NyGuard EZ1 - Questions & Answers

When applying NyGuard EZ1 or any other product as a fog/spray, we recommend following guidance on SDS for PPE. It is recommended to wear a respirator mask. 

Yes, NyGuard EZ1 can be applied after you have applied Ortho's Home Defense. 

Yes, NyGuard EZ1 is labeled to be used on carpets for flea control at the mix rate of 1fl oz of NyGuard EZ1 with 1 gallon of water per 1500 sq ft area.  

Prior to treating per the product label, carpets, draperies and upholstered furniture should be vacuumed thoroughly and the vacuum cleaner bag disposed of in an outdoor trash receptacle. Remove pets from area to be treated. Treat all areas that may harbor fleas, such as carpets, furniture, pet sleeping areas and throw rugs. Treat under cushions of upholstered furniture. After treatment, do not allow children and pets into treated areas until spray has dried. 

You can mix NyGuard EZ1 with any insecticide labeled for roaches, such as Temprid FX Insecticide, for application. We would recommend incorporating a roach bait gel to help implement a successful roach control treatment indoors. Please take a moment to read over our Roach Treatment Guide for further tips and information.

The NyGuard product label does say you must keep the product out of lakes, streams, ponds and other bodies of water. You may need to apply NyGuard IGR using a sprayer set on a heavy/coarse spray so that the droplets will be heavy enough not drift into the body of water. You can use the fogger to make applications of the IGR in other places where drift will not be a concern.

NyGuard EZ1 does not kill any roaches so should not be used alone.  It will only prevent the young from maturing into reproducing adults.  

Nothing can replace a good sanitation system so be sure that the restaurant, especially the kitchen, is being cleaned thoroughly as often as possible. We would still recommend reading over the guide here. Patience is key when it comes to a roach control treatment, be sure to follow the labels when using insecticides to get the best results and eliminating other food sources is important so they can eat the bait. We would recommend mopping with Nibor-D, it has been a tremendous help with restaurant owners.

How to treat for roaches in a restaurant:
When dealing with roaches, treatments should be limited to cracks, crevices and wall voids as this is where roaches spend most of their time. Using a combination of roach bait, insecticide, and an insect growth regulator will usually be needed.  

• Apply roach baits such as Avert Dry Flowable or MaxForce FC Magnum in cracks or crevices where roach feces have been found.
   
• Apply an insecticide dust such as Delta Dust , or an insecticide foam, into wall voids where plumbing pipes exist and in wall voids behind stoves or dishwashers. These walls are most likely to have cockroaches hiding inside because of the humidity provided by the pipes.
   
• Liquid insecticides combined with insect growth regulators will also offer some control. Phantom and Nyguard EZ1 are labeled to spray in food handling establishments for roach control. (ALWAYS READ PRODUCT LABELS BEFORE APPLICATION) Precaution should be used when applications are being performed. Apply in cracks and crevice at low pressure setting, being extremely careful not to splash or allow runoff that could potentially contaminate food prep surfaces. Protective barrier applications of insecticides such as Talstar P or Alpine WSG should be made on a regular basis on the outside of structure to exclude insects from entering.

We would recommend thoroughly cleaning and vacuuming the vehicle first and then applying Maxforce FC Roach Bait Stations or Advion Roach Bait Arenas. The roaches would eat the bait and share it with the other roaches and this will help eliminate the infestation.

While NyGuard can be safely used with Fenvastar and other insecticides, NyGuard is not labeled for reproductive control of bed bugs. The only IGR on the market that is labeled for and shown success for bedbugs is Gentrol IGR.

NyGuard IGR can be mixed with Spectracide. Let us know if you have any more questions.

NyGuard EZ1? is not labeled to treat for bedbugs. We recommend if you are wanting to add and Insect Growth Regulator to use Gentrol IGR. ?Gentrol IGR? is mixed 1oz per gallon of water. We do not recommend to apply Permthrin indoors at all or for bed bugs. We recommend using one of our Bed Bug kits. It really takes more than one product to eradicate bed bugs. This is why we have specially put our kits together.

NyGuard EZ1 may have a slight odor, but that likely would dissipate after application as the product dries. 

You are correct and we apologize if you were given the wrong information.  NyGuard EZ1 is not labeled to treat for bedbugs. We recommend if you are wanting to add and Insect Growth Regulator to use Gentrol IGR. Gentrol IGR is mixed 1oz per gallon of water. You are able to mix your liquid insecticide and IGR together in a 1 gallon sprayer and apply at the same time.

You want to mix 1oz NyGuard EZ1 per gallon water. You can mix this with 1oz Bifen into 1 gallon water. 

NyGuard EZ1 can be mixed with Cyonara to treat for carpet beetles when used as directed. Please visit our Carpet Beetle control page for great tips.

When using products such as NyGuard EZ1 and Talstar, we recommend that you read and follow the label instructions. NyGuard EZ1 and Talstar can be mixed together but Talstar is not labeled to be broadcasted, it is only to be used around baseboards, cracks and crevices. Also, we wouldn't recommend using either product on objects such as toys. 

NyGuard EZ 1 concentrate does not carry ticks on the product label. However, if you need to treat for ticks indoors, then you can use NyGuard Plus, a ready-to-use product that is labeled for ticks in general, which would include brown dog ticks. For a concentrate that is labeled for ticks, you could use Archer IGR. We apologize for any confusion.
