    Q
How to treat drain flies breeding in sump pit?
Drain flies are breeding in stagnant water in sump our sump pit. Have tried treating with DF 5000 (pouring directly into standing water). Is this method effective?
    A
Typically for sump pumps and pits it is good to use a foaming product which would be our invade hot spot.  Foam gets into the pump and cracks and crevices where the gel is really only meant for drains in your kitchen or bathrooms.

    Q
How do I control drain flies in a kicthen sink and drain near a water heater?
We are trying to control drain-flies, but we are getting them from a dry pipe, as described below. In what areas would bio-foam be used? I'm planning on using DF5000 for the sink/kitchen drains, however...I have a deep drain near my water-heater which is usually dry, but I believe this is the source of our drain flies. I'm guessing this drain eventually leads back into our sewer system and suspect the drain flies are coming into the house from this location. Would a foamer be used in this application? (The drain in question is 4" in diameter that drops straight down about 18", then does a 90-degree angle back into our sewer system - this line is usually dry.) Or, could I use DF5000 on this drain pipe too? By the way, does your company ever use/suggest the use of a flexible round brush to clean these things out?
    A

We would recommend Invade Bio Foam for your situation. The foam would be ideal because it has the ability to expand and come in to contact with surfaces that the gel cannot. While Invade Bio foam already contains a foaming agent, it does require a poly foamer to make the application.  And yes, we do recommend scrubbing the drain with a round brush to help remove some of the decaying organic matter as this will help speed up insect elimination. Flies often aren't just breeding in drains, but can breed in any area where food, moisture or other organic matter builds up and is undisturbed. Prime areas include peeling away baseboards, machinery cracks, beverage line bundles, beverage fountain drip trays, under ice machines and voids around dishwashers, walk-in coolers and tray conveyors. You can use the foam in most of these "hot spot" areas if necessary. We also have the Invade Hotspot available. This foam product comes ready to use and does not require any special equipment.

    Q
Can Nibor-D be used in conjunction with Invade Bio-Foam for drains?
Will Nibor-D kill the live active bacillus in the Invade since it is a salt?
    A

Depending upon what pest you are treating for you shouldn't need to use both products.  Just use one or the other.  With that being said we would not recommend using both Nibor-D and Invade Bio Foam at the same time to treat your drain because different products are formulated differently and are not meant to be combined with other products.

    Q
Can Invade Bio Foam be used in fogging equipment like an Actisol unit?
    A

No, Invade Bio Foam is far too thick to use in a fogging or aerosol machine such as an actisol unit. Bio Foam is made to be used in a hand, power, or hose-end foamer only. Invade Bio Zap is a formulation that can be fogged in crawl spaces. Please let us know if you have further questions or need further recommendations for your application.

    Q
Will Invade Bio Foam Concentrate take away the food source for sowbugs and springtails?
I have minor amount of springtails likely in my drains reproducing in some sludge built up. They have been able to migrate as well as sow bugs in crack between basement slab and wall inside. There are no visible or measurable moisture issues or larger organic debris, known remaining entrances. I suspect micro organics where slab touches soil and maybe sludge in pipes. What do you recommend?
    A

Invade Bio Foam Concentrate will help get rid of the organic matter in cracks, crevices, drains, wall voids, and other areas where scum tends to build up. It will usually take a couple hours to disapate after application but will not kill the insect, only takes the breeding ground and food source away.  If no visible signs of moisture are found, you may want to reach out to an inspector to help locate where the decaying matter or moisture issue is coming from.

Removing the scum and organic matter may not be enough, this is where we recommend spraying the ouside periemter and inside baseboards, cracks, crevices, under sinks, etc with a residual product. Temprid SC is a great product for indoor/outdoor control in conjuction with Delta Dust as a crack and crevice application around windows, doors, etc.

    Q
Sump pump infestation using Invade Bio Foam
If I use this foam in a sump pump do I need to drain the well first?
    A

Invade Bio Foam in a poly foamer.can be applied to a sump pump and you would not need to drain the well but you can.  You should treat over multiple days with the foam and it will eat the "gunk" in the cracks which should eliminate the breeding locations.
