Milky Spore Powder has a shelf life of 3 years.
Milky Spore Powder begins working as soon as it is applied as long as grubs are feeding. Once grubs are infected they will multiply the spore by several billion times and spread it further. In warm climates good control can occur in one to three years. In colder areas, it may take three to five years. Once established in a lawn, Milky Spore has been known to last 15 to 20 years.
We do apologize for any confusion! The manufacturer recycles bags to be safer for the environment, so sometimes this can happen. We do have the Milky Spore Powder product label on our website here.
Milky Spore Powder does not affect pets, beneficial insects, fish, bees, birds, other animals, plants, or man. It is not a poison. Children and pets can return to the treated areas after application.
Milky Spore can be put down any time the ground isn't frozen, regardless of what other products you are using. However, if all the grubs have already been eliminated by another product, the spore will not have the ability to spread. If there are no grubs in the soil to consume it, it cannot multiply. The Grubex will not make the spore itself ineffective, it will just hinder the spreading process until more grubs appear.

Milky Spore Powder can be applied any time the ground is not frozen since it will need to be watered in, but you generally get the best results applying April through November. You may get faster control with Milky Spore when applying in the Spring and late Summer, when grubs are actively feeding. Keep in mind that complete grub control may take 3-4 years.
Milky Spore Powder needs to be watered in to soak the spore into the soil where it will become available to grubs feeding on the roots of grass. If no rain is expected, you can use an oscillating hose sprayer for 15 to 20 minutes over the entire treated area. There may still be some white residue but this is chalk used as carrier for the spores. If light rain is expected and it will not be a heavy rain or washout, this can also water the Milky Spore into the soil. Be sure to water the spores in before raking or mowing the lawn.
Milky Spore Powder does need to be watered into the soil with rainfall or irrigation after application, so rainfall actually helps the Milky Spore to reach the grubs in the soil. If you has so much rain and flooding that the soil was physically removed from the area and needed to be replaced, then we would recommend reapplying in those areas.
Yes, Milky Spore Powder should be applied directly to the soil. We would recommend removing the mulch from the area before applying the product.
