    Q
what is the importance of the .5% and 1% rate ratio?
please explain ,I don't understand. thank you
    A
The rate you use will depend on where you are spraying, and what level of infestation you have. The lower rate is normally used for preventative/light infestations. The higher rate is normally used when you have a decently heavy problem and you want to eliminate it from inside and outside the home.

  • Asked by Felix from Macon, Ga
    02/22/2015
    Q
Can you spray Permethrin SFR directly on you and how to mix to treat your yard and dogs?
    A
Permethrin SFR cannot be used on humans in any way but the product label does give instructions for using on dogs as a flea and tick dip.  Please refer to the product label for complete instructions.
For Lawns: Mix 0.4 - 0.8 fl oz of Permethrin in 4 to 25 gallons of water per 1000 sqft, use the higher rate for faster knockdown and increased residual control. Dense or excessive (greater than 3 inches) lawn height and arid conditions may require higher volume application rates. Repeat application if necessary.

According to the Permethrin SFR product label you will mix ¼ fl. oz. of concentrate to 1 pt. water and use 1-2 fl. oz. of dilution to spray on each animal. Spot treat back, face, legs tail and ears. If you would like to "dip" the dogs you will use ¼ fl. oz. to 1¼ gallons water and thoroughly wet the dog to the skin with sponge or rag. Let drip dry.

  • Asked by Kevin from Malvern,ar
    03/17/2015
    Q
Can you apply Permethrin SFR directly to a dog i.e. on shoulder blades, back & tail area like the spot on flea?
    A

Yes, Permethrin SFR is labeled to be used directly on animals. Please check the label for specific instructions on how to apply to your dog. This product is not labeled for cats.

We do have ZoGuard Plus for Dogs that is labeled for fleas. Invert one tube over dog and use open end to part dog's hair. Squeeze tube firmly to apply all of the solution to the dog's skin as a spot on the dog's back between the shoulder blades. Use entire contents of tube vial on each dog. Do not use multiple tubes on one dog. Weigh your dog to be sure you are applying the right dose formulated for the weight of your dog. Separate the treated dog from all other dogs and cats for 24 hours after treatment has been applied.

  • Asked by Mike from Willards, Maryland

    Q
Why is this product unsafe to spray on clothes, yet you can spray it directly on dogs & horses?
Several of the answers imply this product is not safe for human skin (even after drying on clothing), but you can DIP dogs in it, and spray it directly on horses??? What exactly makes this so dangerous to humans, yet so benign to all other mammals?
    A
The formulation of Permethrin SFR is different from the products that can be used on clothing. The manufacturer did extensive testing on all of the ways this product can be used. If it is not on the label, we would not recommend using it that way. The active ingredient in the amount of solution being used on dogs and/or horses is safe per the regulations given so that is why it is labeled to be used on them.

  • Asked by Jacki from Park Hill, Ok
    08/24/2015
    Q
Does the diluted Permethrin SFR kill headlice, and if so, is it safe for my children to be around?
    A

Permethrin SFR is only labeled for use on livestock such as horses and cattle as well as other animals for lice and would not be used for headlice. It is safe when used as directed on the product label.

You could use Bedlam which is labeled for adult lice and nymphs. You would be apply to cracks and crevices around the room.

In areas you cannot apply Bedlam you can use Sterifab. It will only kill those insects that you make direct contact with.  Sterifab is the product we would recommend for use on upholstered furniture and mattresses and other places around your home. Anything that can be washed in the washer and dryer should be treated in that way.

For treatment on humans, you would need to contact your doctor or pharmacist for the best recommendation.

  • Asked by Carlos from Brownsville, Texas

    Q
Should I use Permethrin SFR to treat ticks inside and out of the house?
I am currently using Permethrin SFR but I am still seeing ticks. Is there anything else that you would recommend that I can use for indoor and outdoor tick control?
    A

Permethrin SFR would be a great choice for indoor and outdoor tick control. We would also recommend adding an insect growth regulator such as Archer IGR in addition to the Permethrin to stop the ticks from being able to reproduce while you are trying to eliminate the infestation. Please see our Tick Treatment Guide for more information about this pest.

  • Asked by Charles from Danville, Al

    Q
What is the mixing rate for Permethrin 36.8% for ant mounds?
    A

We recommend using 1 2/3 fl. oz of Permethrin SFR 36.8% per gallon of water for ant mounds. Apply 1-2 gallons of emulsion to each mound area by sprinkling the mound until it is wet and treat a 4 foot diameter circle around the mound. Use the higher volume for mounds larger than 12". For best results, apply in cool weather, such as in early morning or late evening hours, but not in the heat of the day

  • Asked by Steve from Tumacacori, Az.
    07/03/2016
    Q
Will a surfactant increase the effectiveness of Permethrin SFR 36.8%?
I recently bought Permethrin SFR for various ants and it is working. Since the most recent rain we have had fire ants pop up everywhere and so I was wondering if a surfactant would make SFR even more effective. I am pleased so far with the results, just want even more fire power if possible. Also sometimes it rains soon after I spray so maybe it would stick better with a surfactant.
    A

Yes, a surfactant can be used with Permethrin SFR 36.8% to help it stick better and increase effectiveness.  Hi-Yield Spreader Sticker would be a good choice.  You can find our other surfactants here as well.

    Q
What does it mean apply using 4 - 25 gallons of spray volume on the Permethrin SFR 36.8% label?
Is this talking about the size of the sprayer? If I am applying .5oz/gal/1000sqft of permethrin SFR to my lawn, then a 4 gallon sprayer will cover 4000sqft - right?
    A

You don't state what pest you are treating for in your lawn however, when using Permethring SFR 36.8% in your lawn the most common rate used would be .8 oz per gallon of water per 1000 sq. ft. When it states using 4-25 gallons of spray volume, it is telling you to be sure that you are getting a complete coverage for the area that you are treating. So if it takes you 1 gallon of water to treat the 1000 sq. ft evenly then you would use the .8 in 1 gallon. Should it take you 2.5 gallons you would use the .8oz in 2.5 gallons of water to cover that 1000 sq. ft evenly.

What is the mixing ratio of Permethrin SFR 36.8% for ticks?

  • Asked by Shane from Houston, Texas
    07/26/2018
    Q
Do u have product to kill Pine Bark / Tree Boring Beetles in the tree?
These have overwhelmed several of my trees in 6 months - a year, then they move to an adjacent tree and weaken it and finally overwhelmed it until all foliage turns brown and fall. Then the bark begins to separate and limbs start to fall in the months after that.
    A

Pine bark beetles are hard to control as they get into the veins of the trees. If infected it’s best to take the tree down and chip it.  Permethrin SFR 36.8% is labeled for bark beetles. The mixing ratio is 1 2/3 fl. oz per gallon of water. It is recommended that you spray the bark on the tree but not to the point of runoff. Permethrin will also help protect other trees from becoming infected.

    A

When applying Permethrin SFR 36.8%, you can chose any rate between 0.4-0.8 oz.  Regardless of the rate you chose, you will still use it in 4-25 gallons of water per 1000 square feet.  The higher rate of 0.8 oz is used for quicker knock down and longer residual.

    Q
Does mopping with common bleach decompose Permethrin SFR (after 2 days of applying it)?
    A

We recommend reapplying Permethrin SFR to the cracks and crevices where you applied the bleach solution after it dries for this situation. For future applications, you will want to mop or steam prior to application to avoid residual removal.
