is labeled for what is called a cut stump treatment.  A cut stump treatment is where you hack or saw or cut the tree or bush off down at the stump level and immediately drench the roots and/or cut stumps with a concentrated dose of crossbow.  The important thing here is to immediately drench the cut stump after cutting, so you want to mix the product and have it ready to go immediately after cutting it. It may require 2 treatments.

    Q
    Crossbow not killing tansy ragwort
I have an infestation of tansy plants in my pasture which I sprayed on a sunny afternoon. 3 days later some of the plants have brown edges but I expected them to be dead and they're still quite green. I am unsure of the age of the crossbow, and I used about 4oz of product for 2 gal of water. What am I doing wrong?
    A
When you are treating for tansy plants, it is recommended that you use the herbicide when the plants are actively growing. If they are dormant, Crossbow Herbicide may not be as effective. We would recommend doing repeat applications at least 14 days after the first.

  • Asked by Frann
    05/19/2015
    Q
I have honeysuckle I want to get rid of but I have roses that are 5 feet away. Will Crossbow kill the roses?
    A
If Crossbow gets on the roses or within the drip line of the rose bushes it could potentially casue damage. It is important to make sure there is no wind when you are applying the Crossbow to insure that it does not drift onto the roses, and also to make sure that you do not over-spray, because that could allow runoff to flow to the area where the roses are.
