Q

What can I use in my sump pump to control sewer flies? I see live larva floating on top of water.
I also have what looks like gnats on the bathroom floor & kitchen floor? Are these baby sewer flies, they do fly? Any help would be appreciated.

We would suggest a product called Invade Hot Spot. Invade hot spot is a foam in an aerosol can that you can apply to cracks in the tile on the kitchen and bathroom floors where the drain flies are breeding. Typically this happens when there are cracks in tile or other places and water and grime get down in these cracks. Fly larvae can breed in these areas. You should treat over multiple days with the foam and it will eat the "gunk" in the cracks which should eliminate the breeding locations.

What can I use to get rid of drain flies in my refrigerator's ice dispenser?
Every time I go to get ice a bunch of little drain flies fly out. The label on the hotspot says not to use on food contact surfaces unless able to clean with ammonia or steam clean. I would not be able to clean either as I can't fit anything up in the ice dispenser. Is there some other method such as baiting that I could utilize?

We recommend flushing the lines with a cleaning solution that's safe for your ice dispenser, you should be able to find a list on the dispenser's guide or contact the manufacturer for more information as this is something that needs to be done often. We also recommend thoroughly cleaning the ice dispenser and using Invade Hot Spot on the tray to break down any organic matter. Be sure to also check for any leaks because this can also cause drain flies. Using a Flyweb Fly Light nearby can also be very helpful in gaining control of drain flies.

Invade actually comes in three different formulations, Invade Hot Spot, Invade Bio Foam or the InVade Bio Drain Gel. Invade Hot Spot, the product you refer to as a spray is actually a ready to use foam that can be used in just about any crack, crevice, void, drain, peeling away baseboards, machinery cracks, beverage line bundles, beverage fountain drip trays, under ice machines and voids around dishwashers, walk-in coolers and tray conveyors or other areas where organic matter can build up. The Invade Bio foam is a concentrated foam product that will treat the same areas as the the Invade Hot Spot. The Invade Bio Foam requires a foaming device such as the Chapin Poly Foamer to make it foam. The Invade Bio Drain Gel utilizes a thickened advanced gel formula and is typically only used in drains.

Is Invade Hot Spot the product I need for drain fly larvae in a grout line?
I have drain fly larvae (black "worms") coming out of cracks between the floor and wall of my upstairs master bath shower. Even a few about an inch up in a wall crack. So I need to treat that area as well as the drain. Will the hot spot foam along with the gel in the drain work for this problem? I was told to put a dehumidifier in for a week to totally dry out the tile area before regrouting. Should I do this before or after treatment?

The Invade Hot Spot should do a great job eliminating the drain fly larvae in the areas you mentioned. We recommend that you eliminate all of the larvae before grouting to avoid any issues.

Looking for product to control flying insects in bar setting plus a product for roaches
I own a bar (no restaurant) occasionally we experience the small flying insects around the liquor bottles and fruit. I am unhappy with my present exterminating service and wish to take matters in my own hand. In restaurants, fruit flies almost always breed from the syrup and other food and drink that falls behind the bar areas and where the soda machines and soda guns are. We carry traps to catch the adult flies that are flying around, the best seller being our Natural Catch Plus Fruit Fly Traps. As far as the source and breeding sites, you should wash all of the areas underneath the bar and soda areas to clean any syrup or other sticky areas and places where food could have failed behind or under machines It is also a good idea to apply a product like Invade Hot Shot which is a foam that will eat away any organic matter that fruit flies breed in. We recommend to use Phantom in cracks and crevices for roaches in resturants.

Invade is one of the best. If you are still having issues, you may want to consider adding Gentrol Aerosol to your treatment. This will break down the reproductive cycle.

No, Invade Hot Spot cannot be used in the dishwasher drains according to the product label. It can only the voids around dishwashers
