The pen is overrun with fire ants and small brown ants. I cant find their mounds, (we live in the wilderness) so i want to dust with this product. Is it safe for my chickens to peck the ground for feed/seeds that have fallen on dusted ground in their outdoor run/covered range pen?

  • Asked by Audrey from Guntersville, Alabama

    Q
How long will Hi-Yield Garden, Pet, and Livestock Dust last before and after rain if applied in my dog pens?
    A

A dry product like Hi-Yield Garden, Pet, and Livestock Dust will last on outdoor plants only until the area get wet from rainfall or watering. We suggest using residual insecticide sprays for the best control of insects like fleas and ticks in a dog pen area. You can use concetrates such as Onslaught Insecticide mixed with NyGuard IGR for excellent treatment and control of common insects in these areas. Be sure the animals are out of the treatment area until the application is dry. We have more tips on flea control in this online guide.

  • Asked by Carol from Georgetown, Sc

    Q
May I use Hi -Yield Garden, Pet, and Livestock Dust on Knock-out roses for tent caterpillars? Will it harm roses?
Fuzzy green caterpillars with marking on the body, are on my knock-out roses.
    A

Hi-Yield Garden, Pet, and Livestock Dust should not be applied directly on roses and it is not labeled for treatment of tent caterpillars. We would recommend avoiding spraying the flowers themselves, or you could choose a product that is specifically labeled for use on roses and other flowers. Bonide Systemic Insect Control would be a good choice for long-term systemic control, and Hi-Yield Thuricide Concentrate is a great choice for contact kill.

  • Asked by Alice from Atwood, Ks
    04/26/2012
    Q
Will Hi-Yield Garden, Pet, and Livestock Dust work in commercial cattle duster bags? IS it ORMI listed?
How many 4# bags would it take to last a season?
    A
Hi-Yield Garden, Pet, and Livestock Dust is listed for use in commercial cattle duster bags for fly control. This product is not ORMI listed because it contains permethrin which is a synthetic insecticide. We are not sure how many 4lb bags it would take to last a season as this will depend on the size of your herd and the position of the bags and how often the cattle pass beneath them.

  • Asked by Marget from Memphis
    10/28/2017
    Q
Can I use Hi-Yield Garden Pet and Livestock dust on carpet to get rid off fleas?
    Will it be hazardous?
    A

Hi  Yield Garden, Pet and Livestock Dust should not ever be used indoors on carpets and is not labeled for that use. No matter what someone advises you to do, always read the label and follow the labels instructions over all else as the label is the law and the correct and safest way to use the product you have.

If you want to treat carpets indoors for fleas we would suggest using our Indoor Flea Kit which is labeled for indoor use and will do a much better job of controlling fleas than the Hi-Yield Garden dust would, even if it were labeled for indoor use.
