    Q
How to use Talstar P and NyGuard IGR for general pest control including mosquitoes.
Hi. I want to mix Talstar and NyGuard for general pest control including mosquitos. I saw on this site that you recommend 3ml to a 1 gal Talstar (1oz) solution for fleas. But another website I visited said 4-8ml of NyGuard per gallon Talstar (1oz) solution for mosquitos. I'm trying to control a broad range, especially spiders and mosquitos. Which ratio should I use?
    A

Per the Nyguard IGR product label instructions you can use varying rates.  You use anywhere between 4 ml - 12 ml per gal and then apply over 1000 - 1500 sqft.  Talstar is mixed at 1 oz/gal and that generally covers 1000 sqft so when mixing with the NyGuard IGR you would want to use 3 ml up to 8 ml with that 1 gallon of Talstar.  In general your first application should use the higher rates.

    Q
Is NyGuard EZ1 better than Gentrol IGR for a carpet beetle infestation?
Is NyGuard EZ1 the same as NyGuard IGR? Just in a smaller size? Does it work better than Gentrol IGR for carpet beetles? Thanks.
    A
Nyguard EZ 1 is the same product as Nyguard IGR just in a smaller 1 oz container. Both Gentrol IGR and Nyguard IGR are labeled for carpet beetles and both products will provide similar results. Be sure to thoroughly vacuum all carpeting to help speed up the elimination process. It will also be necessary for you to find and eliminate the source of the carpet beetle infestation for best results.

It can take several weeks to see any roaches with crinkled wings. They will have to attempt to molt as they grow and after the molt you will see the deformity.

  • Asked by Lillian from Chicago, Illinois

    Q
Is Nyguard EZ1 effective for a mite infestation in my car?
I need to know if this product will be effective and how to use it. Also, how long will the product take before it take care of the problem?
    A
Nyguard EZ1 is not labeled for mites and we do not think it would work for your needs. Nyguard EZ1 is an insect growth regulator and when applied according to the product label it can help control the reproductive cycle of insects such as cockroaches, fleas, mosquitoes, ants and other listed pests. Many species of mites can be very hard to get rid of and treatments can takes several months but our customers have reported very positive results when using a product called Sterifab in conjunction with regular vacuuming.

    Q
Can Nyguard be mixed with other IGRs?
    A
Nyguard can be mixed with any insecticide for application; however, we would not recommend mixing it with another IGR.  There really would be no need to do so.

    Q
How long is NyGuard EZ1 safe to store it in the sprayer?
I have had this for a bit but haven't been able to use it because I read that you shouldn't store it for a long time in the bottle, after you have mixed it with water. Since I'm not sure how long it will take me to treat an entire house, with all of the furniture moves I know will be involved, I've been hesitating to just go ahead and mix it and do it a room at a time, because I know that this method may not get the treatment done correctly to deal with the fleas properly. Is there a recommended time frame that I can safely store it for a short period in, or do I really have to use the entire bottle all at once?
    A

Once mixed,  NyGuard EZ1 should be used within 24 hours.  Unmixed solution should be stored in a termperature controlled environment and out of direct sunlight.

    Q
    2nd Question for NyGuard EZ1!
So my 2nd question is, how does someone properly dispose of any remaining product without introducing it into drinking water supply or waterways or anything? Where would any remaining product need to be taken? Secondly, if after a few months the carpet gets shampooed, does the carpet cleaning water need to be disposed of in the same way?
    A

Any leftover solution of NyGuard EZ1 can be poured out outside along the foundation of the home or you can spray along the foundation to help with insects outside.  The product does not reconstitute later if the carpet is shampooed so you can dispose of the dirty water as you normally would.

    Q
How often can NyGuard EZ1 be sprayed for roaches?
    A

Per the product label: one treatment works for 6 months against hatching cockroaches. Please keep in mind that NyGuard EZ1 does not kill any roaches so it should not be used alone. It will only prevent the young from maturing into reproducing adults. We would recommend using one of our Roach Control Kits instead for the best results. Please take a moment to read over our Roach Treatment Guide for further tips and information.

  • Asked by Maggie from Sarasota, Florida

    Q
Can I mix Nyguard EZ1 with Orange Guard? If so, what would the ratio be?
I use Orange Guard because it is non -toxic for pets and humans. I don't know how I would mix this together. I also have Ortho Home Defense that I use outside. I would rather not use that in the house.
    A

Nyguard EZ1 can be mixed with any insecticide for application, and would be used at a rate of 1-2 oz per gallon of water depending on the pest you are treating. That gallon of finished solutuon would cover 1000-1500 sq.ft. Please see the product label for further instructions.

  • Asked by Toni from Canon City, Co
    01/16/2019
    Q
How good is NyGuard EZ1 for killing german roaches in a restaurant?
    A

NyGuard EZ1 does not kill any roaches so should not be used alone.  It will only prevent the young from maturing into reproducing adults.

Nothing can replace a good sanitation system so be sure that the restaurant, especially the kitchen, is being cleaned thoroughly as often as possible. We would still recommend reading over the guide here. Patience is key when it comes to a roach control treatment, be sure to follow the labels when using insecticides to get the best results and eliminating other food sources is important so they can eat the bait. We would recommend mopping with Nibor-D, it has been a tremendous help with restaurant owners.

How to treat for roaches in a restaurant:
When dealing with roaches, treatments should be limited to cracks, crevices and wall voids as this is where roaches spend most of their time. Using a combination of roach bait, insecticide, and an insect growth regulator will usually be needed.

    • Apply roach baits such as Avert Dry Flowable or MaxForce FC Magnum in cracks or crevices where roach feces have been found.

    • Apply an insecticide dust such as Delta Dust , or an insecticide foam, into wall voids where plumbing pipes exist and in wall voids behind stoves or dishwashers. These walls are most likely to have cockroaches hiding inside because of the humidity provided by the pipes.

    • Liquid insecticides combined with insect growth regulators will also offer some control. Phantom and Nyguard EZ1 are labeled to spray in food handling establishments for roach control. (ALWAYS READ PRODUCT LABELS BEFORE APPLICATION) Precaution should be used when applications are being performed. Apply in cracks and crevice at low pressure setting, being extremely careful not to splash or allow runoff that could potentially contaminate food prep surfaces. Protective barrier applications of insecticides such as Talstar P or Alpine WSG should be made on a regular basis on the outside of structure to exclude insects from entering.
