Utilizing bait stations is important when using Kaput Rat & Mouse Bait - 32 placepacks. This will ensure that people and pets will not be able to get to the bait. The bait stations are not quintessential in the eradication of the rodents.
Baiting with products like the Kaput Rat & Mouse Bait inside and in attics is really not recommended as you cannot control where a rodent is going to die after consuming the bait. When doing so you do run the risk of having the rodents die in an inaccessible area which of course could cause an odor issue for a short time period (and perhaps even an insect issue). We recommend using glue boards and traps indoors for rodent issues instead.
Kaput Rat & Mouse Bait does have food based ingredients to attract rodents. When used directly in burrows the label states to cover treated runways or holes with a shignle or board or ground vegetation if present. Check placements daily and remove any fouled or spoiled bait and replenish if vole activity and interest in bait persists.
Kaput Rat & Mouse Bait is extremely toxic to mammals and birds. Dogs, cats and other predatory and scavenging mammals and birds might be poisoned if they feed upon animals that have eaten this bait. Do not apply directly to water, or to areas where surface water is present or to intertidal areas below the mean high water mark. Bait stations are mandatory for outdoor, above-ground use. Tamper-resistant bait stations must be used if children, pets, non-target mammals, or birds may access the bait.
Rodenticides must be used in tamper-resistant stations or otherwise secured out-of-reach of non-target animals and children. We would not recommend applying Kaput Rat & Mouse Bait - 32 placepacks indoors. Here are the application recommendations:
Rats: 2 - 8 placepacks per bait placement in intervals of 15 - 30 feet in infested areas. Maintain a fresh supply of bait for 15 days. Mice: Open pack and apply 1/4 to 1/2 ounce of bait per placement at intervals of 8 to 12 feet. Maintain a fresh supply of bait for 15 days. Voles: Open pack and load one ounce (half of a pack) of bait into each bait station. Situate bait stations near runways, burrow openings or plants that voles have been damaging. Maintain a fresh supply of bait for 15 days. Use a tamper-resistant bait station when children, pets, or non-target wildlife are present.
When placing bait inside of tamper-resistant bait stations, the rodents can come and go out of them. You will not trap rodents in the stations unless you were to put a glueboard or snap trap inside of the station.
For rodents inside, it is best to use snap traps and glueboards so you can control where they are going to die. You should also seal up all cracks and crevices where rodents may be able to enter the structure. Tamper-resistant bait stations with a rodenticide outside would also help if they are coming and going. We have some guides here that can help as well

One popular method for controlling voles, is to gas them using our popular product called Giant Destroyer which is basically a smoke bomb you set off in the burrow hole of the vole which will kill anything in the burrow. Another method, is to pour bait down the burrow hole for the vole to eat. Kaput Rat & Mouse Bait is also labeled for voles. Please refer to the article below for helpful tips.
Kaput Rat & Mouse Bait is not labeled to be used in gardens or soil for voles. Per the product label: all applications for controlling voles must be made in tamper-resistant bait stations. So you can use around the perimeter in stations.

Kaput Rat & Mouse Bait is not labeled to control moles or prairie dogs. As it does contain food based ingredients non-target animals can be attracted to the blox, but outside it would only be used tamper-resistant bait stations as directed on the product label. This limits non-target animal access.
Moles would not be attracted to it at all as it is used in stations above ground and they feed on live insects such as earthworms and grubs. Talpirid Mole Bait is the most popular bait for moles themselves. When used directed on the product label, will be applied to areas that will for the most part be inaccessible to non-target animals.
We don't recommend using Kaput Rat & Mouse Bait Rodenticide inside the home because the rodent may die inside one of your wall voids and then you will be left with a horrendous odor and possibly a secondary insect infestation. It can be used in and around homes per the label, however we don't recommend it.
Kaput Rat & Mouse Bait is not labeled to kill or control gophers. Giant Destroyer Smoke Bombs can be used to kill gophers.
