Kontos Insecticide Miticide will control insects that are in greenhouses and nurseries. It will provide systemic and foliar control on fruit and nut trees, vegetable plants, and ornamentals. It is a Suspension Concentrate formula that is fully systemic that will move through the phloem and xylem to all the plant tissues including new leaf, shoot and root growth. The active ingredient is taken in by ingestion. Kontos will control pests such as Rust Mites, Mealybugs, Leafhoppers, Aphids, Adelgids and Whiteflies.
KONTOS is a Suspension Concentrate formulation. Following application to plant foliage, KONTOS is fully systemic, moving through phloem and xylem to all plant tissues including new shoot, leaf and root growth. Spray adjuvants with spreading and penetrating characteristics may improve leaf uptake and systemic concentration of active ingredient. The active ingredient contained in KONTOS is active primarily by ingestion. Fecundity of adult insects and mites may be reduced. Make applications as preventative treatments or to coincide with early threshold levels in developing insect and mite populations. KONTOS can be applied by ground equipment (including hand-held application equipment) or through chemigation.
CONTAINER DRENCH APPLICATIONS - SMALL CONTAINERS

Do not apply more than 25 fl oz (750 ml, 0.4 lb of active ingredient) per acre of nursery per season.
Do not apply more than 5 fl oz of product (0.08 lb of active ingredient) per acre per season to vegetable transplants.
Do not apply to greenhouse grown vegetables other than vegetables transplants.
CONTAINER DRENCH APPLICATIONS – LARGE CONTAINERS
For application only to ornamental plants in greenhouses, nurseries, and interior plantscapes including non-bearing fruit and nut trees (i.e., trees that will not bear fruit or nuts for one year after application), using soil drench, micro-irrigation, drip irrigation, over-head irrigation, ebb and flood irrigation, or hand-held motorized irrigation equipment.
Do not apply more than 25 fl oz (750 mL, 0.4 lb of active ingredient) per acre of nursery per season.
Works good on immature life stages but not as well on the adult. Had to follow-up with another class of chemical. This is a good one to have in rotation if used early in development. For the money, it should kill adults better and faster. Used it both as a foliar and drench application with similar results; however, the drench rate instructions are not specific enough to apply to landscapes. Probably won't buy again if the same results are produced in the future.
What is the wait time after using Kontos as a drench on greenhouse grown herbs before the herbs can be harvested and consumed?
According to the manufacturer, Kontos SC Insecticide/Miticide should not be applied to greenhouse grown vegetables other than vegetable transplants. This product should not be used on plants that are currently in bloom.
Can Kontos be added to a reservoir for a dripper system ??
Kontos Insecticide/Miticide is labeled to be used in irrigation systems but the label does not state anything about reservoirs. We would recommend contacting the manufacturer OHP Inc, directly for confiramtion on this use. They can be reached at 1-800-659-6745.
