Permethrin SFR is only labeled for mosquito control on livestock premises. A better product for mosquito control outdoors is Talstar P and it can be IGR such as Tekko Pro to help sterilize the adults. It is our most popular product for mosquito control and would be a better option. It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water and apply using any hand pump sprayer or backpack sprayer. The key is to apply it to all shrubs, trees, and other foliage around the house or patio where you are trying to provide relief. It should be directed not only on top of the leaves and plants, but on the underside of the leaves as well, which is where the mosquitoes like to hang out. It should be applied every 30 days for optimum control.
Bengal Roach Spray is a permethrin based product that is only labeled for roaches. Permethrin SFR 36.8% can be used on livestock only to help control scabies mites. It cannot be used on humans or in residential areas to control scabies mites. We do not offer products for scabies mites in residential areas.
Permethrin SFR is labeled for termites but only as a perimeter treatment around the outside of your home, in a trench. A better option would be Termidor FOAM. You would have to drill holes into the cabinets to inject it into the galleries the termites have created for it to expand through their tunnels and reach them. Please see our Termite Guide for more information.
Permethrin SFR 36.8% is labeled for applications to peach trees at ¼ to ¾ tsp. per 1 gallon of water. Do not harvest fruit within 14 days after application. Do not apply more than 60 fl oz per acre per year.
You should choose one or the other. Bifen IT and Permethrin SFR should not be mixed together and there is no valid reason to do so.
How long Permethrin SFR 36.8% takes to dry can vary depending on factors like how heavily it was applied and the humidity level in the area. In general, it will take a couple of hours to dry completely.
Permethrin SFR 36.8% should be used within 24 hours of mixing with water.
Yes you can use Permethrin SFR on your dog. You should use ¼ fl. oz of product to 1¼ gallons water then thoroughly wet the animal to the skin with sponge or rag. Let drip dry. You can find these instructions on page 16 of the Permethrin SFR product label? which we have linked in this answer for your convenience but is always available on the Permrthrin SFR product page. The manufacturer has taken in consideration that dogs will lick etc. You can apply a cone collar to prevent the dog from licking the treated fur.
Unfortunately there is no easy solution when it comes to pine beetles/borers. Infected trees should be cut down (before the newly hatched beetles fly out of the trees in the spring/summer) and the wood burned or chipped, while other still healthy trees should be sprayed annually to protect them. Because of the natural boring behavior of the beetle they are protected from topically applied insecticides and systemic insecticides (those injected into the tree or applied as a root drench) have proven ineffective for pine beetle infestations. Healthy trees can be protected before the beetles attack by topically spraying them with either Permethrin SFR or Bifen XTS. The tree should be sprayed from the ground to 15 ft up the trunk to prevent future infestations. You should contact your local cooperative extension office to find out the best time to start spraying in your region.
Permethrin SFR 36.8% is labeled for powderpost beetles. Please refer to page 25 for complete instructions for application. Our most popular product for treating this pest is Bora-Care. Bora-Care? should be used to treat powderpost beetles on raw wood. It should be mixed at a 1:1 ratio and can be applied by spraying or painting the wood. Please refer to the product label for full mixing and application instructions.
Permethrin SFR is not labeled for general mosquito control so we do not recommend it for this use. We usually recommend using Talstar P? for mosquito control and it can be used with an IGR such as Nyguard IGR to help sterilize the adults. (Exciter is a pyrethrum which causes a faster kill but it is not an IGR).
To treat fleas in lawns, you will use 0.4–0.8 oz. (2.4 - 4.8 tsp) of Permethrin SFR in 4 to 25 gallons of water per 1000 square feet.
Per the product label, when treating for termites, you will use the 0.5% solution rate, which is 1 2/3 oz. of Permethrin SFR per gallon of water.
Permethrin SFR? should not be used on pastures where horses or any livestock graze and grass cannot be consumed after dried. Very few products are listed as safe to use in grazing areas. Essentria All Purpose is one of our top products that will not harm the animals and will cover all the same insects the Permethrin SFR covers on its label.
Unfortunately, if Permethrin SFR 36.8% comes in contact with any edible vegetation it should be considered contaminated and should be discarded. It would be unsafe for consumption.
Permethrin SFR 36.8% is not labeled to treat any type of carpet moth and will not kill any eggs. You may read our How to Get Rid of Clothes Moths Article for identification and treatment tips. We would also recommend consulting with the local cooperative extension office in your county for a positive ID.
In order to treat successfully for Clothes Moths, something like the ProPest Clothes Moth Traps would need to be used with a crack and crevice insectide like Suspend SC or aerosol like Cy-Kick CS. Suspend SC can also be used for Carpet Beetle control and is applied the same way, as a crack and crevice spray. Please read our How to Get Rid of Clothes Moths for full details on products and treament applications.
We would recommend using Permethrin SFR 36.8% at the rate of 1 2/3 oz. per gallon water for ticks. It would also be a good idea to incorporate an insect growth regulator (IGR) such as Archer IGR for complete control of ticks. All of these products are pet safe if used as directed. Pets need to be kept out of the area being treated during application and until everything is completely dry.
Please look over our Tick Control Guide for more information on treating and preventing this pest.
Permethrin SFR 36.8% can be shipped to you in New York only if you have a PCO license. Please see our see our New York Pest Control page for products that are available to ship to New York without a license.
Permethrin SFR 36.8% is applieid at 0.4-0.8 fl oz to 4-25 gallons of water per 1,000 sq ft for applications to lawns for ticks. Please see our Tick Treatment Guide for more information about this pest.
According to the Permethrin SFR product label you will mix ¼ fl. oz. of concentrate to 1 pt. water and use 1-2 fl. oz. of dilution to spray on each animal. Spot treat back, face, legs tail and ears. If you would like to "dip" the dogs you will use ¼ fl. oz. to 1¼ gallons water and thoroughly wet the dog to the skin with sponge or rag. Let drip dry.
