  • Asked by Jon from Richmond, Va
    04/05/2017
    Q
Is MSMA Target 6.6 safe for use on tall fescue that is being infested with dallisgrass?
    A

MSMA Target 6.6 is only labeled for commercial turf like golf courses and sod farms, and it is not safe for use on fescue. We would recommend a product like Dismiss Nxt instead which is safe for a fescue lawn, and labeled to treat for dallisgrass. It is labeled for supression only though. There is a possibility that after multiple uses for supression your fescue grass would fill in the spots and choke out the dallisgrass completely.

  • Asked by Scott from Dallas, Tx
    05/08/2018
    Q
Is the MSMA Target 6.6 effective for Dallisgrass, Johnson Grass, and Crabgrass on a golf course? Would a golf course have to reapply after 7 days for treatment to be effective?"
    A

MSMA Target 6.6? is labeled for commercial turf like golf courses and sod farms, and it is not safe for use on bermuda. We would recommend a product like Certainy Turf Herbicide? instead which is safe for a bermuda lawn, and labeled to treat for dallisgrass. It is labeled for supression only though. There is a possibility that after multiple uses for supression your bermuda grass would fill in the spots and choke out the dallisgrass completely. Certainty will not kill crabgrass. Quinkill Max is a great product to kill actively growing crabgrass in Bermuda.

  • Asked by Pamela from Rockport, Tx
    01/22/2019
    Q
Can I use a weed and feed at the same time as MSMA Target 6?
Or can I use a fertilizer at the same time like 13-13?
    A

Whether you can use a weed and feed product at the same time as MSMA Target will depend on the weed and feed and what herbicide active ingredient is in it. In general, it is fine to use herbicides and fertilizers at the same time as long as the labels do not restrict it and the timing is correct for both. Keep in mind that you should not be fertilizing your warm-season turf until after it transitions.

  • Asked by Trey from Mexia, Tx
    03/11/2018
    Q
Will MSMA kill cat claw vine in my pasture?
    A

MSMA Target 6.6 is not labeled to be used on pasture or grazing areas, and it is not recommended to be used for cat claw. This is an invasive plant species for which you may want to contact your Cooperative Extension office. You would likely need to use a cut stem treatment with a glyphosate product like RoundUp QuikPro or a brush killer such as Crossbow Herbicide.

    Q
Can MSMA be used to kill poison ivy?
    A

MSMA Target 6.6 is not labeled for poison ivy. We suggest using Trimec 992 Broadleaf Herbicide. You will use 2.5-3 TBSP per gallon for treating poison ivy using a hand pump or backpack sprayer. Please refer to the product label for complete mixing and application instructions for all uses of the product for best results.

    Q
When is the best time of year to apply MSMA Target 6.6 for sandburs in turf?
    A

MSMA Target 6.6 is not labeled to control to sandburs in lawns and would not be recommended.  Sandburs are really easier to prevent than to treat using a post emergent.  Dimension would be great to use before sandburs emerge.

  • Asked by Daniel from Evansville Indiana
    07/29/2018
    Q
How long after application of MSMA Target 6.6 until you can over seed?
Treating dallisgrass and would like to over seed with KGB mix
    A

MSMA Target 6.6 is only labeled for commercial turf like golf courses and sod farms, and it is not safe for use on home lawns.  The label does not give timing for seeding for this reason.

Dismiss Nxt would be the better option for home lawn use, and may be used on seeded, sodded or sprigged turgrasses that are well established. First application of Dismiss NXT Herbicide to newly seeded, sodded or sprigged turfgrass can be made following second mowing providing the grass has developed into a uniform stand with a good root system

Reseeding, overseeding or sprigging of treated areas within one (1) month after application of this product could inhibit the establishment of desirable turfgrasses so you do need to wait.

    Q
What is the difference between Target 6 and MSMA Target 6.6 Herbicide?
    A

We apologize but only carry the MSMA Target 6.6 Herbicide so cannot advise of any differences with it compared to the other products not currently offered.  MSMA Target 6.6 is a professional selective post-emergent liquid herbicide that provides weed control in cotton, golf courses, sod farms and highway rights of way.  The Drexel MSMA 6 Plus, it is the same, just different manufacturer.

  • Asked by Dianne from Carthage, Ms
    02/12/2021
    Q
Can MSMA be used on a vegetable garden? If so, how long before it can be planted?
I have a lot of nut grass and stickers I want to get rid of.
    A

MSMA Target 6.6 cannot be used in a vegetable garden. Per manufacturer for residue-for leafy or up-ground veggies- there is no issue but for soil grown veggies such as potatoes or carrots it's not allowed to be grown on soil treated with Target. We advise you should just avoid using this product where you need to plant a vegetable garden.
