Permethrin SFR 36.8% - Questions & Answers

When applying Permethrin SFR 36.8% as a flea/tick dip to dogs you are using a lower rate of the product making it safer for contact.  It is still advised to try to prevent them licking themselves until dry if possible just to prevent ingest while wet.

Permethrin SFR 36.8% should only be used around the perimeter of hard floor rooms, such as along baseboards and in cracks and crevices where you should avoid mopping as it will remove the product.  Inside applications are bare minimum application areas and are just a light spray/application to the area, should not be dripping.

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is petroleum oil based.

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is oil-based so could leave an oily sheen on treated surfaces but does not stain.

 Permethrin SFR 36.8% has a slight aromatic scent that will dissipate as the surfaces dry and the area is properly ventilated, typically after 4-6 hours outside and an hour inside when used as directed.

The Label states that Permethrin SFR 36.8% is safe for indoor use. Once the product dries, and as long as you didn't spray the furnace directly, it is safe.  

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is not directly labeled for noseeums. Bifen IT is a very popular product to apply outdoors to a yard for noseeums.  We also have a great article for them here.

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is not labeled for chiggers and may not provide adequate results for you. Onslaught insecticide is labeled for chiggers and can be used both indoors and outdoors as a broadcast spray. Chiggers are not known to infest structures. Chiggers are most likely outdoors in your yard. Many people are lead to believe that the infestation is indoors because they do not feel the effects of the chigger bites right away and then are lead to believe they are being bitten at a later time. Treatments for chiggers should begin in May and could need to continue through the summer as new chiggers move into the area. Treating the entire lawn is of little benefit because chiggers avoid direct sunlight and normally will not infest areas that are mowed or otherwise well maintained. Focus treatment on the unkempt areas of the lawn and lawn edge. You can also use Onslaught to do a barrier treatment around the outside of your home and in your crawl space to stop pests from moving indoors. If you feel strongly that you are being bitten inside by something we would urge you to get a sample of the pest and have it professionally identified by an entomologist. You can find an entomologist in your area by contacting your local cooperative extension office.

We are not sure what type of system you have, indoor or outdoor. We can tell you that Permethrin SFR 36.8% is labeled for use in overhead fly spray systems in livestock premises "Overhead space spray system – 4 fl. oz. to 10 gallons mineral oil". Permethrin SFR is not labeled for any other type of fly spray system. We do carry other products that can be used in different fly spray systems such as Riptide, Vector Ban Plus, and Eco MC Misting.

You can use Permethrin SFR in a hose end sprayer as long as the hose end sprayer you are using can be calibrated to dispense the amount of product you require per gallon of water as directed on the Permethrin SFR product label.

Permethrin SFR can be used to help control flies in and around calf huts. Be sure to read the product label for the complete usage instructions.

Permethrin SFR can be used on livestock only to help control scabie mites. Permethrin SFR cannot be used on humans or in residential areas to control scabie mites.

Yes, combining Exponent with Permethrin will help breakdown any resistance the ticks may have to the product greatly increasing your chances of controlling the population.

Permethrin SFR is the product of choice to control Zimmerman moths. According to the manufacturer of the product you should apply: 4 to 8 Fluid Ounces Per 100 gallons -- or –
Broadcast 0.9 to 1.8 Fluid Ounces Per 10,000 sq. ft. to control this pest.

For most indoor applications of Permethrin SFR you will use 1 2/3 fl. oz per gallon of water. Please refer to the product label complete usage instructions.

We do not recommend using Permethrin SFR 36.8% in a fogger. Depending on what and how you are treating for you could use a product like Shockwave in a thermal fogger.

We usually do not recommend Permethrin SFR 36.8% for treating for bedbugs. This is because of the high chance of resistance. Permethrin SFR is not labeled for use on furniture or mattresses. Instead, we recommend you use a product called Transport Mikron. This product has dual active ingredients to avoid resistance by the bedbugs and it is labeled for use on furniture and mattresses. Transport Mikron is mixed at 1.25 fl oz per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft. The Permethrin SFR as well as most other insecticides on the market has a built in measuring reservoir on the bottle for determining how much product you need to use per gallon without needing an additional measuring device for the product. There is no other product that has to be mixed with the Permethrin SFR in the water to make it work or effective.
