    Q
Will Crossbow Herbicide harm children if they come upon a field where it is being sprayed?
    A

No, Crossbow Herbicide is a very safe product as long as it's used as directed on the product label. You want to make sure children are not present at the time of application or until the treated area has had time to dry completely. After the treated area is dry children can safely resume normal activity.

    Q
The neighbor sprayed Crossbow diluted in their yard and half our birch is yellow and leaves limp, what to do?
The tree is near the back fence and they sprayed a large area (per the labels instructions they say) 2 foot high x 15 ft weeded overgrowth and I fear it was absorbed by the root base. We gave it a good bath and washed down the root base soil area for a while. Help!!! We love our only 30 ft river birch tree!
    A
Crossbow is a vegetation management product which means it is not very selective, it will kill almost anything.  Although it will not harm a tree when used at recommended levels if it gets on the base of the tree, it will harm a tree if you spray Crossbow on the foliage.  If the tree itself was not sprayed directly there could be another cause for the issue.  It would be best to speak with a local arborist or horticulturalist who is more familiar with any tree issues in your area.

    Q
Will spraying Crossbow near Soy Beans kill the growing bean plant?
    A
If Crossbow gets on the soybeans or within the drip line of the soy bean plants it could potentially casue damage or death to the plant. It is important to make sure there is no wind to insure the product does not drift on to the soy beans and also to make sure you are not over spraying and allowing run off to flow on to the plants.

I need a product which will kill the young sweetgum and brush but not kill my other trees which are some oak and pine.

Crossbow is known to be a great product to kill brush and other unwanted woody plants. You should not spray if it is windy and be careful that over spray does not get on the desirable trees.

  • Asked by Jason from Cameron, Mo
    04/27/2018
    Q
If dandelions seed out after spraying Crossbow, will the seeds be viable and continue to spread?
    A

Yes, that is a possibility since Crossbow Herbicide is a post emergent herbicide.  It does not offer pre emergent properties that would target germinating weeds or seeds.  For a pre emergent for dandelions you could use something like Prodiamine 65 WDG

    Q
Will Crossbow contaminate soil and poison vegetables? How long should I wait to plant a garden?
I am concerned about the spread as well. I dug up as much of a spreading tree as possible but I need to kill the roots. If I spray directly onto roots and around soil, How long must I wait to plant vegetables?

  • Asked by James from Greenup Ky
    05/21/2018
    Q
Can I spray Crossbow Herbicide in pastures to kill out milkweed?
    A

Use up to 1-1/2 gallons of Crossbow Herbicide per acre in enough water to deliver 10 to 30 gallons of total spray per acre for milkweed. The best time for treatment of biennial and winter annual weeds is when the plants are in the rosette stage and actively growing. A re-treatment of hard-to-control weeds such as field bindweed, chicory, dogfennel, goldenrod, horsenettle, kudzu, milkweed, perennial sowthistle, leafy spurge, and Canada thistle may be necessary. After using Crossbow Herbicide, animals should be kept off the area until it has dried. Your animals should not be allowed to graze in the area that was treated.
