    Q
How soon will the smell dissipate after spraying with Permethrin SFR 36.8% ?
    A

Depending on the mix ratio used and how heavily you sprayed, it could be anywhere from just as the product has has had time to dry, or several hours after application before the smell of the Permethrin SFR completely goes away. If the odor is objectionable, then you may want to consider switching to a water-based insecticide, rather than an oil-based one. You may contact our Customer Service staff at 866-581-7378 M-F 9a-5p for further assistance selecting an alternative product.

    Q
I did wash my clothes in Permethrin SFR 36.8%, how many washes does it take to remove the chemical?
I used this process before, it worked in destroying fleas in my clothes a few years ago. can't I just wash the clothes for about 10 to 20 batches and remove the permethrin SFR?
    A

Because Permethrin SFR is not labeled for use on clothing or other items that would contact skin, we are not able to give an exact recommendation as to how many washings would deem the fabrics safe for wear, if at all. A small amount of product could be washed, however, something like full strength product would persist longer, and we would not recommend wearing clothing that had significant chemical residue on it.

  • Asked by Vance from Medina, Tn
    05/26/2016
    Q
Will Permethrin SFR get rid of honey bee colony invading house?
    A

Permethrin SFR is very toxic to bees but will only stick to the surface that it's sprayed on. If the bees don't come in contact with it, it's not effective. If the bees are in the wall void and you're able to spray them directly, it will work but you would have to wear a protective bee suit. Otherwise, we would recommend to hire a professional.

  • Asked by Brian from Lower Merion, Pa
    04/17/2017
    Q
Is Permethrin SFR 36.8 safe for our water supply or will it leach?
What is the half-life of this product? Will it leach and be harmful in our drinking (well) water, pond or streams?
    A

We do not recommend using Permethrin SFR 36.8% within 25 feet of a water source souch as a pond or stream. When using the product topically on the soil surface there should be not be any issues with well water unless your water source is close to the top of the soil. Should you be using this product for a termite treatment within 10 feet of a well we would recommend using the back fill method. Which is dig out the soil and treat the soil, and return it to the area treated not by pouring the product in trenching. Anything within 5 feet of the well we do not recommend using for termite treatments.

  • Asked by Josh from Derry, Nh

    Q
Can I mix Permethrin 36.8%, Biffen XTS, and NyGuard IGR?
Can I combine the Permethrin 36.8%, Biffen XTS, and NyGuard IGR? We live in an area that is very affected by Lyme disease, and I want to make sure my family can play out in the yard without having to worry about ticks.
    A

Two insecticides like Permethrin SFR 36.8% and Bifen XTS should not be mixed together. Creating a pesticide mixture that is too string can backfire, causing insects to avoid the treated ares.  However, NyGuard IGR can be mixed with either of these alone.

    Q
What product would be safe to use in a barn that houses horses and cats?
We have a 3 stall barn that we use to house 2 horses and 2 barn cats. The barn has a dirt floor and is a wooden structure. We are worried about what type of pest control we should use. Can you recommend some? We have treated carpenter bees and wasps using typical products since they are above the ground level of the animals. We also have Lesser Mealworm Beetle/Yellow Mealworm in some part of the barn.
    A
We would recommend Permethrin SFR 36.8% for treatment around livestock and barns.  Permethrin SFR 36.8%, when used as directed on the product label, is safe to use directly on dogs and other animals (Do NOT apply to cats), barns and livestock areas. It is a concentrate you mix with water and apply using a hand pump sprayer.  Please reference the product label for further instructions and complete information.

    Q
How effective is this for bed bugs?
    A
Permethrin SFR is labeled for bedbugs but you will need to use other products in conjunction with the Permethrin SFR to eliminate a bedbug infestation. We offer bedbug kits that contain all of the different products you need to eliminate bedbugs and retreatments should be done every 7-10 days until you do not receive a bite for 30 days.  We also highly recommend using mattress and boxspring encasements to help eliminate bedbug infestations. These bedbug proof covers will trap existing bedbugs and eliminate hiding places and make inspections easier. Please take a few moments to read our BEDBUG GUIDE to learn more about eliminating bedbugs.

  • Asked by Kimberly from Jacksonville, Fl
    01/08/2012
    Q
Is Permethrin SFR 36.8% the product you would recommend for treating the lawn for an active tick problem?
SInce it has a residual effect it should help prevent future tick infestations too? Or is there another product you would recommend? Thanks
    A
Permethrin SFR 36.8% is labeled for ticks in yards and it will offer some residual effects as well. The Permethrin SFR 36.8% product label recommends that you mix the product with a surfactant to help the product better stick to the foliage that you are spraying.  Ticks may be reintroduced from surrounding areas on host animals. Retreatment may be necessary to achieve and/or maintain control during periods of high pest pressure. All of your pets should be treated with a product that is specifically labeled for use on pets for tick control.

You can also help by creating a "tick safe zone" in your yard. You should have an area that is at least 9 ft wide between your yard and any wooded area. Trim back trees to allow as much sunlight as possible into your yard. Keep grass as short. Remove as much leaf litter as possible. A clearly defined, well manicured border between your yard and any wooded areas or weedy lots will reduce the chance of ticks infesting your yard.

    Q
How do I apply Permethrin as a barrier against termite and carpenter ant infestations in the home?
I would like to protect my home against further infestation from carpenter ants and termites. What are the best places to apply the product? Also, how do I apply the product to the interior of the basement and attic to control spiders and silverfish?
    A
Permethrin SFR is not labeled for indoor use. You could use our Carpenter Ant kit that contains Dominion 2L that will treat both termites and carpenter ants, as well as a protein based bait and sweet based bait that can be used indoors where you have seen the ant activity. You can use a product like Tempo SC Ultra indoors to control the spiders, silverfish and more. Please make sure to review the product labels before application.

  • Asked by Mitzi from Maxton,
    07/09/2013
    Q
Can Permethrin be used on wet ground? Do i need to remove my dogs to apply?
    It has rained a lot.
    A
You will want to keep the dogs out of the area while you do the treatment and until the entire treated area has dried. You will also want to make sure it is not going to rain for at least 6 hours after application of the product as well. It is okay for the ground to be a little wet from the rain but the wet ground will make the product take longer to dry. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
