    Q
How does the product react to freezing temperatures over the winter months?
    A
The Onslaught Insecticide should be stored at moderate temperatures and shouldn't freeze. However, if freezing should occur then dethaw at room temperature. Do not heat to speed up the dethaw process. It is hard to say whether the Onslaught Insecticide needs to be replaced besides decreased efficiency.

    Q
Is Onslaught Insecticide the best product for chiggers in our yard?
    A

Onslaught is a great product for chigger control. Treatments for chiggers should begin in April/May and could need to continue through the summer as new chiggers move into the area. Treating the entire lawn is of little benefit because chiggers avoid direct sunlight and normally will not infest areas that are mowed or otherwise well maintained. Focus treatment on the unkempt areas of the lawn and lawn edge. You can also use Onslaught to do a barrier treatment around the outside of your home and in your crawl space to stop pests from moving indoors.

    Q
is there a liquid product I can use in a hose applicator to kill yellow jackets?
    A
Onslaught is a great product for control of yellow jackets. You could apply it via a hose-end sprayer. It should be diluted 1oz per gallon of water. Another great way to treat for yellow jackets is by applying an insecticidal dust such as Tempo to their nest. Night time is the best time to treat because that is when yellow jackets are less active.

    Q
I live in south Texas and have a bad problem with Leaf Cutter Ants. Is Onslaught good for this?
    A
Onslaught will only kill the leaf cutter ants that come incontact with the treated areas. Leaf cutter ants can have very large colonies, making it difficult to eliminate. We recommend using Maxforce Complete Granular Bait. Maxforce Complete contains hydramethylnon which is effective, though they will usually eliminate only about 30% of a large colony in one treatment and will need to be reapplied several times.  Deltagard granules   would also be a recommended product. The product label recommends treating the mound directly and lightly watering the granules in.

    Q
Can we spray Onslaught Insecticide around infants?
    Child 3 months old
    A

Onslaught is safe to use in a home where children reside as long as you apply it according to the label and the children are out of the area while the product is applied, until it has dried. There are no extra precautions that need to be taken before re-entry.

    Q
In my home i have biting midges and tons of larva what would i use to kill larvae?
I have been using 565 plus xlo does great but i have so much larva in everything ,carpet, cabinets.,furniture i need something long lasting or what else can i use with the spray?
    A
Biting midges do generally not enter structures, but midges are small enough to get through 16 mesh screens. Getting mesh screens with a higher number can keep these and other very tiny insects out of your home. Since non-biting midges are attracted to lights, draw your shades at night and wait as long as possible to turn on exterior lights to keep them away from your home. Onslaught is a liquid insecticide labeled for midges and can be used inside and outside the home. Spraying Onslaught on window screens, doors, bushes, and plants around your home can act as midge repellant to keep midges away. Inside the home we recommend thoroughly vacumming the entire home. Dispose of the contents immediately in trash bag and take outside. Apply 1oz of Onslaught per gallon of water as a coarse, wet spray to surfaces where these pests are normally found. Treat floors, baseboards, around doors and windows, in attics, crawl spaces, eaves, corners, closets, walls, utility pipes, storage areas, and all cracks and crevices. Treat underneath sinks, dishwashers, refrigerators, stoves, the underside of shelves, drawers, cabinets, areas behind pipes, and in all places where these insects shelter. Contact as many insects as possible with direct spray. Repeat applications as needed, but do not exceed more than one application every seven days. Continue to vacuum daily in between treatments.

  • Asked by Jerry
    08/02/2011
    Q
How long until I see results from Onslaught?
I sprayed onslaught around the kitchen baseboards last night for ants that were coming from under the foundation. They are small and really slow. I believe they are regular house ants. There are even more ants today. How long will it take for this insecticide to work? It doesn't seem like it helped.
    A
Onslaught is a micro-encapsulated product which means it is a time released formula and can take a little longer to kill insects than other products. Ants can take several hours to a day or so before they die after coming into contact with treated areas. Onslaught will not stop ants from coming into an area but it will kill the ants that do. Onslaught does not transfer back to the colony. We always recommend that you use an ant bait gel or granule in addition to the insecticide spray since ant colonies can be very large and they can keep sending out worker ants. The bait will be carried back to the colony and fed to the other ants and this will help speed up the ant elimination. We also recommend spraying outdoors around the perimeter of your home to eliminate ants before they move indoors.

    Q
Will Onslaught help with suspected rat mites in my attic as well as bedroom?
I've gone through two exterminator companies and I didn't get a lot of help. According to one company there were bird mites in my home. I found that there is rats in my home and at night I feel jumping or crawling on my body when I go to sleep. I've tried going to the professionals and that didn't help. So since I'm assuming I have rats mites I know I need to get rid of the rats, seal the holes where the rats get in from and find the nest where the rats live after that. What can I use for my attic and home as well as my mattress and clothing to apart for the mites ?
    A

Onslaught will kill mites in general, but the problem with mites is finding the breeding source.  Onslaught may provide some relief, however many times mites will breed under carpet or in wall voids, where you cannot spray.  This is why treating for mites is very difficult and usually requires multiple products and lots of vacuuming.

You can apply monthly on the exterior of the structure for control but the nesting sites that are near the structure should be removed to fully eliminate them. The source of the infestation is very important and is the key to getting rid of the mites for good. Thoroughly apply as a fine particle broadcast spray using a hand pump sprayer to infested rugs and carpets and other cracks and crevices around the perimeter of each room. Put all clothes through the dryer on high heat to help kill mites and their eggs. We have had many customers use the above recommendations with great success. Most customers report that it can take several months to get rid of all of the mites.

    Q
Can I use Onslaught Insecticide to spray indoors on carpet?
    A

Treating carpets for general pests is not needed.  Only when you are dealing with a pest like fleas that infest carpets would you need to do so.  For general pest control, treatments should be directed to cracks and crevices inside as you should also apply a barrier outside around the perimeter.  We have a great video here that shows where to spray for perimeter and interior spraying.  Onslaught is a great option for them and is labeled for over 200 pests.

    Q
Should I use Suspend SC or Talstar P to treat for rat mites?
I have already sealed up entry points into attic and have trapped the rats, but I still have rat mites in my home and want to know if Suspend SC or Talstar P is better for spraying around the inside and outside of the home?
    A

If this has been an ongoing problem we would first recommend to get the pest identified by an entomologist. If it's recent and you've had the pest identified, then we would recommend that you use Onslaught Insecticide. Onslaught is specifically labeled for mites.  You will use 0.5 oz per gallon of water around baseboards and cracks and crevices. Before your application, it is strongly recommended to thoroughly clean and vacuum the areas of activity first.

    Q
Is Onslaught Insecticide good for clothes moths in carpet?
    A
Yes. Onslaught is labeled for clothes moths and works very well for this pest. It is very important to find the source(s) of the clothes moths and thoroughly clean the item or dispose of it entirely. Failure to do so will lead to re-infestation as the larva will usually remain hidden and continue to develop into adults.
