  • Asked by Brandon from Tulsa,ok

    Q
Can I use Permethrin Granules to kill the food source of moles?
Will this eliminate grubs and earth worms from the soil in my yard?
    A
Permethrin Granules is labeled to eradicate grubs which is a food source for moles. If earthworms come into contact with the area treated area, they will be effected the same way other insects will be effected. Typically earthworms tend to stay several inches below the surface and remain hidden away from insecticide applications but if they do end up surfacing in treated areas they will be eliminated. For the most part insecticides are not selective.

Is Permethrin Granules - 25 lb. Bag waterproof? How does it compare with Deltagard granules? Is this sold in CT?
    A
Permethrin Granules need to be watered in to be activated. After the application has been watered in and allowed to dry it will be rain fast. Since Deltagard and Permethrin Granules are both synthetic pyrethroids they are very comparable. Permethrin Granules can be shipped to CT.

  • Asked by Oma from Baton Rouge, La

    Q
Can I use Permethrin Granules to treat for lizards?
    A

Since Lizards are considered a beneficiai pest, there is not a product label to "kill" them. The best treatment is to use a product to eliminate their food source, insects. Permethrin Granules are labeled for a broad spectrum of pests and provides a good contact kill. Another general purpose granular for the yard and/or concentrate for the perimeter of the house is most ideal. Talstar is a great general purpose product and comes in both granular or concentrate. Follow the application label.

    Q
    Does Permethrin Granules kill chiggers?
I've been getting chigger bites. Even after treatment with a Spectracide that is supposed to kill chiggers. I've used several products and still get the bites.
    A

Permethrin Granules are not specifically labeled to treat chiggers. Onslaught insecticide is labeled for chiggers and can be used both indoors and outdoors as a broadcast spray. Treatments for chiggers should begin in May and could need to continue through the summer as new chiggers move into the area. Treating the entire lawn is of little benefit because chiggers avoid direct sunlight and normally will not infest areas that are mowed or otherwise well maintained. Focus treatment on the unkempt areas of the lawn and lawn edge. You can also use Onslaught to do a barrier treatment around the outside of your home and in your crawl space to stop pests from moving indoors.

    Q
Can Permethrin Granules be spread under an above-ground pool deck to control wasps and yellow jackets?
Since wasps and yellow jackets go underground during the cold months, can this product be spread under the deck on the ground to control these pests before it gets warmer and they begin to build their nests?
    A

Yes, Permethrin Granules can be applied under the pool deck of an above ground pool as long as they are watered in according to the product label. You will likely still need other control measures if wasps should become active in that area since this would not last through the winter months.

  • Asked by April from Spring Hill, Tn
    06/18/2021
    Q
Are Permethrin Granules safe to use around chickens?
We are having a mite infestation on our new property and we have chickens. They are getting into their scales on their legs. Should I use granules or concentrate to treat around the run and which for the yard as they free range at times?
    A

It is recommended that you remove your animals from the area until the Permethrin Granules have been watered in and the product is completely dried. Also, we would not recommend using this product within 3 feet of water. Keep in mind that this product is only labeled for clover mites and not for poultry mites. You may consider using Onslaught Insecticide instead, which is labeled for mites in general and for use in and around poultry housing.

Whether you use granule or concentrate, you will have to remove all animals from application area and they cannot come back until the area is completely dry.

  • Asked by Patsy from Bartlett
    06/18/2021
    Q
How soon after application do Permethrin Granules need to be watered?
Is this from a good rain or with a hose?
    A

As stated on the product label of Permethrin Granules, "To protect the environment, do not allow pesticide to enter or run off into storm drains, drainage ditches, gutters or surface waters. Applying this product in calm weather when rain is not predicted for the next 24 hours will help to ensure that wind or rain does not blow or wash pesticide off the treatment area,."

"Three Easy Steps to Use this Product:
Step #1: Determine size of the job, measure the area to be treated.
Step #2: Use spreader setting chart to determine appropriate setting for your spreader.
Step #3: Treat as directed in rate chart. Thorough coverage is important. Water in granules where indicated."

Watering the product in may be done by irrigation such as by a hose as long as you are following the instructions on the product label for the pest that you are targeting. We would not recommend watering in by rain.

    Q
How many sq ft will a 25lb bag of Permethrin Granules treat for armyworms? What is the correct rate per 1000 sq ft?
Having call backs from customers saying they still have armyworms when using 1 x 25lb bag per 12,500 sq ft.
    A

The product page states that a 10lb bag of Permethrin Granules can treat up to 5,000 sq. ft. A 25 lbs bag can treat up to 12,500 sq. ft. For armyworms, you will use 2 lbs per 1,000 sq. ft. unless you have St. Augustine grass in which case you will need to use 3 lbs per 1,000 sq. ft. Please review the product label for application instructions.
