    Q
Should I use Permethrin SFR or Hy-Yield 38 Plus for red ants?
I am having a bad problem with red ants coming inside of my home from under the doors. I am currently using the Talstar granules which kills the ants, but I keep finding dead ants that have come inside.
    A
The Permethrin SFR 36.8% and the Hi-Yield 38% Plus both have the same active ingredient and will give comparable results so either would be a good choice as a barrier spray around the home and door and window frames.

    Q
I'm having a flea infestation would Permethrin SFR 36.8% help and how often should I repeat these treatments?
flea infestation in my back yard...we live a wooded area lot of squirrels and birds. We've applied about 3 weeks ago but still don't seem to see a difference ..we used the 1.0% 5gallons
    A
Permethrin SFR 36.8% would be a great product choice for the treatment indoors and/or outdoors for fleas and ticks. Please add Archer IGR to impede the insects reproductive cylce. The products should be applied once every two weeks. We recommend mowing the lawn one to two days prior to the initial application. A minimum of two applications and up to four depending on the level of fleas. If you need anything else, please let us know.

    Q
    Will this kill grasshoppers?
I am looking to treat 9 acres of pasture for grasshoppers, chiggers and ticks.
    A

No, Permethrin SFR 36.8% is not labeled for grasshoppers or chiggers, but it is labeled for ticks.

We would recommend using Bifen IT. It is labeled for grasshoppers, chiggers and ticks as well as various other pests. It can be broadcast across a lawn but is not labeled for use in pastures.

  • Asked by James from Indianapolis, In
    03/17/2015
    Q
Can Permethrin SFR 36.8% be diluted with water to soak clothes in for tick control while hiking?
Does this have any other active ingredients than permethrin?
    A
Permethrin SFR 36.8% cannot be used on clothing of any type. We do carry Tick Block which was specifically manufactured for use on clothing for tick control. While Tick Block and Permethrin SFR 36.8% share the same active ingredient the base ingredients are very different and the products are not interchangeable. Permethrin SFR 36.8% does contain inert ingredients that are privy to the manufacturer. The inert ingredient part of a product is a trade secret and not disclosed to anybody.

  • Asked by Lillian from Landenberg, Pa

    Q
I want to mix Permethrin with mineral oil to brush on rollers of a 4 poster deer feeding station...
To help reduce tick populations in my area. What ratio should I use to achieve a 10% concentration? Thank you.
    A
Our apologies but we are not able to offer a dilution rate for getting a 10% concentration as the use you are intending is an off label usage of the Permethrin SFR and there are no instructions for mixing at that percentage on the product label.  We would recommend checking with your department of Agricultural for the best advice for controlling deer tick populations around feeding stations.

  • Asked by Joe from Suffolk, Virginia

    Q
What Is The Expected Wait Time Before Permethrin Kills Fleas?
I have applied Permethrin SFR as a broadcast spray inside my home, also mixed with Archer IGR, both per their respective manufacturer's instructions. The solution was sprayed due to a flea infestation that occurred while I was away for business (it is also a 100+ yr old farm house so very susceptible to bugs etc). Are the affects to be expected immediately or after a delay? I have had great success with previous purchases from you guys and have faith this will be the same, just not sure how long I have to wait. Many thanks for your help.
    A
Depending on many factors such as insect type, etc  Permethrin SFR 36.8% can take minutes to hours to kill insects. Permethrin SFR is not labeled to be applied as a broadcast inside. You would want to use Archer mixed with a product like Onslaught labeled for broadcast. Please keep in mind that it can take at least 2 treatments to eradicate fleas. Be sure to keep up with the vacuuming too.

  • Asked by Andrew from Winsted, Minnesota
    06/06/2015
    Q
If Permethrin SFR 36.8% is safe for carpets, why not clothing?
If Permethrin SFR (in a properly diluted effusion) is safe for use on carpets, why is it not safe on clothing? I walk barefoot on carpets. My children have crawled on carpets. From reading MSDSs and FDA pages on Permethrin, human contact is only hazardous prior to it drying (while a liquid or vapor). If applied to clothing that is allowed to dry fully before it is worn, where's the risk? Are your compound's inactive ingredients contact toxins, or are you simply trying to discourage a use that is not formally approved for your formulation?
    A
Permethrin SFR 36.8% is not labeled for use on clothing and is not formulated for such a use. We recommend that you contact the manufacturer for additional safety information. They can be reached at 281-892-2500 (Control Solutions).

How will bleach affect the use of Permethrin SFR 36.8% on the outside of my home?
I need to wash my vinyl and want to use bleach to remove the black stuff. How long between or if rinsed thoroughly? Rinse and let dry the access areas to be applied?
    A

We recommend that you clean the surface first and allow to completely dry prior to applying Permethrin SFR 36.8%, otherwise you will eliminate the residual that the product provides.

  • Asked by Arlyn from Sioux City, Iowa
    01/09/2016
    Q
Can a mist blower be used with Permethrin SFR?
Can a mist blower be used with Permethrin SFR for mosquito control? How long will it be effective?
    A

Permethrin SFR can be used in a mist blower when used as directed on the product label, but it is not labeled for mosquito control. We recommend folks use a product such as Talstar P for a long lasting residual for mosquito control. Talstar cannot be used in a fogger but it can be used in mist blower, hand pump sprayer or a hose end sprayer for mosquito control. Talstar P would need to be applied once a month for mosquito control.

  • Asked by Rick from Archer City, Tx
    08/16/2016
    Q
What is the proper mix of Permethrin SFR 36.8% for fleas in a BONIDE Auto Mix & Spray Sprayer?
    A

You can use PErmethrin SFR in a hose end sprayer as long as it can be calibrated to the required usage rate, though for fleas outside the rate is not set per gallon of water. According to the Permethrin SFR product label: For fleas, ant and ticks in lawns - Mix 0.4 – 0.8 fl. oz. (2.4 - 4.8 tsp) of Permethrin SFR in 4 to 25 gallons of water per 1000 square feet. Use the higher rate for fast knockdown and increased residual control. Dense or excessive (greater than 3 inches) lawn height and arid conditions may require higher volume application rates. Repeat application if necessary. Application in combination with compatible surfactantsor wetting agents may enhance penetration
