    Q
How many Nuvan ProStrips are needed for 56-quart plastic tub?
I see we can cut the strips down when doing the tub method for books. Approximately what fraction of a small strip would be sufficient to treat a 56-quart plastic bin?
    A

The manufacturer of the Nuvan ProStrips advises against cutting the strips. We recommend that you do not overly pack bags/containers/totes too full with belongings so that the vapors can work around the items effectively. You can use 1 full strip per tub.

  • Asked by Kaleb

    Q
What else can I use to get rid of fruit or phorid flies?
im using drain gels, clean air III, natural fruit fly traps, just trying to see what else i can be doing.
    A
The first thing we recommend you do is get a positive identification on the insect you are trying to eliminate. Many of the tiny flying insects get misidentified by home or business owners which leads to ineffective treatment programs. You can contact your local cooperative extension office and request to speak to the entomologist on staff. The entomologist will instruct you on how to obtain a sample of the insect and send it to them. If, as you thought it is indeed fruit flies then you MUST find the source of the infestation. Look under stoves, refrigerators, counters and the like for spilled fruit juices or fruits. In commercial kitchens you should clean soda lines and drip pans in and under equipment. Performing a thorough sanitation should help eliminate the source of the infestation. Even the best products on the market cannot overcome poor sanitation. The products you purchased will help get rid of the flying adults but without finding the source of infestation you will continue to see new adults everyday. Also, the use of fly lights in commercial kitchens should help with most fly infestations.

  • Asked by Liz
    02/13/2015
    Q
What could I have done wrong?
I believe bed bugs were brought into my apt from a new couch. Despite my attempts to treat the couch I gave in and decided I needed to encase it w strips. I used 4 Warps bags for the cushions, body and ottoman. I thoroughly made sure there were no holes in the bags and i twisted tied and duct taped the opening. I let the bags sit for three weeks. Before opening I vacuumed and sprayed bedlam in the area so no bugs would jump on. I swear after I reassembled the couch it was like bed bugs gone wild - as if the strips had angered them instead of kill them. Eaten alive by bites while watching a movie. i am so heartbroken with disappointment. How could this have happened?
    A
According to the Nuvan Prostrips label, they are not labeled to be used in the manner they were used. These are commonly used in areas where individuals are not generally present. We are unable to give advice if the product is being used incorrectly. Using Bedlam Insecticide is your best option for the couch. You will spray the tufts, folds, seams and the places where bed bugs reside. You will do this every 10-14 days until you do not see activity for 30 days. This is not an instant process and will likely take longer than 3 weeks to eradicate the bugs. The pillows inside of a bag with the Nuvan Prostrips is fine. You will likely need to leave them in longer than 3 weeks though.

    Q
Can Nuvan Strips be used for hanging clothes in a sealed closet?
If I seal my son's closet with duct tape around every opening, can I leave clothes hanging and use Nuvan strips to rid the closet and clothes of any bedbugs? Seems like this would work better than bagging the clothes since vapor could more easily reach everywhere.
    A

Nuvan Prostrips could potentially be used to treat a closet with so long as it is completely sealed up so the vapor cannot escape, and the closet stays sealed up for at least 2 weeks to give enough time for the vapor to penetrate the entire area. Most customers do not do this however as they need items from the closet, or they just wash and dry the clothes hanging like you would clothes in dressers, and then treat the crevices of the closet with a concentrate or dust. Please review  the proper steps needed to eliminate bedbugs in ALL different areas of the home by reviewing our Bed bug Guide.

    Q
Is it possible to use the Nuvan ProStrips in the bedroom temporarily for bedbugs?
I'll be on vacation for about a week and I was hoping to set up the strips in my room before I leave. Would it be safe to occupy the room once I return?
    A

We normally recommend to use Nuvan Strips in small sealed areas or containers. Nuvan Strips work best on items that cannot be treated with liquids like electronics. It would be best advised to first review our Bed Bug Guide. It takes more than one product to eliminate bed bugs. We advise to use one of our effective Bed Bug Kits.

    Q
Can you use Nuvan Pro Strips along with the Roach Control Kit A to combat roaches?
We would like to use the Nuvan Strips to treat the home while it is sealed, completely, for 7 days. Following the 7 days we intend to air out the home areas for 72 hours before cleaning, then reoccupying the space. Would this be safe or not recommended?
    A

    Q
If I seal the packet as well as I can, is there a shelf life limit for Nuvan strips?
I would be using them to quarantine items purchased from flea markets and thrift stores before using them. Electronics, electric guitars, things like that. I might take a year to get through a package.
    A

Nuvan ProStrips are best when used within 4 months of opening the pouch.  The foil packet may be resealed to prolong the useful life of unused Nuvan Prostrips. However, if not thoroughly sealed, the useful life of the remaining strips may be diminished.
