    Q
I have several large arborvite bushes that have birds and mosquitos, will Mosquito Control Kit - Ultimate treatment harm the birds?
Will this treatment harm birds nested in treated areas? Any sale on the Ultimate pro unit?
    A

When used as directed the products in the Mosquito Control Kit - Ultimate will not harm birds.  Just be sure to apply when they are not in the area and hopefully they will not return until dry.  Be sure to direct treatment to the underside of leaves of trees and bushes as this is where the adult mosquitoes lay during the day.  The products in the kits are offered at a discounted rate when purchased as such so there is no current sale on them.

    Q
How many gallons of mixed Talstar would it take to treat 3 heavily wooded acres?
    A

You would use about 2 gallons of Talstar at a rate of 0.05 fl oz per gallon of water to cover 1000 sq ft consistently of heavily wooded land with the Solo 451 Mist Blower  in the Mosquito Control Kit - Ultimate . You would want to use the ExciterR and Archer IGR both nearest to your residence not out in the dense areas.

  • Asked by Jacob from Atlanta, Ga

    Q
How do I protect flowers and bees that pollinate them?
I have a lot of flowers in my yard. I want to treat the entire yard for mosquitoes, but I don't want to kill the bees that pollinate the flowers or damage the flowers. what should I do?
    A

Our best recommendation when applying insecticides like in the Mosquito kit and bees are concerned would be to make the applications when bees are not pollinating. There is no 100% way to protect bees when using insecticides, natural or not.

    Q
How much area can I treat with the supplied chemicals in the Mosquito Control Kit - Ultimate?
5- 1acre lots? at at product mixing dosage?
    A

With the Mosquito Control Kit - Ultimate, you will be getting a ¾ gallon of Talstar P, a Pint of ExciteR Insecticide, a Pint of Tekko Pro IGR, a 2.5 lbs bottle of Altosid Pro-G Mosquito Larvacide and the Solo 451 Mist Blower. A ¾ gallon of Talstar P has 96 ounces of product, it will be used at a rate of 1 oz per gallon of water so it will treat up to 96,000 square feet or approximately a little over 2 acres. Tekko Pro is diluted at a rate of 1 oz per gallon of water, at this rate you’ll be able to treat approximately 16,000 square feet. ExciteR can be mixed at a rate of 0.25 - 0.50 oz per gallon of water, at this rate you’ll be able to treat approximately 32,000 to 64,000 square feet. All 3 chemcials can be mixed in the same solution and sprayed together, they will not counteract each other as they have different modes of action. A 2.5 lbs bottle of Altosid Pro-G treats up to 5,445 square feet or 20,183 gallons of water. Please refer to our Mosquito Control Guide for further tips and infomation.

  • Asked by Bert from Mount Pleasant
    03/01/2016
    Q
How many treatments can I get out of the Mosquito Control Kit - Ultimate if I'm treating every 3 weeks?
I live on a half acre in SC. Also, how high will the mist reach into the trees?
    A

When using the products in the Mosquito Control Kit - Ultimate, you will need to wait at least 28 days between applications of the Talstar P for mosquitoes, per the product label. There is a 3/4 gallon of Talstar P included in this kit, which treats up to 96,000 square feet when treating at the rate of 1.0 fl. oz. per 1,000 square feet. Since you would only be treating around the perimeter of the structure and around the edge of the property, concentrating on foliage, you should have enough to treat the entire Summer. That being said, it is hard to know an exact amount for every situation. Most folks will not use the ExciteR and the Archer for every treatment; however, if you did, you may need to repurchase one or both of these items before the end of the Summer. The Altosid Pro-G lasts for up to 30 days once applied in water, so how long the bottle lasts will depend on the total volume of water or potential standing water that you need to treat.

The misting range for the Solo 451 Mist Blower is about 40 feet horizontally and 35 feet vertically. You can view a video of this product in action on the product page.

  • Asked by James from Minneapolis, Mn
    05/02/2023
    Q
What about Butterfly's are they in danger if product isused
    Also passing bees.
    A

The Talstar P  that is in the Mosquito Control Kit - Ultimate can harm beneficial insects like bees and butterflies that come into contact with treated areas. The best way to reduce the chance of the Talstar affecting the bees, butterflies and beneficial insects is to spray later in the day when they are not active and are back in their homes/nests and try to avoid blooms of flowers and plants they would be using for pollination.

  • Asked by Dylan from North Branch, Mn
    05/03/2023
    Q
How do I mix this all together to treat my lawn?
I have a 1acre lot that I would like to treat. Can I mix these all together into the mayurama mist blower? If so what would the mixture be of each checmical?
    A
Dilute Talstar P at a rate of 1 oz. of concentrate per gallon of water or per 1,000 square feet of area to be treated. Dilute Archer IGR at a rate of 1 oz. of concentrate per gallon of water or per 1,000 square feet. Dilute ExciteR at a rate of 0.25 - 0.50 oz. of concentrate per 1,000 square feet for most applications. Higher rates may be used for cleanout of very heavy populations: see the product label for complete use rates. All of the above products can be mixed together.  Please see full application instructions on our The Mosquito Control Kit- Ultimate product page.

  • Asked by Mark from Austin Texas
    06/04/2024
    Q
    Talstar resistant?
I am wondering if my Talstar has degraded in the Texas heat or if I have bred some Talstar resistant flies. I sprayed an hour ago, Talstar P, Exciter, Larvacide and IGR. However I have seen one mosquito and two black flies. Am I not mixing it properly?
    A
According to the manufacturer, Talstar can last for up to 5 years if stored at room temperatures with the cap tightly sealed. IF you stored it in a location with excessive heat it can affect the efficacy of products in kit. The items in the kit should be mixed 1 oz per gallon of water.

  • Asked by Mike
    07/15/2022
    Q
Is there any product you can use in this to also kill ticks.
    A
This kit comes with Talstar P and Archer IGR which bot targets ticks and other insects.  Talstar P mixed with  Archer is a good choice for tick control. Talstar P would work to kill ticks that come into contact with treated surfaces while the Archer would work to help stop juvenile ticks from reaching sexual maturity. You should remember that ticks may be hidden in tall or dense brush so higher treatment volumes may be needed to treat the entire plant, not just the top side of the plant where it is easiest to spray. You should try to get the application on the underside of leaves and all the way to the bottom of the plant. We recommend treating the entire infested area (no spot treating). When you are dealing with an area that has a high tick population you may be required to treat once a month from spring through to the first frost, no matter what product you use.
